| "You'll soon be rid of me" |
Out in the farmyard, Cadno tells DJ, “Don’t worry, I’ve only got bail – I shall be charged next week, then you’ll be rid of me!” DJ protests that he does not want to get rid of her, but she continues, “Only you and Garry knew about the gun. Didn’t you think about the kids when you blabbed? What do you think I’ll get? A few hours community service?”

| "I could say it's my gun" |
“You won’t – if I say it was my gun,” suggests DJ, and Cadno is highly surprised.

| "This is not going to work" |
DJ has been having second thoughts, telling Cadno that the plan is not realistic and the police are not stupid. This angers Cadno; “I haven’t confessed, and if we stick to this story . . .” she insists, but DJ is convinced it will not work, and is sorry he mentioned it.

| "Well, who shopped me then?" |
“Well, who shopped me then?” demands Cadno, and DJ tells her it could not be Garry, for he would have nothing to gain by so doing.

| Eifion shows the message to Jim |
Jim is busy in APD when Eifion comes in, asking, “Do you know something about this?” and brandishes the letter.
![]() |
| "I'm not the only driver you've upset!" |
Jim replies, “Why ask me? I’m not the only driver you’ve upset. What about Ed, DJ, Angela, Eileen, all the taxi boys – and how many have you upset in Llanarthur?”
![]() |
| Then Eifion has another bright idea |
Eifion then again realises who is the culprit; “Of course, I know who sent it – it’s perfectly obvious, given her mental state!” and off he goes again.
![]() |
| "Think of me, while I'm rotting in jail!" |
On his way, he meets Cadno, who tells him she has no idea who told the police about the gun. “DJ has withdrawn his offer – so think of me, while I’m rotting in jail!”
![]() |
| "Who do you think you are?" |

![]() |
| Sioned denies it |
When she tells him she did not, he continues, “That is the wrong answer! Don’t you have a heart at all?” Sioned admits she may have mentioned the gun, but is adamant that Cadno deserves everything she gets.
![]() |
| "What's she done to you?" |
DJ adds, “What’s she done to you? You can play Florence Nightingale with Gemma, but do you know what this will do to Cadno? I know exactly what you are!”
![]() |
| "You're smothering me!" |
Upstairs, Gemma is protesting to Ed, “I know you’re doing your best, but you are embarrassing me, smothering me, making me feel different. The way you treat me reminds me of my illness every minute you’re with me. I want to be treated like a person, not a patient.”
![]() |
| "What am I supposed to do?" |
Ed feels helpless; “What am I supposed to do, Gemma? Whatever I try is wrong – there’s no pleasing you.” When Gemma thinks that she should not have come back, he agrees with her, and offers to return her to the hospital.
Downstairs, Jim is having a pint when Eifion and Angela come in;

| Ed tears Eifion off a strip . . . |

| Abject apology from Eifion |
“I’m ashamed! I don’t want you to judge the rest of the village by my stupid behaviour,” and he leaves very sheepishly.
![]() |
| "I didn't want to drag Gemma into it" |
Jim tells Angela that he never intended Gemma to get dragged into it, and pleads with her not to tell Eileen. Eifion reports that he has apologised, and he and Jim agree that they have not come out of this very well.

| Jim and Eifion bury their differences |
They shake hands, and Jim buys them both a pint.
![]() |
| "I am on your side" |

| Cadno takes no notice of her apology |
Sioned says that she is sorry, but Cadno is not convinced.
![]() |
| "I've got useful information!" |
“No you’re not – but you will be! I’ve got useful information about the quad that was stolen, and about money paid to me to keep quiet! I might not be able to prove anything, but then police are cleverer than me. Maybe the quad is only the beginning – who knows what else they’ll find? What have I got to lose?
![]() |

“If I go to jail, I’m taking you with me!”
