Gethin is having second thoughts
After looking at the present he has bought for Daniel, Gethin announces to Ffion that he has a headache and will not be going.
"I'll text Natalie to cancel"
“I’ll text Natalie to cancel,” he says.
“I’m sure that Daniel is nervous too,” she tells him, “If you let him down today, you won’t get another chance!”
"All right, I'll come with you!"
He reluctantly agrees, but pleads with Ffion to accompany him.
"I saw the solicitor at lunchtime"
Gaynor tells her lodgers, “I saw the solicitor at lunchtime.   You should get notification of the divorce in two or three weeks.”
"Oh, as soon as that?"
Hywel is surprised that it could be that soon.   “There’s no point in delaying it,” says Gaynor, and asks if they want anything from the shop.
"Get another one of these!"
Sheryl, who is fiddling with the high chair, presumably now damaged, replies, “Yes – another one of these!”   She also moans when Hywel has to go to do a computer job, but he points out they will need every penny when the baby comes.   As soon as they have left, Sheryl feels a twinge.
"We have to make some cuts"
Kelly has been summoned to a meeting with Helen, her boss, at the café;  she advises that the Western Post needs to make cuts, but they want to produce a new magazine in the paper, and need someone to write a weekly column.
“I’m asking everyone to write a sample feature – the writer of the best one will secure their job.   I’m looking for soul, human interest, stories that are moving.   The deadline is Friday, and the stories have to be in Welsh.”
"Your English isn't brilliant. either!"
Kelly admits that her Welsh is shocking, and Helen comments, “Your English isn’t brilliant either, is it?”
"Chips, potatoes, or both?"
Cadno is busy cooking dinner, asking DJ whether he wants chips, potatoes – or both.   He tells her he is having dinner with Dai and Diane tonight,
DJ is not happy to accept this bonus money
and when she hands him a bonus for all his hard work, he is reluctant to accept it.
"I'm in a bit of pain"
Sheryl is trying to contact Hywel;  she leaves a message, “I’m sure it’s nothing, but I’m in a bit of pain.”   At this point, Gaynor returns and asks if she is all right.
"I was all right until you got home"
“I was until you got home,” Sheryl complains, but cannot disguise the pain, and Gaynor tells her they are going to hospital.
“I’m not going anywhere with you!” snaps Sheryl, “It’s not contractions – it’s the stress of living with you!”
"Are you going to walk, then?"
Gaynor asks, “What are you going to do then? – walk?” and marches her out of the house.
An anxious couple wait . . .
Gethin and Ffion nervously sit in another café,
. . . for Daniel and his mother to arrive
and Natalie comes in with Daniel, who seems very quiet and withdrawn.   Gethin gives him the present, a car transporter, knowing that loves cars.
"I'm not a baby!"
“I don’t play with cars any nore - I’m not a baby!” responds Daniel, and when Gethin asks what food he wants, he replies, “I don’t want anything to eat!”
"You must eat something"
Gethin insists he has to have something, but Daniel gets up, says, “Don’t tell me what to do - you don’t know me!” and walks out, pursued by Natalie.
"How's my dear brother-in-law?"
Garry comes into the Deri;  “How’s my dear brother-in-law?” he asks, and Siôn answers that he was all right.   Garry asks where his translation is, and when told that Siôn has not finished it, remarks, “You need to learn time management – by the end of the day, without fail!”
Kelly has an idea for her feature . . .
Kelly comes in, suggesting to Siôn that it cannot be easy, juggling a pub and a chapel.   Garry interrupts, “You’d be surprised what this bloke’s capable of!”   Kelly is thinking of a feature about Siôn’s situation, but he refuses to be involved.
. . . and Garry calls Siôn's situation "unique"
Garry cannot resist joining in;  “Siôn’s situation is unique, isn’t it?”
"Are you Sheryl's sister?"
At the hospital the midwife asks if Gaynor is Sheryl’s sister;  “No, just a friend,” is the reply.
"You must relax"
The midwife encourages Sheryl to relax, so they can monitor the baby,
Sheryl issues orders again
but she is insisting that Gaynor try again to contact Hywel.
“You must relax, for your own sake and the baby’s,” urges Gaynor, “You’ve got a heart problem – do you think arguing is going to help?”
"Don't leave, please!"
When she turns to go home, Sheryl pleads with her to stay;  “Don’t leave, please – I don’t want the baby now, it’s too early!”
"Breathe slowly – in – out"
Gaynor instructs her to breathe slowly and relax.
“It’s important that you calm down – the midwife has gone to see the consultant,” reassures Gaynor, and Sheryl asks her how she can do this.
"Watching too much 'Call the Midwife'!"
“By watching too many episodes of ‘Call the Midwife’,” Gaynor replies.
“No, live under the same roof as Hywel and me,” continues Sheryl.
"Llwyncelyn is all I have left"
Gaynor explains that Llwyncelyn is her home and the last thing she has left, thanks to her and Hywel.   “Don’t you think it would be a good idea to make a fresh start somewhere else?” asks Sheryl.
“To make life easier for you and Hywel?” Gaynor asks her, “You’ve been hurt by one man after another, and yet here you are.   I wouldn’t want to look at another man, never mind have a baby with one.   How do you keep going?”
"If you're afraid of being on your own"
Sheryl admits, “You have no choice if you’re afraid of being on your own!”
Then Hywel rushes in, thanking Gaynor for her help, and Sheryl dismisses Gaynor,
She is soon back to her bossy self
“You can go now – Hywel’s here.   We’ll be fine now.”
“Right, I’ll go – I’ve wasted too much time, listening to your grunting!” snaps Gaynor.
Gethin asks about football teams
At the café, Daniel is actually eating now, and after asking if he likes rugby, Gethin discovers he is into football.   “What’s your favourite team – QPR, Wolves, Cwrtmynach FC?”
"How about Man U?"says Gethin
Then he hits on the right team;  “Man U?”
"They won four - nil!"
Daniel brightens up, saying, “I went to see them play once, and they won four - nil!   Why have you been away so long?”
"I've been busy working"
Gethin says he has been busy working, but Daniel maintains that everyone’s father works.   Gethin says he is sorry, but he wants them to get to know each other now;  “But only if you’re happy about it – what do you say?   Will you give me a chance?”
The ice broken, Daniel wants his dessert
Daniel replies, “All right!   Can I have dessert now?”
Cadno fusses over DJ . . .
Cadno sees DJ outside the chippy, eating chips;  “I thought you were going out to dinner, you know I had plenty of food for you.   Let me buy you a drink,” she offers.
. . . but he wants to be left alone . . .
He refuses, telling her that what he wants is to be left alone;  “What I want is peace and quiet.   All you do is fuss.   I’m trying not to think about the court case.   You’re not helping, just making it worse!   Just leave me alone!”
. . . leving her with the empty box
He hands her his empty chip box and walks off.
"The answer may be closer than you think"
In the Deri, Siôn suggests to Kelly that the answer to her problem may be closer than she thinks;  “You have experience of your own, don’t you?” he says, but she answers that the bulimia was long ago, and she is not the same person now.
Garry adds to Siôn's workload
Garry arrives, collects his translation and adds, “You can do these as well – the accounts – by tomorrow, good boy!”
Kelly gets to work on her iPad
Kelly starts her feature on her iPad – “Bulimia – my story.”
"Braxton Hicks false contractions"
Sheryl explains to Hywel that she has not had a twinge for ages and that the midwife says they were probably “Braxton Hicks” false contractions.   The baby is happy where it is!”   She is not pleased when Hywel texts Gaynor to tell her the good news,
"We want to keep you in overnight"
and even more concerned when told that she will not be allowed home until tomorrow.
Gethin hugs his son . . .
The first meeting over, Gethin hugs Daniel as he leaves, and is pleased to see that he takes the cars with him.   “See you, son!” Gethin tells him, and ruffles his hair.
“Dad!” Daniel says, exasperated.
. . . and thanks Ffion for organising it
Gethin is overjoyed that Daniel called him Dad;  he thanks Ffion and kisses her.
"I can do better than that!" says DJ
Cadno is worried about DJ;  as she leaves another message on his phone, “DJ, it’s me again – please phone me back!” he walks in through the door.
"It reminds me of what is going to happen"
He assures her he has not changed his mind about taking the blame, but every time she cooks a meal, it reminds him of what is going to happen.
He returns the money
“The only thing I want is for you to be normal – well as normal as you can be!”  he says, handing back the bonus money.
Gaynor looks depressed when Hywel returns alone and apologises for Sheryl’s behaviour;
"Time you stopped making excuses for her!"
she tells him it is about time time he stopped making excuses for her.
“Not everyone would take their husband’s girlfriend to hospital,” Hywel tells her,
Hywel is after something – and Gaynor is plotting
“You always do the right thing – unlike me!   We haven’t had the house to ourselves for a while.”   Gaynor looks as if she might be hatching a plan.
“And we’re not likely to again for some time,” he continues, “This place has been a good home for us – and could have been for years.”
"That's who you are!"
Gaynor answers, “If it hadn’t been Sheryl, it would have been someone else – that’s true and you know it!   That’s who you are and it’s who you’ll always be.   I should have left you years ago!”
"Then why didn't you?"
“Then why didn’t you?’ he demands, moving closer towards her.
Presumably this is part of Gaynor's plan
They kiss, passionately.
