Ffion reminds him, “Children are not perfect – they’re untidy, noisy, excitable. Arwen will be over the moon to meet her new brother! We’re one family now, aren’t we?” and Gethin supposes that, yes, they are

Gaynor comes back to the flat, looking decidedly unimpressed; then her first visitor arrives – Colin.

She has some difficulty in mastering the door entry phone, then he presents her with a card to welcome her to her new home.

She emphasises, “Llwyncelyn is my home,” and invites him to stay for dinner,

Gemma is still in bed although it is almost teatime, and Sioned attempts to make her get up;

“How about a shower? Or wash your hair? You’re bound to have bad days” sympathises Sioned, “But tomorrow’s another day, as Auntie Marian says.”

Gemma’s response is simply, “Close the door on your way out.”

As Ffion prepares for their visitors, she receives a text from Gethin;

“Daniel will be here at 5. Thanks for everything. Love you – G.” She looks rather hesitant.

Kelly comes into the Deri and tells Gwyneth she now has a weekly column in the Western Post magazine;

Siôn remarks that she does not look happy, but is nevertheless pleased that she has not written about him.

“I am writing about a friend – supposedly, but I didn’t ask – she’ll be gutted when she sees it!”
Siôn’s advice is to tell her what is going on; “Be honest,” he says,

As Natalie approaches Cysgod y Glyn, she worries, “I don’t know if this sleepover is a good idea, maybe it’s too soon. He’s never been away on his own before.”
Gethin reassures her that he will not be on his own, and praises her for the good job she has done, raising him on her own.

Gaynor calls at number 7 to collect her casserole dish,

and Colin shows her the gifts he has bought for Jac and Tessa.

Gaynor tells him that the pendant for Tessa is pretty, and expensive. “Between you and me,” confides Colin, “I think she likes me. I want us to be a family, and want to do the right thing.”
When Natalie and Daniel arrive at Ffion’s flat, she is a little too effusive;

“You’re drunk,” says Natalie, and Ffion confesses to having just a little one. Gethin finds the situation embarrassing, and when Ffion tries to put her arm round Daniel, Natalie warns her not to touch him.
Gethin tells Daniel he can stay another time,

but Ffion cannot see any reason why they should leave. Natalie describes her as “plastered,” but Ffion insists a small one will not do any harm;

“Do you want a drink” she slurs, “Red, white – or both?”

| "I've got to make sure that Daniel is all right" |
As Natalie insists that she wants to make sure Daniel is all right, they leave.

| "We might as well finish this" |
“Why did they go, after we made them dinner?” demands Ffion, and Gethin points out they could not do anything else with her in that state. “We might as well finish it,” she says, grabbing the bottle, “Daniel’s cute – like you!”

Gethin says that she was all right earlier, and she answers, “I’m even better after this – have one, it’ll help you relax.” He grabs the bottle and glass from her, and empties the wine down the sink. Then taking the unopened bottle from the table, and Arwen, he goes off in search of Natalie.

Ffion staggers unsteadily to the cupboard, retrieves yet another bottle and, with difficulty, pours it into a mug.
Tessa is delighted with her gift, and Colin is grateful for the chance to be Jac’s father;

Gaynor seizes the opportunity to have a quick look in Tessa’s handbag, but is caught red-handed. “What are you doing?” she demands,

“Colin, she’s going through my handbag!” Gaynor blames the stress she is going through, and the fact she has a similar handbag at home.
“I love bringing Jac here, but if this is how we’re treated . . !

“I’m taking Jac home – it’s his bathtime, anyway,” says Tessa,

and she hurriedly leaves.

Colin is furious; “What was that all about? You’d never buy a bag like that – you’re too much of a snob! I know you don’t trust her.”

Gaynor reminds him, “Mark said she tried to fleece you on your first date – maybe she’s after your fortune. She thinks you’re made of money! You don’t have any proof that you’re Jac’s father – you have to face facts!”
Colin sympathises, “I understand things are difficult for you. You’re alone in the flat, and I have Jac – what have you got?

Gethin hurries along the street with Arwen in tow, looking for Natalie.
Kelly arrives at the Deri flat, looking for Gemma;

when Sioned says, “She’s not too special today – she’s struggling,”

Kelly decides to go, but Sioned insists she needs help and in the end Kelly agrees to see her.

In Gemma’s bedroom, Kelly begins with small talk; “Nice pyjamas, how’s the jewellery going?” and then gets to the point. “I wanted to chat about my job – I’ve been stressed and Helen is hassling me.”

At this point, Gemma’s alarm sounds, alerting her to the fact that she must take her tablets; Kelly loses her nerve and simply thanks Gemma for being there for her.

“Not many people could handle coming back after everything that has happened. You’re really brave – whatever happens, just remember that – I’m here for you.”

Gemma, with tears in her eyes, gets up and gratefully hugs her.

Natalie sits thoughtfully in the Deri,

while Daniel complains, “It’s not fair – I want to stay with Dad.” Natalie explains that Ffion is ill, and then their taxi arrives.

Gethin rushes in and pleads for five minutes of Natalie’s time. He tells her he does not know what came over Ffion.

“Two bottles of wine, possibly more?” suggests Natalie.

Gethin makes excuses, while Arwen climbs vociferously on the sofa;

| "Is she an alcoholic?" |
“I’ve been listening to your lies for years, and I know you’re lying,” Natalie tells him, “Nobody drinks that much in the afternoon, especially with a young child. Obviously she has a problem. Is she an alcoholic?”

| Gethin is forced to admit it |
Gethin reluctantly admits that she is, but insists it is only “a blip”. Natalie issues an ultimatum, “You can’t see Daniel until you finish with Ffion!”

Gethin protests that it is not fair to expect him to choose between them. “Contact me when you’ve decided!” she says, and they leave.
