17 September 2015 (1st)

"I couldn't stand living in the heart of the village"
Outside the shop, Gaynor tells Eileen she will only be in the flat temporarily, as she could not stand living in the heart of the village;  “Some of us cope!” Eileen replies.
"He would be lost without you"
Tessa approaches, and Colin is uncomfortable;  as Eileen enthuses over Jac, she hopes that Colin has been saying nice things about her.   Tessa tells her, “He would be lost without you – you keep him going.”   Colin encourages her to go go to number 7, and Eileen says he can go when he has finished outside the shop, then she pays him.
"Why is she paying you?"
Tessa asks, “Why is she paying you?” and he makes up a story about a member of staff being ill, and he will take that money to him later.
This is painful for Gaynor to watch
Gaynor is watching Colin dig himself deeper into the hole;
"I've got to find the right time to tell her"
she urges him, “Tell her, before she finds out from someone else!” but Colin replies that he is trying to find the right time to do so.
Jim suggests buying a watch for Courtney’s 16th birthday, but Angela tells him she does not wear a watch;
"I think Courtney should be on the pill"
they decide to give her money instead   “One more thing,” says Angela, “I think she ought to go on the pill – that’s just being responsible.”
"You're encouraging her to chase men!"
Jim is horrified;  “You’re encouraging her to chase men!” but Angela reminds him that she goes to a lot of parties these days.   “Courtney is a sensible girl,” maintains Jim;
Angela's mind is made up
however Angela tells him she intends to talk to Courtney about it, as she is not a baby any more.
In the café, Gemma asks Kelly if she wants to come over later, then Helen arrives;
Helen is introduced to Gemma
“Oh, you’re the one who’s stressing out Kelly!” comments Gemma.
Helen brings the news that the article leaves a lot of room for improvement;  There are syntax errors, and I won’t mention the mutations!”
"Right, I'll go and join the dole queue!"
Kelly offers to go straight to the dole queue, but Helen adds,
"It was inspirational!"
“Despite the mistakes, there is something special there.   Jenny’s struggle with mental illness – it was inspirational!   I’m offering you the column.”
"No way!"
In typical fashion, Kelly exclaims in English, “No way!”
“It’s fresh, and just what we wanted, well done, Kelly!” Helen tells her, “Where did you find this Jenny?   She spoke very openly to you.   It will be ten columns first and then we’ll see how it goes.   I’ll see you tonight – I’m taking you for a drink!”
But she is having second thoughts
Kelly looks less that pleased at the prospect.
"What have I done now?"
Angela wants to have a chat with Courtney;  “What have I done now?” she replies.   Angela tells her that as she is almost sixteen, she should consider going on the pill, but that does not mean she is under pressure to do anything she does not want to.
"Mam, I'm already on the pill"
Courtney astonishes her mother by replying, “Mam, I’m already on the pill,”
"Why didn't you consult me?"
and when Angela protests that she was not consulted, adds, “I talked to Eileen about it, as I knew you’d make a fuss.”
Eifion calls in for tea
As Eifion comes in for a quick cup of tea, Courtney continues,
"This is nothing to do with boys and sex!"
“You’re so embarrassing!   Sorry to disappoint you, but this is nothing to do with boys and sex – I’m fed up with being in pain every month.”   Angela’s fury is mounting, and she strides out of the house, with Courtney in hot pursuit.
"One Colin Evans is enough"
Gabriella is back, and accompanied by Mark, visits Colin to congratulate him;  Mark comments, “I’m not sure the world is ready for Colin Evans Junior – one’s enough!”   Colin assures him that there are no more little Colins hiding around the place, then rushes upstairs when he hears the baby crying.
The peace is about to be shattered
All is peaceful in the shop flat until Angela dashes in, demanding, “What do you think you’re doing?   I decide whether Courtney’s on the pill!”
Jim is absolutely furious
Jim jumps up out of his chair and exclaims, “What?   Since when?   You may as well get her to stand on the street corner!”   Courtney is aghast at what is going on.
"It makes you feel special, does it?"
When Eileen says that Courtney confided in her, Angela snarls, “It makes you feel special, as she chose you over me?”
"She won't make the same mistake I made"
Eileen tells her, “We’re here to help each other.   At least Courtney won’t make the same mistake I made.”   Too late she realises what she has said;  “I didn’t mean it like that!”
“I know exactly what you meant!” shouts Angela, and hurries out with Courtney in tow,
Eileen is almost reduced to tears
leaving Eileen almost in tears.
"He's laughing at you!"
Colin is holding Jac, and Mark tells him the baby is laughing at him;
"Enjoy every second with him"
Gabriella advises him, “Enjoy every second with him – I was too late when I found Meic.”
"I've got to keep the boss happy"
Kelly goes to see Gemma and break the news that they cannot go out tonight, as she does not want to annoy her boss.   Gemma takes this in an uncommonly calm way;
Gemma seems very laid-back
“It’s fine – I don’t want you to be late for Helen.”
"Daniel, meet Auntie Dani"
Daniel and Natalie arrive at Garry’s flat to meet Auntie Dani.
"Do you get to eat chips every day?"
Daniel’s main interest is, “Do you get to eat chips every day from the shop downstairs?”
Dani tells him, “Yes, and for breakfast – with tomato sauce!”   Daniel pronounces this, “Cool!”
They explain that the toys in the flat belong to Garry’s son, and that Garry is Dani’s husband;  “And my boss, unfortunately,” adds Gethin.
"Does grandad Moc come to see you?"
Then Daniel drops a bombshell;  “Does grandad Moc come to see you?”   There is a stunned silence;  Daniel continues, “I haven’t seen him for ages – where does he live?”
"He died - a couple of years ago"
Gethin tells him that Moc died a couple of years ago,
"I didn't want to upset you"
and Natalie adds that she did not tell him as she did not want to upset him.
Gaynor arrives at number 7 with a casserole for Colin, as he is busy with Jac;
Colin with the casserole
then Tessa returns, and while she takes Jac into the kitchen to change him, Gaynor remarks that she seems nice.
"She tried to con Colin"
Mark enlightens her;  “Now maybe, but she tried to con Colin the first time they went out.   That’s why I thought he was bonkers to go out with her.   Lucky he didn’t take my advice, or he wouldn’t have known about Jac.”
Colin invites them all to stay to dinner, as, “Gaynor has made enough to feed the 5,000!” but Mark and Gabriella decline the offer.
Eileen tries to make peace
When Eileen goes round to Angela’s to try and make peace, Angela accuses her, “You were out of order!   I want Courtney to know that her mother is here for her – I didn’t have that!”
"I don't know why I bother!"
Eileen responds, “Whatever I do for you, you throw it back in my face!   I help your daughter, and you’re angry!   I offer you the café and you refuse.   I don’t know why I bother!”
“Then don’t next time!” is Angela’s retort.
"What's all this about the café?"
Eifion is eager to find out what is this mention of the café.
"Oh – she's off again!"
She tells him, “She offered and I didn’t want it!   I don’t want to run a café, especially if she owns it!   I don’t want to hear any more about it!”
"Why say that Moc was dead?"
In the flat, Dani asks Gethin, “Why say Moc was dead?   Why not that he was abroad?”
"As far as I'm concerned, he is dead!"
Gethin is adamant;  “Daniel must never find out what Moc did, right?   I don’t want to hear his name again – as far as I’m concerned, he is dead!”
Daniel enjoys the chips from downstairs, and asks, “Can I come back tomorrow?   I could have a sleepover.
Please, Mam!"
Please Mam – I’ll do all my homework before coming.”   Natalie agrees.
"I've changed my mind!"
At the supposed celebration in the Deri, Kelly asks Helen not to publish her article, or at least to change her name, in case people do not like it.
“I like it and the readers will too,” replies Helen, “It would be a pity if I had to offer the column to someone else.”
Gemma congratulates Kelly
Seeing Gemma, Helen invites her over, and tells her that Kelly has got her new column.   Kelly looks very uncomfortable.
A very good meal
Colin, Tessa and Gaynor have enjoyed the casserole;
Some presents for Jac
Colin gives Tessa a bag of things for Jac.   Gaynor starts enquiring;
"You'll have to discuss maintenance"
“It must be difficult, living on your own.   You’ll have to discuss maintenance before long.”   Tessa insists that there is no hurry, and she just wants Colin to get to know Jac.
Gaynor quizzes Tessa
“Where do you work?” asks Gaynor, and Tessa replies that her job is being Jac’s mother.   The next question is, “Have you been on your own long?”
“I thought I was coming to dinner!   If I knew I was going to be grilled, I would have got some chips on the way home,” protests Tessa, “Have you got a problem with me?”
Colin tells her that Gaynor likes to be nosy, so Tessa stresses,
"We understand each other, don't we, Col?"
“We understand each other, don’t we, Col?” and kisses him.
Colin looks happy . . .
He looks smug,
. . . but Gaynor thinks this is not what it seems
while Gaynor appears suspicious.
