21 September 2015

Just about to phone Gemma . . .
Kelly is about to phone Gemma, when Anita unexpectedly returns;
. . . and Anita appears
“I didn’t decide until yesterday to come back,” she says, “Patagonia was hard, but it was something I had to do;  but seeing Darren and the family was lovely!”
As Kelly goes to make a cup of tea, Anita sits down with the Western Post;
"Kelly, you've got an article in here!"
“Kelly, you’ve got an article in here!” she announces.   Kelly is furious as it was not supposed to be published until next week.
Kelly is in a great panic
She grabs her coat and rushes out.
"OK, we'll go for a walk"
Ed suggests to Gemma that they should go for a walk;  she agrees, and then looks at the paper, reading the headline,
Then she sees the article
Don’t treat me differently.
Siôn, translating on his HP laptop
Britt is working with mop and bucket;  she complains to Siôn, who is busy finishing Garry’s translation.   There is a thunderous banging on the door;
Kelly hurtles through
when Britt opens it, Kelly hurries upstairs.
"Let me explain"
She sees Gemma looking at the paper.  “Let me explain,” pleads Kelly, “I did it for you, so that people would understand you better.”
"You did it to keep your job!"
Gemma has other ideas;  “You did it to keep your job!   I thought we were friends, but you just wanted to get a story out of me.   Mates don’t betray each other – I told you things I would never tell anyone else!”
Ed arrives to find them arguing
Ed has come in, as Gemma asks, “Why didn’t you tell me, instead of going behind my back?”   When Ed reminds Kelly that he told her to keep Gemma out of it, Gemma realises,
"You're just as bad as each other!"
“I thought I could trust both of you – you’re just as bad as each other.”
"Don't let Ffion out of the flat!"
Dani has been summoned by Gethin to Cysgod y Glyn; he tells her, “Don’t let Ffion out of the flat, and don’t let her drink!”
Ffion protests, “I’m not deaf, and I don’t need a babysitter!”   She walks out of the room, but Gethin demands to know where she is going.
"I'm going to drink bleach!"
“To the bedroom to drink bleach!” she replies,
"I can pee by myself!"
“Only joking – I can pee by myself!”
Gethin tells Dani that Natalie wants him to finish with Ffion, or she will stop him seeing Daniel.
I'm supposed to be at work"
Although Dani says she is supposed to be working, he insists he is going to change Natalie’s mind, and urges Dani to lock the door behind him.
Anita arrives unexpectedly
Diane is surprised to see Anita at the door of Bryntirion;  “I hope you haven’t come to argue with Diane,” snaps Dai.
"You respected his wishes"
Anita says, “Now I’ve been to Patagonia, I can see that’s what Meic wanted – you respected his wishes.   I’m lucky to have you as a friend – I don’t want to lose you,”
Things appear to be cordial again
and they hug.   Then Anita invites them to lunch;  Dai is not keen to go, but is, as usual, overruled.
Natalie wants to protect Daniel
Natalie comes to see Gethin at the garage;  Gethin is anxious about the effect on Daniel, and suggests that he could keep her and Daniel apart.   “He doesn’t have to see Ffion again.”
Natalie asks what happens if Ffion cannot be left on her own;  “You would let Daniel down again.   You can’t give him the attention if you’re living with an alcoholic – I’ve got no choice!   Daniel has been a new boy since you came back on the scene – finish with Ffion!”
Gethin makes a rash promise
Gethin is torn between wanting to be a good father and a good partner, saying he has a duty to be there for each of them, and rashly promising, “Ffion will be dry from now on – I’ll make sure of that!”
"You've got work to do"
Back at Cysgod y Glyn, Ffion tells Dani, “It’s stupid, you kicking your heels here, you’ve got work to do.   I’ve learned my lesson – honest!”
Then Gaynor arrives, concerned about Ffion’s absence from school;
Ffion feigns illness
Ffion lies down on the sofa, and Dani tells how she has flu, and that she has been flat out, unable to open her eyes.
"You don't want to catch it!"
“If I were you, I’d leave - you don’t want to catch it!”
"I'm hardly a loss to the school"
Ffion shows no gratitude to Dani for stopping her getting the sack;  “Look at me, I’m hardly a loss to the school,” she whines.
"What is this doing to Gethin?"
Dani tells her, “I don’t care if you get the sack, but have you thought what this is doing to Gethin?   He is sticking by you, and all you do is complain!”
Ffion silently grabs the keys
Ffion notices the keys on the worktop, and surreptitiously removes them, saying she is going for a lie down.
"Ffion, come and get your lunch!"
Later, when Dani has made lunch, she calls Ffion, but on receiving no reply and noticing the absence of the keys, she realises what has happened and rushes out.
Dai is tucking into the meal
Dai and Diane are eating lunch at Anita’s when Kelly comes in;  “What are they doing here?” she demands,
"They're not welcome!"
“They’re not welcome after what they said to Gemma!   She doesn’t deserve to be treated like a second class citizen!”
"I don't think Cwmderi is the place for her now"
Dai points out that all he said was, “I don’t think Cwmderi is the place for her now.”   Kelly flies off the handle, screaming that Cwmderi is Gemma’s home, and that she deserves support, not abuse.
"That's enough - sit down!"
Anita orders her, “That’s enough!   She is not the only one who found it hard to come home – sit down and have some lunch!”
Garry wants his translations
Garry comes to the Deri to collect his latest translations, and Britt tells him, “You’ve made your point, but you’ve gone too far this time.   The kids never see him, and Catrin was worried he was ill!”
"She's not, but he doesn't have to know that!"
Siôn asks why she did not tell him Catrin was worried, and she replies, “She’s not, but he doesn’t have to know that!”
"Anyone seen Ffion?"
Dani rushes in, looking for Ffion, and refuses lunch with Garry as she is too busy.
"Don't worry about the Western Post"
“Don’t worry about the Western Post – it will be chip papers tomorrow,” Ed tells Gemma.
"They don't serve chips in newspaper any more"
She replies, “They don’t serve chips in newspaper any more – it’s health and safety.   Why did you tell Kelly not to discuss it with me?   You could have let me make my own decisions.”
Ed apologises, maintaining that she cannot blame him if things go wrong.
"I shouldn't have trusted her"
“Yes, you’re right, it’s not your fault, it’s mine!” Gemma admits, “I shouldn’t have trusted her.   Kelly would never want to be friends with someone like me – any fool can see that!”
Dani, still on her search, sees Gethin and Natalie outside the café;  she runs across the road to report, “Ffion’s gone missing – she slipped out of the flat!”
"A walk?   She's out drinking!"
Gethin suggests that she has gone for a walk, but Natalie replies, “She’s out drinking and you know it!   This is exactly what I was worried about!   I’m not changing my mind –
Natalie strides away
Daniel or Ffion – it’s up to you!”
Then he blames Dani, but she says, “I thought you would like to know your girlfriend is missing – is this how it’s going to be?”
The reason for Kelly's agitation becomes known
Anita shows Dai and Diane the article in the paper, but Kelly snatches it away;  Anita says she should be proud, but Kelly points out, “Not while Gemma is so angry!”
Dai comments, “If she’s so stupid as to talk to the press, its her fault!”   Anita realises she wrote the article without Gemma knowing, and Kelly tries to justify herself, “I had to get a story from somewhere!”
"Don't let Kelly get you down"
Ed continues to reassure Gemma;  “You’re doing so well, don’t let Kelly get you down.   Why don’t you come for that walk?”
“What did I say about making my own decisions?” she asks;
In a fit of temper . . .
in her rage, she pulls apart one of her necklaces.
Gethin is distraught
Gethin and Dani return to Cysgod y Glyn, unable to find Ffion, and he is insistent that she needs him.   “So does Daniel,” stresses Dani, and he is confident that when Ffion is dry, he will get Daniel back.
Ffion can hardly walk
Then Ffion staggers in, barely able to walk, and collapses on the sofa.   “Daniel is your child,” Dani tells him,
"You're not responsible for that!"
“You’re not responsible for that!” pointing at the prostrate Ffion.   “You must put Daniel first, or you’ll lose him for ever!”
Inebriated mutterings
Ffion mumbles incoherently.
"That translation looks rushed to me"
Garry returns to the Deri to complain, “I’ve been looking at the translation – it looks rushed to me.   It’s a bit clumsy and doesn’t flow – just do it again and we won’t talk about it!”
"This nonsense stops now!"
Britt tell Garry, “This nonsense stops now!”

"You and Diane are real mates"
On the Deri sofa, Kelly remarks that she and Diane are real mates, and that she hopes Gemma will forgive her.   She is surprised when Anita replies,
"You really think I'd forgive her?"
“You really think I’d forgive her for what she did?   I would have been with Meic for his last few days if it wasn’t for her!   She took away my last chance to be with Meic.
"I'm taking revenge!"
I haven’t come back to forgive – but to take revenge!”
