Dani quizzes Gethin

Dani tackles Gethin about why he has not been answering her calls all weekend; “What’s the deal with Ffion? Has she stopped drinking?” she demands, but Gethin simply walks away.

Gaynor doubts his abilities

Gaynor calls at number 7, where Colin is assembling a new cot for Jac; she casts doubts about his DIY abilities. He tells her he is borrowing Eileen’s car later, to take it to Tessa’s.

"If Tessa knew the truth . . ."

“So you’re still spending money on them?” says Gaynor, “If Tessa knew the truth about you, she wouldn’t ask for so much – she thinks you’re the owner of six thriving businesses.”

"She'll think I'm a liar"

Colin is scared that Tessa will think he is a liar; Gaynor confirms, “You are! You can’t pretend for ever!”

Sioned has mail for Angela which Mark delivered to the Deri by mistake;

Angela is not pleased to see Sioned

when she takes it next door, Angela grumbles at her.

Eileen ignores them

Then Eileen passes on her way to Megan’s shop without speaking to them. “How long is this nonsense going on?” demands Sioned,

"I don't want to talk to that nosy woman, anyway!"

and Angela comments that she does not want to talk to “that nosy woman,” anyway.

"I've had enough!"

Sioned complains to Ed in the Deri flat, “I’ve had enough – Mam ignored me and Angela wanted to slam the door in my face!” She explains to Ed that when she gets favours from her mother, Angela gets them too, but now they have argued, she will get nothing.

"Show your mother you're not a selfish child!"

Ed advises, “If you can get them to make amends, your mother will see your change of attitude – that you no longer behave like a selfish child!”

Dani catches up with Gethin

Dani strides into the garage, where Gethin is down in the pit, and begins,

"You chose an alcoholic over your son!"

“You can’t avoid me for ever! You haven’t told Ffion yet, have you? You have chosen an alcoholic over your son!”

Gethin is adamant that he will help Ffion stop her drinking, and reveals he wants to take Daniel to a football tournament in London next week, so he will have to get Ffion sober by then.

Dani refuses to act as nursemaid

“Can you keep an eye on her while I’m away? I don’t know who else I can ask!”

Dani refuses, and warns him that if he does not tell Ffion about Natalie’s ultimatum, she will.

Colin's masterpiece is finished

Colin is putting the finishing touches to the new cot, round at Tessa’s house, and agrees that they will redecorate the room one day.

"Oh, they're Martin's records"

He remarks upon the heavy metal records in the room, and Tessa explains they are Martin’s; he is living there because he has had “wife problems.”

Tessa quickly changes the subject

When Colin enquires where Martin lives, Tessa quickly changes the subject to country music. Colin says that he has been thinking about asking her out, but she replies, “It’s a bit awkward right now – I’m still getting used to the idea of being a mother, and don’t want to rush into anything.”

"I was thinking of asking you out"

Then he tells her he wants to contribute as much as possible to Jac’s upbringing, but he is not as rich as she thinks. Before he can say any more, Tessa protests that she is just happy that Jac has such a kind, caring, honest father; “So many men have lied to me in the past – you’re one in a million!”

"You're one in a million!"

She kisses him.

Sioned tries a bit of peace-making . . .

Sioned talks to Eileen, who asks, “Why should I apologise? She’s the one who’s being unreasonable.” Sioned reminds her that she did put Courtney on the pill behind her mother’s back, and remarked that Angela was “a mistake”.

“We’re family, and I want us all to be friends – if I can help, I’m duty-bound to try!” Sioned over-emphasises.

. . . but Eileen is rather scathing about her efforts

“Since when have you been duty-bound to anyone but yourself?” demands Eileen, “It was your duty not to steal the quad from Penrhewl!” Sioned insists that she has turned the corner now, and is trying to be less selfish. “Good luck with that!” is Eileen’s reaction.

"I might as well talk to the blinking wall!"

Sioned struts off to the café, where she tells Ed, “I might as well talk to the blinking wall!”

Colin admits he did not tell Tessa the truth . . .

Colin comes in and reports to Gaynor that Jac loved his cot, but he did not tell Tessa the truth.

. . . so Gaynor sends him round there again

“You’re hopeless!” says Gaynor, “What happens if someone else tells her? Come clean – you’re deceiving her.” She orders him to go back there now and own up.

"Ffion is 40 on Thursday"

When Dani comes in, Gaynor asks her how Ffion is; “I know she’s off with stress, but is there anything else?” Dani pleads ignorance, but Gaynor continues, “Ffion is 40 on Thursday – we can’t let that pass without celebrating!”

Dani mutters, “I’m sure she’ll be celebrating!”

Sioned has arranged something with Auntie Marian

Sioned has been on the phone, and assures Ed, “With Auntie Marian’s help, I’m going to put this family together again!”

Colin notices something

Colin is almost at Tessa’s house when he sees her and Martin come out;

Martin is about to grab Tessa's rear

they kiss, and he gives her bottom a playful squeeze before leaving in his car. Colin is doubtful if this is typical brother-sister behaviour, and strides up to the door;

"I want a word"

“I want a word,” he says.

One look at Jac changes his mind

Of course when he gets inside and sees Jac, he chickens out, merely saying he left his jumper upstairs.

She goes to look for the mythical jumper

Tessa goes to look for it while he holds Jac.

The buzzer disturbs Ffion . . .

The buzzer sounds at Cysgod y Glyn, and Ffion, halfway through another bottle,

. . . and she lurches across the room

staggers up to let Dani in. Dani comes straight to the point;

"This place stinks!"

“You’ve been drinking all morning – this place stinks! I’ve just told Gaynor a pack of lies to save your skin – I had to, for Gethin’s sake. Natalie won’t let him see Daniel, while you’re with him. He’s scared of making matters worse – but how could they get any worse?”

"He has to choose between you and Daniel!"

Ffion half-heartedly tells her to shut up, but Dani continues , “You don’t like hearing the truth, do you? Next week Gethin is supposed to be going to London to watch Daniel play in a football tournament, but Natalie said he can’t go unless he dumps you! He has to choose between you and Daniel! How do you feel about that?”

"Make sure you ring next time"

Of course Tessa fails to find any jumper, and advises him to phone next time he comes; they arrange he will call at two tomorrow. “It’s one of the perks of being boss – you can work when you like,” she says.

He gives her some petrol money

As he leaves, he gives her £10 petrol money, which she is reluctant to accept.

"You think you're something special!"

Ffion, who has poured herself another glass, moans at Dani; “You’ve never liked me - you think you’re something special, just because you’re married to Garry Monk! He’s a scumbag – you’ll find that out some day – then you won’t be so high and mighty! I was the one who contacted Daniel in the first place – if it weren’t for me, Gethin wouldn’t have bothered!”

“Well, you’re spoiling it for him now!” replies Dani,

Gethin learns that Ffion knows the truth

then, as Gethin arrives, she informs him, “I’ve told her everything! By the way, she’s been drinking all morning!”

"You're totally addicted again!"

After Dani has gone, Gethin wonders where she gets all the drink from; “You’re totally addicted again!”

"I can stop any time I want"

Ffion insists that she is not an addict; “I can stop any time I want. I don’t want to lose you, Geth! And I don’t want you to lose Daniel either. If I stop, you can keep both of us. I’m stopping now, right?” and she pours the remains of the bottle down the sink.
