As Dai attempts to soothe his mammoth hangover,
![]() |
| "I needed a gas mask when I woke this morning!" |
Diane quizzes him; “What happened to you last night? Not home till after two, and you stank of alcohol – I needed a gas mask when I woke this morning!”
Dai explains he was having a drink at the golf club with Cliff Parry, who wants to buy a conservatory. Diane tells him she is going to see Anita,
![]() |
| "You can't go and see Anita!" |
and Dai tries to dissuade her,
![]() |
| Whoops - no watch |
then she notices his watch is not on his wrist; “The strap broke,” he lies. As soon as she leaves,
![]() |
| "Don't say anything about last night!" |
he rings Anita and warns her, “Don’t dare say anything about last night!”
![]() |
| "It did happen!" |
Anita replies, “There’s no point in denying it – it did happen!”
![]() |
| "What happened?" |
Kelly hears this and demands to know what happened; “I slept with Dai last night! Right there!” Kelly jumps up from the sofa, with a look of disgust, telling Anita she must have been “hammered”.
![]() |
| "I knew exactly what I was doing!" |
“I knew exactly what I was doing – getting back at Diane!” Anita tells her.
![]() |
| Diane arrives at Anita's |
Then Kelly receives a text from Gemma, and as she leaves, she lets in Diane.
![]() |
| "I'm surprised you called at my miserable flat!" |
Colin visits Gaynor to find her still not unpacked. “I’m suprised that you called at my miserable flat!” says Gaynor. Colin wants to know of she has any of Lois’ and Izzy’s old toys that Jac could use.
![]() |
| "Why would I bring toys?" |
“I’ve only got half my clothes – why would I bring toys?” she asks.
“Have you cleared the air with Tessa yet?” Gaynor continues, “If she has a husband or partner why don’t you know? I don’t want you to be deceived.”
![]() |
| "I'm scared!" |
He admits he is scared, and tells Gaynor that if she wanted to help, she would not have taken that photo.
![]() |
| "You and Dai?" |
Sitting in Anita’s house, Diane laughs with disbelief; “You and Dai? You’re joking!”
![]() |
| Anita tries a look of sincerity |
Anita tells her that it did happen, and that Dai begged her not to say anything, but she has to. Diane again says, “I don’t believe you,”
![]() |
| Out comes the convincing evidence |
so Anita produces Meic’s watch from the sideboard drawer.
“He took it off before we . . . He said it wouldn’t feel right if he were wearing Meic’s watch. I was looking for comfort – he was here about the memorial service. A couple of whiskies later, he kissed me, and then . . . Grief can do terrible things to people!”
![]() |
| Diane finds inconsistencies in Dai's account |
Diane recounts that he said he was at the golf club, and the watch strap broke. Anita expresses her contrition;
![]() |
| She describes Diane as "her best friend" |
“How could I look my best friend in the eye and hide a secret like that?”
![]() |
| Diane hurriedly takes her leave |
Furious, Diane gets up and leaves,
![]() |
| Everything is going according to plan |
while Anita smiles.
![]() |
| Kelly visits Gemma |
Kelly arrives at the Deri flat. She apologises again to Gemma that she was wrong, but she was trying to help.
![]() |
| "I could ruin your career" |
Gemma disagrees; “You made up lies about my illness to save your own skin. You’ve broken every journalistic rule, and I could ruin your career for ever!”
Kelly tells her to go ahead, as she is not cut out to be a journo, but Gemma adds, “That won’t help me get better – I’m fighting this illness every day.” Kelly pleads that Gemma tells her, to help her to understand,
![]() |
| Gemma has written her own story |
and Gemma produces her story in writing; “Read it – you might learn something,” she says.
![]() |
| "What's the watch doing at Anita's?" |
Diane comes home and interrogates Dai; “If the watch strap broke at the golf club, what is the watch doing at Anita’s? She says you took it off there, and also that you slept with her!”
![]() |
| "I drank a whole bottle of whisky" |
He remembers Anita opening the whisky, and talking, but after that he can recall very little more. “I drank a whole bottle of whisky –
![]() |
| "I would remember something like that!" |
“but I would remember something like that,” he insists, “Anita has gone ‘dwlali pop’!”
![]() |
| "I don't want you here!" |
Unconvinced, Diane orders him to go and pack, as she does not want him at Bryntirion.
![]() |
| Young Jac is teething |
Natalie and baby Jac, who is probably teething, are at number 7 again, when Gaynor calls in; “Have you asked her?” she says,
![]() |
| "Who's the man in this photo?" |
and shows the photo to Natalie; “Who is the man in this photo?” demands Gaynor.
![]() |
| "Are you stalking me?" |
Natalie accuses her of being a stalker, but Gaynor is insistent;
![]() |
| "Colin doesn't have the backbone to ask" |
“Just answer the question. Colin is suspicious too, but doesn’t have the backbone to ask.”
![]() |
| "He does seem very close to Jac" |
Colin admits that the man seems very close to Jac, and Natalie explains that he is Martin, her brother and Jac’s uncle. “Very convenient!” is Gaynor’s comment, so Natalie makes a phone call.
![]() |
| "I didn't do anything!" |
Dai protests once more, “You have to listen to me – I didn’t do anything!”
Diane points out that it is not the first time;
![]() |
| He has a history of this sort of thing |
“You would have slept with Shirley if I hadn’t caught you. What can you remember from last night?” Dai cannot add very much, except that he woke up, fully clothed on the sofa. Diane’s conclusion is,
![]() |
| "Get out of my sight – now!" |
“I don’t believe a word you say – get out of my sight! Now!”
![]() |
| "How about printing another one?" |
Kelly is on the phone, asking, “How do you feel about printing another one?” Dai comes into the Deri,
![]() |
| "I'm disgusted with you both!" |
and she tells him, “I’m disgusted with you both!” He does his best to tell her that Anita is lying, but she simply replies (mostly in English), “Typical bloke – doing the dirty and blaming the other woman!”
![]() |
| Dai turns and walks out |
Then Jim comes in, demanding why Dai is not at the yard, so he simply walks out.
![]() |
| "You're still trying to use me!" |
Upstairs, Gemma is again let down by Kelly; “ I can’t believe this – you’re still trying to use me!”
![]() |
| "You should tell people" |
Kelly insists that as the therapist told her to share her feelings, she could help many people, and they would understand better.
“What – in the Western Post? I’m not ready yet.” Gemma responds, but Kelly tells her that she deserves to be heard.
As they wait at number 7, there is a knock
![]() |
| "What's this all about?" |
and Martin arrives; “Are you Jac’s father?” demands Gaynor. Martin replies that he is Jac’s uncle, and Colin describes the matter as “a slight misunderstanding”.
![]() |
| "We're almost family now" |
Colin shakes hands with Martin, who says,
![]() |
| "I hope you don't dump these two!" |
“I hope you stick around and don’t dump these two!” Colin assures him that he has no intention of doing that, and Gaynor continues to look sceptical.
![]() |
| Natalie leaves the kangaroo court |
“Right, I’m off, now the kangaroo court is over,” says Natalie, adding, “I’ll phone you if I forgive you – I’ve had enough for one day!”
![]() |
| "I'll never forgive you!" |
Colin turns to Gaynor; “If you’ve ruined things for me and Jac, I’ll never forgive you! Leave me alone!”
![]() |
| Jim gets to the bottom of the problem |
At APD, Jim enquires what is the problem, as Dai is sorting out a sunlounger on which to spend the night. Dai tells him, “Well, according to Anita, I slept with her, but I don’t think I did.”
![]() |
| "You don't know?" |
Jim is incredulous; “You don’t know? You must have been smashed! Mind, Anita is a smart woman.” He invites Dai to stay with him and Eileen for the night; “Diane will come to her senses tomorrow and you’ll be back home.”
Diane is furiously telling Gaynor in the Deri, “She has been wanting to stick the knife in since Meic died,”
![]() |
| "I bet you're part of this, too" |
and seeing Kelly, adds, “I bet you’re part of this, too!” Kelly tells her that, on the contrary, she thinks it is disgusting.
![]() |
| "How's it feel to lose the most important thing in your life?" |
Anita then enters and makes a point of asking Diane, “How’s it feel to lose the most important thing in your life?” Kelly tries to drag her off home, but Anita refuses; “I haven’t done anything wrong!”
![]() |
| The two square up to each other . . . |
Diane stands up and remonstrates with her; “I was trying to stop you seeing Meic die! He would turn in his grave if he knew what you’d done!”
![]() |
| . . . and Kelly has to break it up |
At this, Anita lunges toward her, and Kelly gets between them, to prevent any bloodshed.
Diane hurries home, as Anita and Kelly sit in the alcove at the far end of the bar; Kelly demands why she is behaving like this.
![]() |
| "I didn't sleep with Dai" |
Anita now admits, “I didn’t sleep with Dai – I’m surprised you think I’d do such a thing! Half the village knows, but I don’t care about them – the can think what they like! Don’t spoil things for me, now that I’ve come so far.”
![]() |
| "Don't come crying to me!" |
“Yeah – too far!” replies Kelly, “This is a massive mistake, so don’t come crying to me, right?”
![]() |
| "Diane will be the one crying!" |
“Diane will be the one crying!” insists Anita.
