Arwen does not look unduly enthusiastic
Ffion opens a letter advising them that their application to adopt is proceeding;  “We’ll be a family of four soon!” she gleefully tells Arwen.
"Am I wasting my time?"
When Jinx takes Arwen to get ready for Nursery, Gethin asks, “Do we still have something here, or am I wasting my time?”   Ffion tells him he has moved on to Cadno, and he walks out in disgust.
Dani warns Sheryl . . .
In the salon, Dani warns Sheryl that the fact that Hywel is taking so long to make a decision is a bad sign;  “He would have left Gaynor by now if he wanted to be with you,” she says.
. . . but Sheryl is unrealistically optimistic
Sheryl naïvely replies, “Everyone thinks Hywel has one affair after another and cannot be trusted.   I’m the same – so we’re a match!”   At this point Hywel comes in and Dani makes herself scarce.
Hywel is in a quandary . . .
Sheryl asks what he has decided, but he says he does not know what to do for the best.
. . . but he gets an ultimatum from Sheryl
Sheryl give him an ultimatum;  “This stress is not good for the baby – do you want to be with me and the baby or not?   I know it’s hard, but you have to tell Gaynor today!”
DJ is invited to the slimming club
In the café, Cadno asks DJ to come with her to Slimming Club, although he insists she does not need to slim.
Then Hywel joins Gaynor there, with the excuse that there was a queue in the shop.
Ffion visits the garage . . .
Ffion goes to the garage to see Gethin;  he asks, “Are you really happy with Jinx?” and when she replies that she is, and the adoption business is very important to her, he adds,
. . . confirms their liaison was a mistake . . .
“So what happened was a mistake?”
“Yes,” says Ffion, “Cadno is a lovely girl – it’s for the best!”
. . . but look who is spying on them
As he strokes her hair for the last time, Kelly just happens to be passing, and when she sees, she hurries away.
It seems to be affecting Hywel's appetite
Hywel appears to be off his food in the café;  he asks Gaynor what time she will be home, and she tells him it will be the normal time,
"You'll have me all to yourself tonight!"
“And you’ll have me all to yourself!”   Nearby, Cadno asks DJ how long she should wait after a date before texting him, as she is not sure who should make the next move.
Cadno seeks dating tips from DJ
She concludes that she should sit back and let Gethin do the chasing, “But what if he loses interest?”
Kelly is rather strenuously playing darts when Ffion comes into the Deri, wanting to book a table.   She says that for Jinx’s birthday, they are going to North Wales to see Taid.
Kelly is insistent on getting involved . . .
Kelly offers to arrange a birthday party for him, but is turned down by Ffion;
. . . then has a quick nose in Ffion's bag
when Ffion goes to talk to Ows, Kelly pokes around in her handbag.
Cadno's mind is not on the slimming club
At the slimming club, DJ is surprised how much he weighs, then Angela announces that Dai is “Slimmer of the Week”, having lost four pounds,
Very lukewarm admiration of Dai
and is applauded halfheartedly.   “It’s like being at nursery school, remarks Cadno, and DJ adds, “At least you get milk and biscuits there.”
Kelly had to have a reason for coming . . .
While Ffion is doing reports in the other room, Kelly visits Jinx, ostensibly to offer him the design work for a friend’s wedding invitations.
 . . . and looks though Ffion's phone messages . . .
When Arwen cries, Jinx goes to her, and Kelly takes the opportunity to rummage in Ffion’s bag, extract her phone and start looking at it.
. . . and is caught red-handed by Jinx
Unfortunately for her, Jinx returns and demands to know what she is doing.   “I’m doing this for your sake,” she begins, “Ffion and Gethin are having an affair – I was shocked when I saw them together at the garage.   They’re obviously more than friends.   I didn’t want you to find out this way.”
"I was looking for evidence!"
Their voices are raised as she insists, “That’s why I was looking for evidence on her phone – she’s making a fool of you!”
Ffion is just coming through the door
When Ffion comes in to see what the shouting is about, Jinx tells her, “She says you and Gethin are having an affair!”   As Ffion denies such a thing,
"What?" answers Gethin
Gethin arrives, and Jinx says the same thing to him.
“What?” answers Gethin, and Jinx orders Kelly out;
"You heard what Jinx said!"
when she appeals to Gethin, he tells her, “You heard what Jinx said!”
Kelly’s parting shot is to inform Ffion, “By the way, I bought that software – I thought you’d like to know.”
Ffion, incredibly calmly, pretends that she know
Ffion, with amazing restraint, calmly tells her, “Yes, I know!” and, deflated, Kelly leaves.
Dai, with his "Slimmer of the Week" badge boasts . . .
As Dai boasts about his slimming regime – smaller portions and no snacks, he accidentally pulls something from his pocket.
. . . until one of his secret weapons falls to the floor
DJ retrieves a one pound weight from the floor, and after blustering about Diane mischievously hiding it there, Dai admits that was his plan to appear to lose weight.
DJ challenges him to a fortnight's contest
DJ then challenges him to see which of them can lose the most in a fortnight, and Dai has to agree for fear of being shopped to Angela.
Hywel emphasises how sorry he is . . .
Hywel eventually goes home to Gaynor and tells her, “I want you to know I’m sorry, and that I love you!   I’ve done something stupid!”
. . . but Gaynor reveals she knows what he has been up to
Gaynor states, “You’re having an affair with Sheryl!   Do I really make you that unhappy?”   Hywel tells her that what they have is special;
"But you took her to our bed!"
“But you still had the gall to take her to our bed, didn’t you?” says Gaynor, “Are you going to leave me for her?”
He assures her that he loves her
Hywel is adamant that he is not, and does not want this to come between them, and when Gaynor asks who he loves, he is quick to reply, “You!”
Ffion is furious with Jinx about the software;  “You lied to my face!   Why didn’t you realise she is trying to come between us?   That’s what she has been doing since she arrived.   You know I’d never hurt you, don’t you?”
Jinx takes a lot of flak from Ffion
Jinx confirms that she is never going to lose him,
"Thanks to that cow!"
but Ffion growls, “I almost did, thanks to that cow!”
"He'll phone any minute now"
Sheryl is waiting with bated breath in the Deri, and informs Dani that Hywel is telling Gaynor tonight;  “He’ll phone any minute to tell me he’s on the way to the flat, you’ll see!” she insists.
Gaynor lays down the law
Meanwhile, Gaynor is laying down some rules;  “You have to end it, then maybe we can salvage this marriage, and no-one else need know.   We’ve had difficult times in the past, but made it work, and we can do the same again.
"Thank you for being so reasonable"
Hywel meekly answers, “Thank you for being so reasonable.”   Gaynor continues, “You are going to respect me from now on – it’s your last chance!   You sleep in the spare room until I decide otherwise.   Is there anything else for you to confess?”   He tells her there is not.
Hywel is so concerned about Gaynor's state
Hywel then hurries to the Deri, where Sheryl wants them to both to go to the flat, but he stops her.   “Gaynor is in pieces, I have to stay with her just for tonight as she’s so fragile.   She doesn’t have anyone, and I’m so worried about her.   Thank you for being so reasonable.
"Yes, we're going to be together.    I love you!"
Sheryl is convinced she has won;  “We’ll be together after tomorrow, won’t we?”
“Yes,” he replies, and as he leaves, he tells her, “I love you!”

24 February 2015

The garage door is open . . .
Garry arrives at the garage to find the door open;  he blames Gethin for not locking it, but Gethin is certain he did.
. . . and keys are missing . . .
Nothing appears to be missing, until Gethin discovers the key box is empty;  “Why take keys, but no cars?” he asks.
. . . Garry has a pretty fair idea who is to blame
Garry appears to have a suspect in mind.
Anita continues to dissuade Meic
Meic is in his suit, all ready to go, but Anita is still finding objections;  “Are you sure you’re all right?   Did you get enough sleep?   We don’t have to go today – we could do it another time.”   Despite his cough, Meic urges her to stop fussing.
Gethin is not interested in Cadno's phone call
As Gethin ignores a phone call from Cadno, Eifion arrives to collect his car, but is told it is not ready.
One disgruntled customer of Moduron Monk
“How long does it take to service a car?” he demands.   “The tracking needs attention,” Garry tells him, and assures Gethin that he will sort things out.
"Hand them over!"
Then Sioned comes in, and Garry demands, “Hand them over!   The keys – now!”   Sioned suggests that he fetches the taxis, and then they can discuss a compromise.   “You think you can get away with stealing £17,000 from me?” asks Garry, but she replies that if the taxis are not returned, he will not see the keys again.
“I meant what I said about lighting a match!” he tells her, and her retort is, “But you haven’t done anything!” as she struts off.
Iolo is in a hurry to go to a plumbing job
Wiliam calls at number 7 to tell Iolo he has booked a table for them at Cwm Delhi;  Iolo does not seem to welcome this news, as he is off on a plumbing job.
"Oh, hello," says Britt
Then Britt arrives, bringing a lasagne for Iolo and is surprised to see Wiliam there;  he tells her that he has just started with the police.   Iolo will text Wiliam when he finishes the job.
The Orient Express wends its way through the countryside
On the Orient Express,
Meic is not eating much
Anita is enjoying her food, while Meic only picks at his;  “We should have done more of this – travelling, and seeing the world together,” she says.
Anita would have liked to visit Japan
Meic enquires where she would have liked them to go, and she suggests Japan.   “There’s nothing to stop you going once I’ve . . .   but she tells him that it would not be the same.
Meic continues, “When I’ve departed, I don’t want you staying in the house on your own all the time;  you must go places and do things – and I want you to find a new man.   I’ve seen how other men look at you;  you’re a smart woman and I’m lucky to have you.”
"This is not the place to discuss such things"
Anita insists that this is not the place to discuss such things.
Cadno has caught up with Gethin, who is not very interested . . .
Having not made contact by phone, Cadno arrives at Ffion’s to talk to Gethin and tells him she has just dropped off the boys with Eifion and Angela.
. . . until Ffion arrives – then he will see Cadno at seven
At that moment, Ffion returns, so Gethin says he will meet Cadno at the Deri at seven, simply to make Ffion jealous.
Obviously the chap behind the counter does not speak Welsh
Iolo arrives at Cwm Delhi, where Wiliam is waiting for him, and admits that he does not like surprises;  “Sorry for my weird behaviour earlier,” he says.
Some pleasant classical violin music
A violinist is serenading Meic and Anita on board the train, then Anita notices that Meic looks very pale, and thinks they ought to go home.
"We can't go home," says Meic . . .
“We can’t – we’re in the middle of nowhere,” he protests,
. . . but Anita wants the train stopped
but she asks an attendant (in English) if the train could stop at the next station for them to get off.
"Why do you ruin everything?"
Meic is furious;  “Why do you ruin everything?”
Wiliam reveals his sexual history
Wiliam tells Iolo that friends set him up with a date with a girl called Hannah when he was 15, but it felt wrong;  “That’s when I knew,” he says.   Iolo simply says that he has never been interested in girls.
Iolo is about to tell Wiliam something
“I want to tell you something before you hear it from someone else.” Iolo begins, but Wiliam interrupts to say that he knows – his step-mother is the sister of Garry Monk, and it is no big deal.
Sioned has a business proposition for Garry . . .
Sioned again strides into the garage, telling him, “We should do business together!   The taxis would be ideal for you to transport stuff from A to B.   We’re similar – we both know what we want and will not let anything stand in our way.”
. . . but Garry just wants his money back
Despite Garry insisting that the only thing he wants is to get back the money she stole, she describes her plan as, “Ideal – I keep the taxis, and you’ll get your money back.”
At least, she returns the missing keys
She pulls from her bag a handful of keys and puts them on his desk;  in return he gives her the taxi keys.
As she leaves she asserts that as soon as she has paid him back the money, they can do business together;
"Think about it," suggests businesswoman Sioned
“Think about it,” she says.
Back at number 7
Iolo and Wiliam are back at number 7, where Iolo admits that the reason he has been so distant is that he has OCD.
He explains what the OCD entails
“I can’t handle surprises, I need everything to be in its place and I have to have a routine.   Cleanliness was an issue, but it’s not as bad now.   I did have to see a psychiatrist.”
"No more surprises"
Wiliam wishes that he had know this earlier, and promises, “No more surprises.”
Back home after the abortive journey
Anita and Meic arrive home, and Anita intends to watch a film on TV, but Meic is going to have a lie down.   “Do you need anything?   Shall I wake you later?” she asks, but Meic is downcast.
"You make all the decisions these days!"
“You decide,” he tells her, “You make all the decisions these days!”
Mark's chat-up technique
Cadno sits alone in the Deri, waiting for Gethin, when Mark decides to try his luck.   “There’s nothing more sad than a woman drinking alone,” he tells her, “You shouldn’t be sitting there, looking at the wall.”
Cadno is emphatic;  “It’s better than looking at you!”
She looks decidedly happier when Gethin arrives
When Gethin comes in she urges him to, “Rescue me from him, will you?”   Then Gethin discovers he has left his wallet at home, so Cadno has to pay.
Ffion has her eye on Gethin . . .
When Ffion comes into the Deri,
. . . which is exactly what Gethin planned . . .
he makes sure she notices how close he and Cadno are becoming.
Cadno has a phone call, telling her that Bobi has been sick, and as she hurriedly leaves,
. . . followed by a convincing kiss
Gethin ostentatiously kisses her, making sure that Ffion notices.   When Mark asks, “What’s going on there?” Ffion replies,
"Mind your own business!"
“For once in your life, mind your own business!”
"Now it's gone for ever!"
When Meic comes downstairs, he tells Anita that they have to talk sensibly.   “I was angry earlier as that was the only chance to do something together that we had left.   Now it’s gone for ever.   I may as well be back at the hospice.   Never treat me again the way you did today!
"I don't want a nurse – I want a partner!"
“I don’t want a nurse – I want a partner!”
