As she and Dai walk down the street, Diane insists that she needs some help with the laundry business, but Dai is adamant they cannot afford it. Dai maintains that Mal and Gwynfor should, “Come and collect their own pants,” rather than having them delivered.

Anita wants to watch a James Bond DVD, but Meic would rather go out;

“The walls are closing in on me!” he tells her, but she says it is supposed to rain today.

Then Debbie arrives, bringing a cake from the café and also a hat, “Useful for people with cancer who lose their hair.”
This causes Meic some amusement, and he explains, “They’re for people who have had chemotherapy, who lose their hair. I haven’t, so I won’t!”

He puts on the hat and tells Anita that he could go out in the Antarctic wearing it.

DJ admits to Cadno that he has not worn his suit for ages, and she is fretting that the dress she ordered yesterday will not suit her. “We’ll both be in overalls, then,” concludes DJ.
Then Gethin arrives, bringing a parcel Mark has just delivered –

Cadno’s expensive dress. “What is it, Court appearance or party?” asks Gethin, when he sees the suit and new dress.

Gethin’s excuse is that he has come to look at the tractor DJ was talking about, but that has already been mended;

“Come and have a look,” says DJ.
In APD, Gwyneth is complaining about a light bulb which only lasted two weeks, when Gemma comes in to apply for the job.

“What job?” asks Dai, and she says that she heard him and Diane talking.

“Do you think we’d give you a job after all you’ve done?” rages Dai.

Gemma calls them “snobs” and flounces out, as Dai insists, “Only a fool would give her a job!”

As they enjoy tea and cake, Debbie says she went to Bethania to light a candle for Meic, “But they don’t do that sort of thing there,” and this is the last straw.

He gets up and announces, “I’m going where I’ll be treated like a normal person! Candles, indeed!”

Gethin drives Cadno to the salon, where he tells Sheryl that she must have won the lottery, with hairdo and new dress. “I’d say she has a date,” suggests Sheryl, but is told it is just the Young Farmers with DJ.

After Gethin has gone, Sheryl diagnoses, “He was flirting with you!”

When Meic goes to the Deri and orders, “One of those Jagerbombs,” Siôn asks if he is sure, and Anita wonders what is wrong with him. He tells them, “I want my freedom back, I’m sick of being treated like a child! I’m ordering this, not Anita!”
Siôn is still not sure he should serve Meic, but Britt takes over, saying that she is happy to do so.

As she drops a small glass into the larger one, Meic asserts, “I may not enjoy it, but I don’t want to die without trying one!”

He takes a swig, turns away and grimaces.

Marian tells DJ he looks very smart, and enquires whether this is “a date”, of course receiving the answer that they are “friends”.

Cadno comes in, wearing the new dress; DJ tells her she looks lovely, and Marian says it fits perfectly. As they are about to go, Marian whispers to DJ,

As Meic has a rather unsteady game of darts with Gwynfor, Siôn still thinks he should not have had that drink. Britt’s response is, “He’s ill, not under-age, and it’s made him happy.”

Anita worries that she is making things worse for him, and Debbie says he just wants to enjoy himself while he can.

Gwynfor helps him back to the bar, and Anita thinks it is time to go home. “The night is still young!” Meic protests.

When she suggests picking up a curry on the way home, he agrees, “That’s how every wild night should end!”

Gemma goes to the salon asking if Sheryl wants to go for that drink she mentioned the other day, but Sheryl is too busy.

Outside, Gemma bumps into Mark, who also turns down a pint at the Deri with her. Dai and Diane, who are just locking up APD, pass,

and Mark tells them that he and Gemma do not have much to say to each other these days.
Dai states, “Mark does not want a drink with you – leave him alone!” As they walk away,

Gemma shouts after them, but Gwyneth calms her down. “I’ve had enough! I don’t deserve this!” says Gemma.
Next into the salon is, as expected, Hywel, angry that his calls are not being answered. When Sheryl says she is busy, he asks, “With work, or chatting to men online?”

but she does leave with him, as Gaynor is out somewhere.

Mark goes into the Deri, where he finds Debbie alone and mournful; she tells him that Meic has been pretending to enjoy himself. “He’s never going to be Meic again; I can’t stand seeing him suffer,” she wails,

At Gwyneth’s, Gemma says she could have strangled Dai, but Gwyneth advises her to keep her head down and ignore them.

At Penrhewl, someone with a torch is moving around the kitchen, looking in drawers, when the stairs light goes on, and Marian’s voice calls, “Catherine, DJ, is that you?”

The intruder hides behind a table, then rushes past Marian to escape; Marian clutches her chest in panic.

Meic sits down at the table to eat the curry, but Anita wants him to sit in front of the television, so they can watch one of those “Makeover” programmes. “You don’t record that rubbish, do you?” asks Meic.
