Jinx is fixated with this software
Gethin encourages Jinx that if this software is as good as he says, it will be worth it.   Ffion reports that the car will not start, and Jinx replies, “It’s a good job our lodger is a mechanic!”
"Don't call him a lodger"
When Gethin has gone to look at the car, Ffion complains about him being referred to as a “lodger”;  “We  don’t want him to think it’s permanent!”
"We can't afford that sort of money!"
Then Jinx drops the bombshell that this software costs about £2,000.   “What?   We don’t have that – with two children we’ll need every penny.   If you want to do something for the adoption process, get rid of the lodger!   We don’t want a stranger living here.”
They appear unaware that Chester has had plastic surgery
Chester (who has mysteriously metamorphosed into someone else) complains that he has been given no crisps for school,
Siôn pontificates on giving up things at Lent
and Siôn preaches that they have to be given up for Lent, along with chocolate.   This does not go down well, and Britt is similarly displeased.
Cadno reports to DJ that since the party Gethin has not contacted her;  she has tickets to watch a band in Carmarthen tonight, and asks DJ if he thinks Gethin might come.
"Why not just ask Gethin?"
He tells her she can but ask.
Gethin is looking for a bar job to make ends meet
At the garage, Gethin tells Garry that he has applied for a bar job to make some money.   Then, as Garry orders him to get on with servicing a car, Meic comes in to ask Garry if he will drive him to a couple of places in Swansea.
Meic wants to be driven to Swansea
“Why ask me?” says Garry, and Meic’s reply is, “You’re one of the few people who don’t treat me as if I’m about to kick the bucket!”
Kelly compliments Jinx on his photography
Kelly tells Jinx in the café that the paper was very pleased with his photos, and wants more for an article on bullying;
He talks of the tremendously expensive software
he tells her about his wish to get into computer graphics and the price of the software.   Kelly immediately offers to loan him the money;  “It’s important that nothing should stand in your way,” she says, “You really should do what you love and enjoy.   I’ll buy it for you, and there’s no rush to pay it back!”
"Dad's doing his religious stuff," says Iolo
Megan phones Siôn, bending his ear about the lack of progress with treating the damp at Bethania.
"We cannot afford Lent!"
Then Britt tells him that they cannot afford Lent;  “Running the Deri into the ground won’t solve your guilty conscience!”
Meic's note, telling Anita not to wait up for him
When Garry calls to pick up Meic, he has written a note to Anita;  “Gone to see a friend – don’t wait up for me.”
Garry is incredulous that Meic wants to "blow" the money
He tells Garry, “I’m going to blow half of the Deri Deithio money tonight, but don’t tell Anita about it!”
"Go round to the garage and see him"
Cadno and DJ go to the Deri, looking for Gethin;  DJ advises her to go round to the garage, and tell Gethin there is a problem with one of the tractors.
No, Gethin says he is busy tonight
She does so, but when she casually mentions the band, Gethin says he is busy tonight.
DJ gets advice from Iolo
Meanwhile, Iolo asks DJ the identity of the lucky bloke that Cadno is after;  when he is told, he concludes that if Gethin has not made a move, then he is not interested.   He also tells DJ that he should let Cadno know just how he feels about her.
The Roulette Table
At a Swansea Casino, Meic and Garry approach a table;  “Place your bets,” says the croupier (in English).
"You're not betting all that £5,000?"
Garry is amazed that Meic wants to bet £5,000.
"What else can I do with it?"
“What else can I do with it?” replies Meic, “Buy a nicer headstone?”
Garry breaks the news about his suspicions
Garry then tells him that he has reason to believe that Sioned paid for the taxi business with money she stole from him;  “They found it, and kept it, although I have no proof.”
Meics response is predictable;  “Nefi wen!   That girl can be so foolish sometimes!   But she’s the child of my best friend in Cwmderi, so I don’t want you to harm her in any way!”
"Deal!   I won't touch a hair on Sioned's head."
Garry agrees, “Deal!   You spend this money the way you planned, and I won’t touch a hair on Sioned’s head.”
"I'll come with you, if you like"
Cadno meets DJ outside the Deri and reports that Gethin was not interested;  DJ suggests, “I’ll come with you instead, if you don’t mind.”
"It's no big deal!"
Back at Penrhewl, she is afraid she made a fool of herself with Gethin, but DJ is becoming increasingly irritated.   “You asked him out, he said no, it happens all the time – it’s no big deal!”
"You don't have a love life!"
Cadno replies, “It’s all right for you – you don’t have a love life!”
Gethin dreams of settling down with Ffion
When Ffion arrives home, Gethin is cooking Thai Green Curry, and says, “I could get used to this, cooking for you.   I want to take care of you.”
"It's fantasy, Geth!"
“The homeless man with no money!   It’s fantasy, Geth!” replies Ffion, “I live here with another man and a child, and we’re about to adopt.”
“But it’s the wrong man!” insists Gethin.
Ffion apologises to Jinx
When Jinx comes home, Ffion apologises for her outburst, and he says he can see her point of view.
Meic ought to stop while he is ahead
At the casino, Meic’s £5,000 appears to have grown to £8,000;  Garry comments, “For someone wanting to spend a fortune, you’re not doing very well!”
He bets £4,000 . . .
Meic then bets a whole £4,000 on the next spin of the roulette wheel — and loses.
Later, after another spin of the wheel,
. . . and soon he has lost it all
Meic announces, “It’s all gone!” although Garry has made almost £2,000.
"I've done everything I wanted to do!"
Meic adds, “To be honest, it’s a bit of a let down, but I’ve done everything I wanted to do – it’s a great feeling!”
"We have a deal – remember?"
He then reminds Garry, “We have a deal – remember?”
