30 November 2015

Siôn is complimentary about Catrin's work . .
Siôn praises Catrin’s school work, while Chester is occupied playing a shoot-up game;
. . . less so with Chester
“If you put that much effort into your school work, you’d be at Oxford,” grumbles Siôn.
“Like you, eh?” is Chester’s response.
"More translation work"
Siôn tells Britt that he has been offered some more translation work by a legal company, as someone has let them down.   Britt advises him not to put Chester down, or compare him to Catrin.
Sheryl has not has a good night
Sheryl has had a disturbed night, and apologises for the way she behaved, accusing Hywel of sending her mother away.   “Maybe it’s a good thing, so you and I can start dealing with things,” he tells her,
She finds a letter very interesting
but she takes little notice as she has opened a letter and is carefully reading it.
Hywel suggests going out for lunch, and choosing a Christmas tree;
"Her baby died in the same way as Meilyr"
Sheryl informs him, “It’s from Linda, who lives just outside Cwmderi.   Her baby died in the same way as Meilyr – she’s offering support.   I can’t go to lunch, I’m going back to work.”
Hywel considers this may be a good idea – to think of something different for a few hours, and it may do her a world of good.
"I'll be the old Sheryl again?"
But she sarcastically replies, “And by the end of the week, I’ll be the old Sheryl again – fine and dandy?   See you later.”
Plumbing problem under the bar
Peering under the Deri bar, Iolo tells Siôn that the water has to stay off until he replaces a pipe.
Britt wrestles with the lights
Britt is trying to untangle Christmas lights, and when Dani comes in she says she is dreading getting hers down from the attic;  “I bet half of them will be broken!”   She has been shopping,
"This top for parties . . ."
and shows Britt the top she has bought for parties,
". . . and this for Garry!"
and the item for Garry;  “We’ve got to keep the spark alive!” she comments.
Britt is cynical
Britt replies that the only sparks she and Siôn experience is when they argue.   Dani advises,
"We have a 'date night' every week"
“You need a night off.   Garry and I have a ‘date night’ every week – no Gwern, no work, just the two of us.   You have to remind each other why you fell in love in the first place!”
Royal Mail doing maintenance
As a man is painting the pillarbox, Gaynor sees Hywel and tells him,
"Izzy has been in touch"
“Izzy has been in touch about Christmas.   She and Lois are coming home.”   Knowing what she is about to say,
"Please don't throw us out of Llwyncelyn"
Hywel pleads not to be thrown out of Llwyncelyn before Christmas, explaining how Sheryl is still very fragile, and that things between them are not good.
"My Escort for the Evening"
In the salon, Vicky is looking at the ‘My Escort for the Evening’ website and phones them.   “I’m 22 and have done this kind of work before – restaurants, opera, the races.   Can I send you some photos?”
Dani disapproves
When Dani looks disapproving, she argues, “I have to make some money, and don’t get much here.
"I don't have any option"
Until you restart Cwmni Perffaith, I don’t have any option.   Nicky needs so many things – I don’t want him growing up like I did!”
"The salon is mighty quiet!"
When Sheryl comes in, she is surprised at how quiet the salon is and remarks that she wants more work and less chat.
The light go up in the Deri
As they put up the lights, Siôn tells Britt they can buy some new ones in the sales for next year;  “If we’re still here then!” is Britt’s gloomy comment.   He protests that the Deri is doing well, and he has more translation work.
"What about us?   Are we doing well?"
Britt asks, “What about us?   Are we doing well?   Are you happy about how things are between us?   All we do is argue these days – when was the last time we had a real laugh?”
The conversation is halted
Before he can answer, Iolo returns to effect the repair, having been delayed when called to an emergency at the school.
"Have you heard about the school closing?"
He tells them, “Their boiler is hopeless, but the caretaker told me they won’t get a new one, as the school is closing.”
Siôn is indignant;  “That’s a disgrace!   That school has been part of the community for fifty years!”
The community comes first
and he rushes off to get the laptop so he can consult the council website.   He insists that he must sort the matter out before continuing the conversation with Britt.
"They want to see me on Wednesday"
At the salon, Vicky receives a phone call;  she tells Dani, “They want to see me on Wednesday.   I would prefer to work for Cwmni Perffaith, but you’ve thrown everything away because of Diane, just when things were going really well!”
"You did sleep with a client!"
Dani reminds her that she did sleep with a client;  her justification is,
"Yes – but I didn't charge!"
“I didn’t charge – and I promise it won’t happen again!”   Dani tells her that she will think about it.
"Are you sure you should be here?"
Sheryl apologises to Dani for her outburst earlier, and Dani wonders whether she is ready to come back to work.
"He's driving me mad!"
She replies, “Hywel is driving me mad, in the house all day.   He just watches everything I do, trying to find a sign that I’m ‘normal’ again!   He wanted to find a Christmas tree today – I can’t bear to be in the same room as him!   Every time he wants to get close, I push him away.”
A hug from Dani
Dani gives her a hug.
"I don't want to look like a 'saddo'!"
Gaynor is reading a book in the Deri;  she tells Britt, “I don’t want to look like a ‘saddo’, drinking alone on  Monday night.   The girls are coming home, and I was hoping to move back to Llwyncelyn, but Hywel wants to stay until the New Year.
"You don't have to agree!"
Britt reminds her that she does not have to agree.
"Did you speak to Siôn?"
Then Britt complains to Dani that Siôn did not listen to a word she said;  “I’m sure I’d get more attention if I were a threat to the community!”   Dani urges her to go out somewhere with Siôn,
"Keep some independence"
but Britt advises, “Keep some independence in your relationship with Garry – when you give everything, that’s when they take you for granted.”
Hywel is getting into the Christmas spirit
Hywel has almost finished decorating the Christmas tree when Sheryl returns,
A difference of opinion about the letter
and is insistent she wants him to read the letter.   He is equally adamant he does not want to read a stranger’s letter.   “Every word is about me,” Sheryl tells him,
"I want us to meet her"
“I’m in this letter – just read it, and I want us to meet her.   She runs a charity and supports people like us.”
Despite his protests, she gives him the letter;
He crumples the letter into a ball
he reads a few words and then crumples it in his hand.
Oven chips for dinner
As Vicky puts frozen oven chips on to cook, Dani visits and tells her,
"It may have been a bit hasty, closing it"
“I’ve been thinking about Cwmni Perffaith – it may have been a bit hasty, closing it.   I think we can run it better by ourselves – we should give it a try.”
Vicky has to think of what to tell Mark
Mark comes home and Vicky spins a tale about possibly being trained as a stylist.
"I'm glad you've forgotten about this escort business"
Mark is impressed;  “That’s a good start – I’m glad you’ve forgotten about this escort business.”
Chester plays his game again
Chester is playing his noisy game again,
"I can't concentrate with all this noise!"
with Siôn protesting that he cannot concentrate.
Siôn is not listening to Britt
Britt has booked a table at Plas Cwm Du on Thursday evening, but Siôn is preoccupied about his complicated translation.
To prove he has done his homework, Chester shows Siôn the laptop;  Siôn immediately points out the grammatical errors in his work.   “There’s no effort gone into this!” he moans.
Britt chides him that he should help Chester rather than criticise him.
“I don’t want his help!” shouts Chester.
"Do what you want!   I don't care!"
Siôn furiously rages at him, “Do what you want!   Throw away your education and play games!   I don’t care!”   Britt asks again if he wants to go to Plas Cwm Du on Thursday or Friday.   “You decide!” retorts Siôn.
Britt snarls that she will go on her own in that case,
"Loser!"
and, with a smile, Chester mocks him, “Loser!”
"Did you read the letter?"
Sheryl asks if Hywel has read the letter;
"There's enough grief as it is"
“No, I don’t want anyone else’s grief in this house!   There’s enough as it is.
"Why can't we help each other?"
Why aren’t I enough?   Why can’t we help each other?”
"Pretending we're moving on?"
“By buying a Christmas tree and posh wine and pretending we’re moving on?” demands Sheryl.
“What do you suggest – sit on the sofa and cry?” says Hywel, “Not a second goes by, I don’t think of Meilyr and ask myself if I could have done something– buying a different mattress, checking the temperature – I blame myself!”
"I blame you too!"
“I know, I blame you too!” she replies, “I know it’s unfair, but I blame you, and when I’m not, I’m blaming myself for stealing you from Gaynor and all the hurt!”
"We fell in love!"
Hywel protests that they fell in love, but she continues, “No, you fell in love with the baby.   You wouldn’t have left Gaynor if I were not pregnant!   We don’t deserve to be happy.
"Everything was wrong!"
It was wrong – everything was wrong!   That’s why we can’t be together any more – we have to face facts.
"You and me – we're over!"
You and me – we’re over!”
