Britt has been shot in the chest
As Britt is rushed into the hospital, the ambulance personnel give the details;  “Britt White, 48 year old female, gunshot wound to the right chest, arrested as she was being taken out of the ambulance.”   Siôn glowers at Chester,
Chester is understandably upset
who is in tears.
Diane and Sara stumble upon the scene
As Diane and Sara are on their way home, they come across the scene outside Bethania.
"Britt has been shot – by Chester!"
Gaynor, who appears shaken, informs them, “Britt has been shot – by Chester!”
Iolo reports that Catrin and Aaron are being looked after
Iolo tells Anita that Catrin and Aaron are being looked after by Ffion;
"Who knows what happened?"
Colin comments, “Who knows what happened – he shot his mother!”
DS Davies needs a base in the village
The detective on the case, DS Davies, asks if she can use Yr Antur as a base to talk to people.
"I wanted to get the builders in"
Sara tells Diane she had hoped to have the builders into Yr Antur by the new year to convert it into an open-plan area.
"You want the whole ground floor?"
This shocks Diane, who thought that Awyr Iach only wanted one unit, but Sara insists they require the whole ground floor;  “Otherwise we shall have to find somewhere else.”
Garry finds that his phone lists 25 missed calls;
"Will the police want to talk to me?"
Chester asks, “Do you think the police will want to talk to me?”   Garry advises him not to tell them that he argued with Siôn, or they will suspect that the two of them do not get on, and Siôn echoes this advice.
"If I thought it were a real gun . . ."
Chester pleads, “If I thought it were a real gun, I would never have . . .”   Garry reassures him that it is not his fault, but simply an accident, as the gun should not have been there.
Siôn cannot resist preaching
Siôn begins to pontificate that children should not be allowed to play with guns, real or not;  Dani tells him that all children do, and that even Gwern has one.   “I got it off Gwern,” says Chester, “He found it and we swapped.”
"She has lost a lot of blood"
Dr Ashton arrives to inform Siôn that Britt has lost a lot of blood and is in a serious condition, but they are doing everything possible.
Siôn glowers at Garry
Siôn looks accusingly at Garry.
Gwern is rather subdued
Gwyneth is concerned that Gwern is sitting quietly and not opening his presents;  she asks if he is worried about Auntie Britt.
"She'll be angry with me!"
“She’ll be angry with me!   I gave the gun to Chester!” he admits, and upon further questioning, reveals, “I saw Siôn hiding it.”
Mother reassures him
She does her best to reassure him that he has done nothing wrong.
"Of course I'll keep your name out of this"
Outside the hospital, Garry is on the phone;  “Just keep your distance!   Of course I’ll keep your name out of it – what do you think I am?   Don’t phone me until this has blown over.”
"You promised me someone was coming to get it!"
Siôn joins him, demanding, “Why was the gun in the chapel?   You promised me that someone was coming to get it.”   Garry admits that Gwern found it, and Siôn explodes,
"Why the hell were there bullets in it?"
“Why the hell were there bullets in it?   You lied to me!”
Garry maintains that it was better that he did not know;
"It's important we keep calm"
“It’s important that we keep calm and have to get our stories straight.”   Siôn insists that his story is straight – Garry asked him to hide the gun, and he did so for money.   He does not intend to tell any more lies.
“Don’t do anything rash!” warns Garry, “Remember the children – we could go to jail!”
"They're arresting Chester!"
At this point, Dani finds them and announces that Chester is being arrested for attempted murder;  they all rush back into the hospital.
Chester does not like the handcuffs
As Chester is handcuffed, Siôn protests that everyone saw it was an accident.   The detective points out that she is following procedure, and they will need a responsible adult to be present at the questioning;  Garry offers to contact Georgina.   All the witnesses will be required to give statements by tomorrow at the latest.
He is led away
As Chester is led away,
"Yes, I have the keys – and Megan Harries"
DS Davies asks, “Am I right in thinking you have the keys to the chapel?”   Siôn confirms this and adds that Megan Harries also has a set.
"There is a chance of brain damage"
Siôn is then informed that Britt is out of theatre, where they treated a wound to the heart.   Dr Ashton warns, “There is a chance of some damage to the brain as a result of the heart attack in the ambulance, but we shall know more when she wakes up.”
"This is all your fault!"
Siôn turns on Garry and tells him this is all his fault.
Presumably, the brunette is Georgina
Chester is questioned at the police station;  he tells them, “I got the gun from Gwern, my cousin.   I let him borrow my game in exchange for the gun.   I didn’t give it to an adult, as I thought it was just a toy.”
"Did it cross your mind that it was a real gun?"
He is asked if it did not cross his mind that it was a real gun.   “If I had known that, I wouldn’t have pointed it at anyone,” he replies.
The DS then asks, “What is your relationship like with Siôn?   I heard that you don’t get on – is that true?   You wanted to scare him?   I heard that you are always arguing.”   Chester simply answers that she is wrong.
"Chester has been given bail"
Dani goes back to the flat, where she tells Garry that Chester has been released on bail, and is with Ffion, where the other two children are staying.   “He’s not allowed to contact any of the witnesses until they clear his name – or charge him!”
"I'm in a lot of trouble!"
Garry confesses, “I’m in a lot of trouble!   It’s my fault the gun was in the chapel – I was hiding it for someone.   Siôn knew it was there, and he wants to tell the police.   The bloke was meant to pick it up, but Gwern got there first!”
"What's wrong with you?"
“What is wrong with you?” demands Dani, “Hiding a gun in the chapel?   What’s it got to do with Siôn?”   He informs her that he asked Siôn to hide it, as he gave Siôn the chapel money.   Dani begins to see:  “You blackmailed him!”
"The arrangement suited us both"
Garry merely describes it as an arrangement which suited both of them.
Garry runs through the sequence of events
They are paid a visit by DS Davies, and Garry describes what happened;  “I saw Chester messing about with the gun – he thought it was a toy, but it looked real to me.   I just reacted and tried to stop him, but he pulled the trigger.”   In response to the query about why the loaded gun was in the chapel, he says he has no idea.
Siôn is by Britt's bedside
As Siôn sits, holding Britt’s hand, Gwyneth comes into the room.
"Gwern saw you with the gun!"
“The police are coming to question Gwern tomorrow – he saw you with the gun.   Are you going to tell me why you had a gun in the chapel?”
Siôn readily admits all that has happened;  “I stole £20,000 from the chapel, and had to pay it back before anyone found out.   I thought I could borrow it from Garry and pay him back monthly.”
"So Garry asked you to hide the gun?"
sees where this is leading;  “So Garry asked you to hide the gun?   What came over you, asking Garry for help?”   Siôn maintains he thought he was doing the right thing.
Siôn intends to confess to everything
“Just let Gwern tell the truth,” he urges Gwyneth, “Once I know that Britt’s all right, and the children are sorted, I’ll do the same.”   Britt’s monitors suddenly start emitting an alarm sound, and Siôn summons a nurse.
"Chester wouldn't know a real gun if he saw one"
Dani tells the detective, “Chester wouldn’t know a real gun if he saw one;  he wouldn’t hurt anyone – he worships his mother.”   She is then asked about his relationship with his step-father.
"Boys that age always go against their dad"
Garry interrupts, “Boys that age always go against their dad – deep down they like each other.”   The detective leaves them,
"I can't lie any more!"
and Dani tells Garry that she cannot lie, knowing that Chester could go to jail.
"You know what I do!"
“You know what I do,” he answers, I don’t pay for the contents of your wardrobe by changing tyres!   You’re not that naïve!”
"I can't be with you right now!"
Dani is concerned;  “I never thought you could drag so many innocent people into this!   I can’t stay here – I can’t be with you right now!”   He argues that she knows he would never endanger Gwern or anyone else’s children.
“No, I don’t know you at all,” she replies, “You’re better off without me – I don’t know if I’m on your side!”
Garry finds Gwyneth and Siôn sitting in the hospital, waiting for news.   “What’s she doing here?” he demands.
"It's all over, Garry!"
Siôn explains that it is all over, as Gwern saw him with the gun, so knew where to find it.
Britt is back in the operating theatre
The doctor returns with ominous news;  Britt has been taken back to theatre with internal bleeding caused by another heart attack.
"Prepare yourself for the worst"
“Maybe you should prepare yourself for the worst,” she warns.
"Britt believed in organ donation"
Siôn’s reaction to this is to advise the doctor that Britt believed in organ donation, but this infuriates Garry, who grabs him and snarls,
"Don't talk about my sister like that!"
“Don’t talk about my sister like that!   She is still alive!   I know her better than you, and she’s going to be all right!   She isn’t going to die – Britt lives through everything!”
Walking out into the corridor, Garry tries to ring Dani, but only hears a recorded message;
Overcome by guilt
he dissolves into tears.
