24 December 2015

"Special Delivery, Sher!"
Mark brings Vicky to the salon and announces, “Special delivery!”   Sheryl is glad that she has come, but Vicky says nothing.
"It's none of your business!"
When Sheryl asks who is looking after Nicky, she receives the answer, “It’s none of your business!”
"I hope you'll be able to forgive me"
Sheryl again says how sorry she is, and hopes that Vicky may eventually be able to forgive her.
Dai listens to the conversation
Dai listens as Diane tells someone on the phone,
"Things are terrible here!"
“Things are terrible here!   He still thinks something’s going on.   Thanks for the chat – I’d be lost without you.”
"Do you think that was 'J' again?"
Then she remarks to Dai, “Do you think that was ‘J’ again?   Well, this is the best performance yet – you deserve an award!   It was Anita, and I wanted to invite her and Kelly to Christmas dinner.   For the last time, nothing is going on between me and ‘J’!”
"Instead of APD and your husband!"
“No wonder you went behind my back to get ‘J’ and Awyr Iach into the Antur, instead of APD and your husband!” replies Dai.   Diane admits that she did enjoy that bit of flirting, and that is all it was,
"Getting compliments in this house is a rare occurrence!"
as getting compliments in their house is a rare occurrence.
“What were you doing on Monday then?   Fishing for more compliments?”  he demands.
“For the hundredth time, I was buying you a Christmas present!” Diane tells him in exasperation.
"How do you explain this, then?"
The situation does not improve when a bouquet is delivered, and Dai asks her to explain the card –
The card accompanying the flowers
Thanks for all your help, J – kiss, kiss.
"After Christmas – it's over!"
I”m willing to play out this charade that everything is fine until after Christmas – but then it’s all over!” is Dai’s considered opinion.
Chester with his mates
Siôn finds Chester in the café with two of his mates,
"Would you like to help out?"
and asks them to help out at the play rehearsal;
"Go away, Siôn!"
Chester replies, “Unlike me, they get to choose!   Go away, Siôn!”
Careful to leave no fingerprints . . .
In Bethania, Garry, wisely wearing vinyl gloves, loads a bullet into the magazine,
. . . Garry assembles the gun
then inserts it into the gun.   Siôn is disturbed to find him there;
"Anyone could have walked in!"
“Anyone could have walked in!” he says, but Garry points out that they did not.
"Father Christmas – what's he on about?"
Garry tells him, “You know the letter you sent to Father Christmas?   Well, he read it, and this will be gone by tomorrow morning.   I’ll show you where to put it in the vestry, and it will be collected in the next twelve hours.”
"The vestry will be in use"
Siôn is extremely relieved by this news, but then realises that the rehearsal will take place there this evening.
"He's not keen to be seen with it"
“I don’t think this guy is keen to be seen with it, any more than you are,” says Garry, “Try to show some of the backbone you showed when you helped yourself to Bethania’s money.   It will all be over by the morning!”
"It will be over by the morning!"
patting Siôn comfortingly on the shoulder.
Vicky begins her plan to boost her finances
Vicky has a word with Sheryl;  “You know I’m struggling financially – Nicky needs so many things.   I thought you could contribute, under the circumstances.”   Sheryl replies that she would have to go to the cashpoint, but could give her £100.
"I need a pay rise"
“No, you misunderstood – I need a pay rise.   You’ve shown me how important it is that Nicky has a proper babysitter, and they’re not cheap,” she smirks.
"We won't be needing your officiating services after all"
Siôn has visited Angela’s, where Eifion tells him his services will no longer be required, but ask him to keep the secret.   Siôn asks Courtney to do a reading tomorrow.
"Las Vegas wedding!"
When he has gone, Courtney is excited at the prospect of a Las Vegas wedding;  Eifion explains that they want to keep it quiet, as families tend to take over wedding planning.
Eifion has pricy camera
He has bought a posh camera to record the occasion;  “You deserve the best,” he assures Angela, and Courtney hugs him.
The call with Angela's MRI scan results
The phone rings and Angela is given the result of her MRI scan;  she collapses on the sofa in relief, telling Eifion,
"I'm going to be OK!"
“It’s clear!   I’m going to be OK!”
Dai is nearly ready to leave
Dai humps his case downstairs, while Diane protests that he has to believe her.
"We'll be together in no time – kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss"
He informs her, “In case you have trouble remembering, I’ve printed out some of the e-mails in black and white, so you can both read them and laugh at me!   This is my favourite – ‘We’ll be together in no time, kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss’!”
They are disturbed by the arrival of two figures in red Santa outfits, who are revealed to be Diane’s son, Jason and his wife, Sara.
Diane has her Jason back
While Diane is ecstatic at their unexpected arrival, Dai sits morosely, and asks,
"When did you engineer this, then?"
“When did you engineer this, then?   We’ve had too many surprises in this house!”
"What's wrong with you two?"
Jason demands, “For heaven’s sake, what’s wrong with you two?   We’ve come a long way to see you, Mam!”   Diane relents and suggests cooking steak and chips, which goes down well with her son,
No, he definitely look disgruntled
but Dai remains stony-faced.
As they go to get their cases from the car,
"Please, Dai!"
Diane begs, “Please, Dai!”
"Only until after Christmas!"
but he reiterates that any co-operation on his part is only until after Christmas.
Vicky's extortion plan proceeds
Vicky advises that she expects more than £100 extra, which Sheryl is not sure she can afford;  “Just go online and see how much nannies cost,” suggests Vicky.
Two similar antenatal scans
As Sheryl answers the phone, Vicky notices the antenatal scan of Meilyr in her bag, and compares it with her scan of Nicky.
"I can remember that as if it were yesterday"
Sheryl tells her, “He was five months, and I remember it as though it were yesterday.   He was kicking so much, reminding me that he was there, so full of life.”
Vicky abandons her extortion plans
Vicky pauses for a moment and her mood changes;  “I’m sorry,” she says, “I’ve been trying to convince myself, but I can’t take advantage of you like this.   You did bring him back – please forgive me, Sheryl!   I’m starting to understand why you did it – most mothers will understand.”
"I won't be coming back"
She picks up her coat and bag, adding, “I won’t be coming back – that would be best.”
“You don’t have to,” insists Sheryl, “I was wrong about you – you’re a very special mother, and Nicky is lucky to have you.”
Well, at least these two are reconciled
They hug, and Vicky leaves.
"Helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon!"
Courtney is becoming even more excited;  “Look, we can go on a helicopter to see the Grand Canyon!” but Eifion’s enthusiasm seems definitely to be on the wane.
"You've got no excuse to be lazy now"
He tells Angela that she can cook the Lasagne for dinner tonight;  “You’ve got no excuse to be lazy now – or rather you don’t need so much attention.   I’m taking this camera back to the shop – it will save a fortune!
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
Why are you looking at me like that?   We don’t need it any more – there’s no hurry now, is there?   Everything is back to normal –
"Eifion is certainly back to normal!"
are you going to chop the onions, then?”
They have called at Britt's chippy
As she and Mark eat their takeaway, Vicky tells him it would be a mistake to keep working at the salon, then reveals that the reason she was not here, looking after Nicky, on Wednesday was that she is still doing work for Cwmni Perffaith,
"I was at a Christmas party"
and was at a Christmas party with her usual customer.
"Do you think that's wise?"
Mark is dubious about this job, but she insists that she wants Nicky to have nice things, and wants to be a good mother.
In a moment of solitude . . .
Thinking he is alone,
. . . Siôn wraps up the gun . . .
Siôn carefully wraps the gun in a cloth, and places it in the chest as arranged.
. . . but is under surveillance
He does not see Gwern peering out from between the costumes,
"That is certainly a weight off my mind!"
but closes the lid and returns to the rehearsal.
Gwern quickly retrieves the gun . . .
Gwern emerges, retrieves the gun, dropping it in the process,
. . . from its hiding place
then tucks it into his shepherd’s belt and runs back to join the other children.
