3 December 2015

Britt tells the children that she and Siôn are going out
At breakfast, Britt tells Catrin and Chester that they will be having dinner with Dani and Uncle Garry, as she and Siôn are going out for a meal.
"Damien and his mates are coming over"
Chester protests that Damien and a couple of mates are coming over, to work on their history project, but Siôn insists it will have to be another night.
“Why can’t I stay here on my own?” demands Chester.   Siôn replies that the TV will be their only history project.
"Why does he always get his own way?"
“I shall be old enough to get married in two years!   Say something, Mam – why does he always get his own way?” Chester moans, “You’re not even my real father!”
"What is that weird smell?"
Eileen arrives at number 7 with some stew for Colin, and wonders what is the source of the peculiar smell.
"I smell like a dead bird!"
Colin explains, “I put some goose fat on my back to see if it made a difference – but it hasn’t, apart from smelling like a dead bird!”
"Conscience not bothering you?"
“Did you sleep all right?” enquires Eileen, “Conscience not bothering you, by any chance?   Like the fact you hurt yourself in CwmFM and not the shop!”   She accuses him of tricking her and taking her lasagne, and he pleads not to be sacked.
"Go and have a shower!"
She instructs him to go to see the doctor, but first to have a shower to get rid of the smell.
"It's the climbing into the bath . . ."
Colin explains that the shower is over the bath and he cannot step into it;  “I know this is a lot to ask, but you couldn’t . . ?”   Eileen flatly refuses his request, but he continues, “I can’t go round smelling like this!”
"This stays between you and me!"
Eileen’s attitude softens;  “This stays between you and me!” she hisses.
Sheryl discovers the baby monitor
Sheryl is putting washing into the machine when she finds the baby monitor.
"I'm going to live here"
Then Hywel comes in, announcing, “I’m going to live here – why should I be with Dani and Garry?”   Sheryl tells him she has decided to move back to the flat, and nothing he can say will change her mind.
"No baby – no us!"
“You love the idea of us being together with a baby,” she insists, “We wouldn’t be in this situation if I hadn’t fallen pregnant.   I remember you saying you had no intention of leaving Gaynor.   No baby – no us!”
"You were just using me!"
Hywel is becoming angry;  “I’m starting to think you were just using me;  you sent Wil away, then felt guilty and lonely.   What better way to get over it than have a husband, baby and big house?”
"How much I hate myself"
Maybe you’re right,” Sheryl replies, “All I know is that being with you reminds me of how much I hate myself!”
"He just wants us to trust him"
Behind the Deri bar, Britt continues working on Siôn to persuade him that Chester should stay at Y Felin tonight;  “You must remember what your boys were like at that age.   He just wants us to trust him.”
They talk about this bar in Spain
In the shop, Eileen asks Dai and Diane about their plans to retire and run a bar in Spain.   Diane is insistent;  “That’s not retirement – just working in better weather.   We’re holding on to APD, wherever it is.”   Eileen advises that she thought about asking Cadno if they could run APD from Penrhewl.
Diane remarks that they would not get much passing trade up there, but Dai points out, “No-one calls in for a bag of cement as an ‘impulse buy’!” – and regrets that,  “‘Easy-going’ is not Cadno’s middle name!”
"Let's all go out and discuss it"
Eileen proposes taking Cadno for a meal tonight to discuss it;  Dai comments, “There’s no APD without the A and the D!”
"I feel a bit better after the . . ."
Colin hobbles into the shop, saying he feels a bit better after the . . .   Eileen silences him;  “I thought we said we’d never talk about the shower again!”
Hywel is drinking alone . . .
Hywel sits disconsolately in the Deri, then has an idea and approaches Vicky at the bar.
. . . when he thinks of something
“Can I buy you a drink?   And how about a meal later?    I take it you’re still Cwmni Perffaith. (perfect company)”   Vicky replies that she also works for Sheryl.   “Don’t worry about her – it’s all over,” Hywel assures her, “What do you say?   Cash in hand?”
"£100 – in advance"
Vicky tells him that it is £100 up front;  “Right, you’ve got a date!” says Hywel
Hywel is looking forward to this
and looks very pleased with himself.
The history project . . .
When the taxi arrives for Siôn and Britt, Chester and his three mates are sitting round the table.
. . . rapidly turns into something else
As soon as the adults have gone, the four produce bottle and cans of alcohol, plus a DVD one of them has borrowed from his brother’s ‘stash’.
"Let's go in!"
Hywel and Vicky arrive at the Plas Cwm Du restaurant,
Look who is already here
and are surprised to see Dai, Diane, Jim, Eileen and Cadno already there.   Dai comments, “Some one has moved on quickly!”
"Vicky doesn't make her money on a paper round!"
Jim agrees, “I bet that will cost a fortune – we all know that Vicky doesn’t make her money on a paper round!”   Diane informs Cadno that Sheryl has finished with him.
Next to arrive are Siôn and Britt;  Britt asks, “What’s this?   APD’s Christmas party?”
Siôn talks about the rumour
Siôn cannot resist mentioning the rumour of the school closing, which Cadno had not heard about.   Britt drags him away to their table.
"Just one night when you don't say the word 'community'?"
“Can we have just one night when you don’t say the word ‘community’?” she entreats him.
Sheryl sits listening to music . . .
Sheryl sits, alone and dejected, listening to The Lamb, by John Tavener,
. . . when she hears a baby . . .
when she imagines she heard a baby cry.
. . . and looks at the baby monitor
She retrieves the baby monitor from the laundry basket and weeps.
Siôn is waiting for a call
Even at their meal, Siôn is preoccupied, waiting for Megan to get back to him.   Britt’s retort is, “You haven’t got back to me about my hair, new top, or anything else.”
"A lovesick teenager?"
“I came out for a meal with you, although I’ve got a pile of work to do – and you expect me to behave like a lovesick teenager,” snaps Siôn.
"We haven't done it for over a year!"
“No,” she replies, her voice gradually growing in volume, “I expect you to behave like a middle-aged man who still fancies his wife – we haven’t done it for over a year!”
This causes stifled amusement
The five around the adjacent table look at each other and snigger.
Britt adds, no more quietly, “What’s the matter?   Don’t you want to do it any more?”   When Siôn demands why he has to make all the effort, she tells him, “Right – now!   You pay the bill and I’ll get a taxi!”
As they leave, Siôn tells the five that Britt is not feeling too well;
Even Cadno looks happy for once
everyone around the table bursts into laughter.
"I'm not keen on hangovers"
On the other side of the room, Hywel offers Vicky more wine, but she is not keen on hangovers, remembering,
Hywel appears to be anticipating what comes later
“The worst one was on a yacht in Marbella.   If you’re a young girl who looks good in a bikini, someone will always invite you to a party there.”
"They pay me to eat, drink and be good company"
Hywel asks if she is happy to ‘sell herself’ and she insists she sells a service;  “Clients pay you to fix computers – they pay me to eat, drink and be good company in fabulous places.   There are worse ways to make a living!”
They appear to be the worse for wear
At Y Felin, the four drunks are throwing crisps and kicking empty cans;  Chester goes in search of more drink.   He is surprised by Britt and Siôn returning early.
Siôn has turned off the porn DVD, he looks at them and demands, “How much have you had to drink?”
Obviously, Damien cannot hold his drink . . .
Damien starts a slurred apology,
. . . amd throws up . . .
then throws up on Siôn’s shoes.
. . . much to Chester's amusement
Chester laughs heartily, commenting, “Gross!”   Siôn starts phoning the boys’ parents, despite Chester emphasising that they will go ballistic.
"You're grounded for three weeks!"
“I hope they do, and stop them coming here again!” Siôn tells him, “And you’re grounded for three weeks!”
Cadno points out what they needs to consider
Cadno is more receptive to the suggestions than expected.   As, in the background, Hywel and Vicky get up to leave, Cadno points out, “You’ll have to convert one of the outbuildings and have a separate yard, as well as a car park and somewhere for deliveries.
Eileen looks happy with Cadno's agreement
The building work would hinder the day to day running of the farm – and I should want a written agreement of how long the work would take.”
As Vicky is about to go outside, Hywel tells her, “Don’t be in a rush – I’ve booked us a room.   Don’t worry, this will be our secret – how much do you charge?   An extra £200?”
"I don't do this!"
Vicky stresses that she has already told him she does not do this.
“How about £300?   How much then?   You’ve done it before for champagne and a yacht trip”   Vicky tells him she will find her own way home and walks towards the door.
"Don't turn your back on me!"
Hywel roughly grabs her arm, warning, “Don’t turn your back on me!   Don’t be so naïve – what do you think I’m paying you for?   Why do you think any man pays you?
"Girls like you!"
Girls like you in their cheap heels and short skirts – all you want is to use men for their money!”   She manages to pull free and leaves the restaurant.

Chester is up to no good
During the night, Chester creeps silently down the stairs, brandishing a torch;  after checking that the coast is clear,
Is he sabotaging Siôn's computer?
he goes over to Siôn’s computer and begins tapping on the keyboard.
