10 December 2015

"I'm escorting Dewi again!"
Vicky meets Ed and asks him to drive her to town tonight, as she is escorting Dewi again;  this does not go down well with Ed.
Vicky has a fleeting glimpse of her son
Then Mark arrives, pushing the pram, and she asks him to babysit, as, “I’ve got a shift at Y Glyndwr!”   She rushes off without waiting for an answer.
"Slow down – you don't want to delete it!"
Siôn is trying to catch up with his work;  Chester taunts him, “Slow down – you don’t want to delete it!”   Then Siôn has an unwelcome visit from Megan.
"Oh Siôn, have you heard?"
“Oh Siôn, have you heard?” she fusses, “Cwmderi Primary is on a list of schools which could be closed.”   Chester comments that it is a dump.   Megan continues, “I’m going to call an urgent meeting to discuss what we can do.”
"It won't change anything!"
Britt replies, “Discuss all you want – it won’t change anything.   You won’t need me there.”
"Did Sheryl say when she will be coming over?"
At Llwyncelyn, Gaynor asks Hywel, “I’m trying to get organised.   Did Sheryl says when she will be coming over?”   Hywel mumbles about some time next week.
Gaynor will be doing late night shopping
“I shall be doing some late night shopping,” she adds,
Hywel wants to come too
and Hywel offers to come with her, as they both need some company.
In the Deri, Jim jokes about it being a rare occasion – Dai buying a round.
Dai is feeling optimistic
Dai says, “I’ll buy everyone in Cwmderi a pint when I sell that yard!”   Then he receives a call;
But a phone call puts paid to that . . .
“Gwilym – What?   They can’t do that!   Heavens above!”
. . . as Awyr Iach have pulled out
He explains that Awyr Iach have pulled out of the deal, as they have changed their minds.
Jim reminds him, “I told you not to be so greedy!”
Megan fails to get much support
Megan comes in and announces her meeting, but neither Anita or Diane can attend.
"They want to rent the unit!"
Then Diane tells Anita that she has just heard that Awyr Iach want to rent the unit at the Antur.   “We’ve done it!” she says triumphantly,
Dai and Jim do not look too happy
and they look at the downhearted pair over at the table.
"I shouldn't have argued with Vicky"
Ed, at the cash machine, sees Sheryl, who admits she should not have argued with Vicky in front of the customers.
Ed takes Vicky's side
Ed urges her, “Vicky needs support – it’s tough raising a child on your own.   You know that with Wil.   Give her a chance!”
Gaynor asks about emptying Meilyr's room
Further along the street, Sheryl encounters Gaynor;  “I want to say how much I admire you – the thought of emptying Meilyr’s room must be difficult.”   Sheryl replies that she has not agreed to this.   “Has Hywel not discussed it with you?” asks Gaynor.
"He hasn't said anything to me"
“He has not said anything – but you’re right, it has to be done some time,” Sheryl tells her, “By the way, there are some books about raising children I left at the house.”   Gaynor will bring them to the flat.
"Vicky is worried about this Dewi!"
In the salon, Ed tells Dani that Vicky is worried about escorting this Dewi character;  Dani replies that she has not mentioned it.   “It might be a good idea to send someone else,” suggests Ed,
"What's more important?"
“What’s more important?   Clients or the girls’ welfare?”
Dai wants to reinstate the original offer . . .
At home in Bryntirion, Dai phones Gwilym, saying that APD will accept the original offer, but is incensed to hear that they have been offered another place to rent in the village.   Diane remarks that this is a coincidence, but Dai rants,
. . . but hears that someone has "stabbed him in the back" . . .
“Someone has stabbed me in the back!
. . . and he knows who it is
It doesn’t take a Forensic Scientist to work out who – the Proberts!”   He grabs his coat and heads for a showdown.
"He's like an angel – when he's asleep!"
Sheryl has gone to Maes-y-Deri, where Mark tells her that Nicky is like an angel – when he is asleep.   Sheryl gives Vicky her baby books;
"Because I don't know what I'm doing, right?"
“Because I don’t know what I’m doing, right?” snaps Vicky.
As Sheryl is apologising for losing her temper, Vicky is more interested in looking at the message on her phone;
She has just lost a lucrative booking
“Y Glyndwr have cancelled me –
"That boy's loaded!"
I would have made loads of cash – that boy’s loaded!” then explains that she meant a regular customer at the restaurant, who gives amazing tips.
"Unless you're trying to tell me something!"
After their dinner, Eileen is going to this meeting about the school;  Jim protests, “We don’t have any primary-age children – unless you’re trying to tell me something!”
Before she can leave, Dai comes thundering up the stairs, followed by Diane;
"Judas and Mrs Judas!"
“There they are – Judas and Mrs Judas!   Someone offered Awyr Iach a place to rent in Cwmderi – and the Oscar goes to James Probert!   No wonder you took us out for a meal!   I wasn’t born yesterday, and you won’t get the better of me!”
"I'm as angry as you are!"
Jim furiously protests that he is as angry as Dai about this, and advises that they just have to wait and see where this outfit opens.   “That’s where you’ll find the Judas, not here!”
Megan outlines the current situation
At the meeting in Y Felin, Megan, Siôn, Eileen, Beti and Llinos sit around the table;  Megan announces, “They propose closing Cwmderi, Llanarthur  and Cwrtmynach schools and then building a larger one on the site of Ysgol y Mynach – a community school, ages 3 to 18.”
When Britt comes in, she is surprised to find them there, and Megan explains, “I expect Siôn told you the vestry was already booked.”
"Why would he tell me?   I'm only his wife!"
“Why would Siôn tell me?   I’m only his wife,” replies Britt, and says that she might as well join them;  “Maybe I can have a decent conversation for once.”
Sheryl goes on about feeding babies . . .
Sheryl preaches to Vicky about the importance of fresh foods for babies;  “You can freeze them in little trays,” she says.
. . . so Vicky decides to go
Vicky does not want to hear this, and says that she needs to be somewhere – collecting her wages from the hotel, as she needs cash now.
Nicky is having a cry . . .
Mark invites Sheryl to stay for another cup of tea;  while he is putting out the rubbish, Nicky cries,
. . . but Mark puts on his "baby-calming" face
and Sheryl goes to look at him.
"She didn't know what I was talking about"
When Hywel returns to Llwyncelyn, Gaynor quizzes him, “When did you speak to Sheryl?   What exactly did she say?   When I spoke to her, she didn’t know what I was talking about.”
"I didn't want to put pressure on her"
He admits that he did not want to put pressure on her.
"I'm not sure being here is helping"
“I don’t think you’re coping well with losing Meilyr,” Gaynor tells him, “I’m not sure that being here is helping you come to terms with it.”
"Are you throwing me out?"
Hywel asks if she is throwing him out, and she spells it out;  “For your own good, maybe you should find somewhere else to live.”
Hywel loses his temper;  “Right, I’ll go now!   It’s obvious you don’t want me here!” and he rushes upstairs to pack.
"Is this the thanks I get?"
Mark has put the baby to bed, and Sheryl finds that Vicky has put a wet cup on one of the books, leaving a ring on it.   “Is this the thanks I get?   If she doesn’t want my help . . .
She tries to remove the mark
I should never have come here!   Don’t worry, Mark, I won’t impose on you again.”
"Nativity Play on Christmas morning"
The next item on Megan’s agenda is that, “Siôn has suggested that the Nativity Play should be on Christmas morning.”
"You must be joking!"
Britt interrupts, “You must be joking!   Children want presents then, not chapel!”   When Siôn points out it will only be for an hour, and that it is great for the community, she exclaims,
"Stuff the community!"
“Stuff the community!   Let the community take care of itself for once!”
"There's a black cloud over the village"
“There’s a black cloud over the village, and everyone has to pull together,” insists Siôn, but Britt snarls that there is a black cloud over his own home.   Megan thinks it a good idea if they leave it there.
"Just as it starts hotting up!"
“Just as it starts hotting up here!” comments Eileen.   Siôn tells Megan to put in the diary that the Nativity Play will be on 25 December.
"I won't be there – or the children!"
Britt is still in full flow;  “All right, fine!   You go ahead, but I’m telling you now I won’t be there – or the children!”
"I thought we understood each other!"
Hywel is about to leave;  “I thought we understood each other!   This place means everything to me – this was Meilyr’s home!”   He walks out of the front door.
A furious Vicky marches into the Deri and orders a double vodka tonic;
"Why didn't you tell me?"
Dani joins her and Ed.   “If you find it hard working with Dewi, why didn’t you tell me?” demands Dani, “Ed told me you were worried.”
"I'm more than happy with Dewi!"
Vicky of course disputes this, and tells Ed she does not want his help;  “Tell Dewi I’ll be there next time,” she stresses to Dani.
"Stick to driving, Ed!"
Dani warns Ed, “Stick to driving, and leave the girls to me – OK?”
"That snog was just a laugh!"
Ed is further humiliated when Vicky tells him that their “snog” was just a laugh, and that he is only jealous.
"You can take the blame – it was your idea"
Diane reports that Dai now knows someone has offered a unit to rent, and that when he puts two and two together, Anita will have to take the blame, as it was her idea.
"I'd like your support for once!"
Siôn tells Britt that their visitors could not wait to go, and that he would like her support for once.
"It would do us good to attend chapel as a family"
“It would do us good to attend chapel as a family on Christmas morning – Chester more than anyone.   He could ask for forgiveness for telling lies to his father.”
Chester has conveniently just walked in;
"Step-father, actually!"
“Step-father, actually!   I don’t want forgiveness – I’ve not done anything wrong.   Are you worried that the Big Man won’t let me through the Pearly Gates?   You’re pathetic!”
Britt makes no reply whatsoever
Siôn turns to Britt;  Are you going to let him talk to me like that?”   She walks dispassionately away.
"You've got a deadline tomorrow!"
Chester sneers, “You should be working now – you’ve got a deadline tomorrow – tick, tock, tick, tock!”
