Eifion meets Siôn outside the shop; Siôn tells him that Britt is still in coma, and may have brain damage. “They can’t say any more than that. I can’t believe she’s still alive, to be honest! I can’t talk to Chester until the police finish gathering evidence.”

| "I'll call at 4:00pm" |
Then Siôn is approached by DS Davies, who has been talking to Llinos in the alley; she says she will call at Y Felin for a statement at 4 o’clock.
Garry then meets him, and says sternly, “I want you to think about this. Do you think Britt wants you to go to jail, and have the kids taken by Social Services?”

“If you cared,” Siôn replies, “You wouldn’t have asked me to hide a gun in the chapel!”
Angela tells Eifion that she is going to the surgery to get the results of her iron test.

| Angela is planning a party . . . |
“Maybe we could have a party on Saturday to announce the wedding,” she suggests, but he considers people would not be in the mood for celebrating, with what happened to Britt.

He adds that he wants to spend time this weekend with the boys; “This time last week, Siôn’s world was complete – now look at him!”

| "Have you decided what Gwern will say to the pigs?" |
Garry goes to Gwyneth’s business unit and asks, “Have you decided what Gwern will say to the pigs? We have to get our stories straight – we’ll be in trouble otherwise.”

“You’ll be in trouble, you mean!” answers Gwyneth. When Garry argues that he did not think things would turn out like this, she is scathing; “What do you expect – leaving a gun in the chapel?”

Garry counters with, “What did you expect when you set fire to the flat, killing Brandon? Everyone is playing the moral card – you, Siôn, Dani – as if you’ve never done anything wrong. If I could turn the clock back, I would. Dani’s left me – I’m not going to lose Britt too!”
Gwyneth argues that Britt is tough, but Garry continues,

“If Siôn tells the truth, we shall both be going to prison – without Gwern’s evidence, I can deny what Siôn says. I can handle prison if I have to, but I don’t want Gwern to see me going there. I don’t see Siôn handling prison, do you?” He pleads with Gwyneth to do what is best for everyone.

| The doctor increases her iron tablets |
Angela is with Dr Gwyn, who tells her he is increasing her iron tablets to three a day, otherwise she seems to be fine. “Now I can look forward to getting married,” she smiles.

| Jason and Sara look at Yr Antur |
Diane takes Jason and Sara to look at the Antur; after initially welcoming them, Gwyneth is told that they want the whole ground floor, for their outdoor clothing and mountaineering equipment business.

“So you want to throw me out?” she concludes and shouts for Sioned, who emerges from a door marked “Deri Deithio”.

Jason looks at her and says, “Sioned – Denzil’s daughter? The last time I saw you, you were at school!”

After being informed of what is proposed, Sioned is quite adamant; “My business is not doing badly, and I’m not leaving! You have no right to throw us out!”

Some time later, Gwyneth is at Y Felin, where Siôn tells her that Catrin and Aaron are coming home, and Ffion has informed him that Chester is very worried.
“Whatever happens, he’ll need support,” begins Gwyneth,

“I’m going to ask Gwern not to tell the police he saw you with the gun.”

Siôn protests that she cannot ask a five-year-old to lie, but she argues, “I can’t let him send his father and his cousin’s father to jail.

“I know you want to be punished, but it’s not fair if the kids are punished too. I’ve made up my mind – the children and Britt need you more than you need a clear conscience.”

Back home, Gwyneth gives Gwern some final coaching before the police arrive; “What will you say if they ask where you got the gun?” He replies that it was under a seat; “You found it there, and it was nothing to do with Siôn, OK?”

DS Davies arrives, with Luned, a Social Worker;

Gwern appears quite relaxed,

which is more than can be said for his mother.

| "I didn't agree to that!" |
When Angela returns home, Eifion is very put out that at the Deri, Sioned was going on and on about the wedding and the party on Saturday. “I didn’t agree to that! I just feel that you’re rushing things.”

| "Well, we'll have a big party at the wedding" |
Angela replies that they will have a big party at the wedding, so they don’t really need another one.

| "I'm talking about the wedding" |
“No, I’m talking about the wedding itself,” Eifion enlightens her, “As you had the all clear last week, I don’t see the point of spending all this money on a rushed wedding. Why don’t we go on holiday instead? You, me and the kids, to Florida, maybe?”

Angela points out that Cadno would never agree to him taking the boys away, so he suggests, “She could come too.”

Exasperated, Angela summarises, “So last week you wanted to take me to Las Vegas to get married – now you want to cancel it and go on holiday with your ex?” He maintains that he just wants to postpone it,

Siôn is being interviewed at home; “And then he pointed the gun at me, but he was laughing and obviously joking. The next thing, I saw Garry trying to stop Chester, but too late, and the gun went off.”

He is asked what sort of relationship he had with his step-son, and he answers, “Pretty good on the whole – he was going through a rebellious phase, like a lot of boys his age. I’ve got three sons, so his behaviour was not new to me.”

“Have you ever lent the chapel keys to anyone?” enquires DS Davies, and he replies that he has, for weddings, funerals, people arranging flowers and for cleaning, which is done each week. “The gun must have been well hidden, as no-one found it,” remarks the detective.

Her next question flusters Siôn; “Where would you hide a gun in the chapel, Mr White? Not suggesting that you did – but Gwern told me he found it under a seat. It’s hard to believe that no-one else would find it.”

Siôn informs her, “There’s a lot of coming and going at the chapel – I don’t know why anyone would think it a good place to hide something like that.”

“Maybe it was moved from somewhere – all kind of theories are going round in my mind,” confides the DS.
In the Deri, Gwyneth is not pleased to see Diane and Sara com in;

Sara offers her another drink.

“It will take more than a drink to make me leave the Antur!” replies Gwyneth.

Then Sara adds, “We’re looking for someone to join the team.” This changes Gwyneth’s mind and she asks for a pint.

Eifion is lounging in front of a loud television, when Angela comes downstairs in her pyjamas,

and wants to talk to him. “I’m not in the mood to talk about weddings,” he snaps.

“Neither am I,” she says seriously, “There’s no easy way to say this,” and pauses for effect. “When I went to the doctor’s about my iron levels, he said the hospital had been in touch about my scan. They made a mistake,”

and here she adds a couple of sniffs. “I’ve got a brain aneurysm – it might not erupt, but I have to be careful – it’s a risk!”

Eifion is aghast; “There must be something they can do!” he insists, but assures her,

She states, very definitely, “I don’t want to tell them! Promise me you won’t tell them!” he nods his agreement.

Siôn sits in darkness at Y Felin, with a Bach Cantata playing in the background (Possibly BWV1 – “Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern”) when there is a knock on the door.
DS Davies just wants a quick word;

“You haven’t been totally honest, Mr White! When I asked, you said you had a good relationship with Chester. We have made enquiries and heard that he hates you – so much that he moved in with his uncle.”
“But he came back,” explains Siôn.

“This casts a new light on everything,” she continues, “I don’t know where the gun came from, but the more I hear, the more I think that Chester saw his chance to scare you – or to seriously hurt you. We’ll question him again tomorrow; maybe you should contact a lawyer.”

As she walks out of the door she remarks, “It’s always a mistake to lie to the police, Mr White!”

Siôn, in a daze, pours himself a drink, takes a swig and ponders.
