"Gemma has changed for the better"
Mark delivers a parcel to Diane and remarks that Gemma seems to have changed for the better;
"She doesn't need a doctor"
“You were right, she doesn’t need a doctor,” he says.
"Are there any lettuces?"
When he has gone, Gemma asks if Dai grows lettuces, as she wants to make a salad to go with their barbecue.   Diane, welcoming a chance to get out of the house, volunteers to get one in the village.
"Mustn't let Arwen down!"
In the Deri, Ffion invites Gethin to tea with her and Arwen;  “She will be happy – you’ve got an admirer there,” Ffion says.   Gethin replies that he will make an effort to look his best;  “I don’t want to let her down!”
When he has gone, she asks Ows for four bottles of lager,
"Are you sure?"
and he asks, “Are you sure?” so she tells him they are for Gethin.
Ed foolishly gives Eifion another chance
Ed tells Eifion he cannot go and look for the watch as Colin wants the detector back, and he has a taxi job to do.   Eifion offers to stand in for him again, and promises to behave correctly this time;  “I’ll be as courteous as a granny at chapel on Sunday,” he assures Ed, who warns him not to pull another stunt.
Cadno can see no sign of the dog
At Penrhewl, Marian thought she saw a dog near the sheep, but Cadno has not been able to find it.   “We can’t take the risk,” she says, it might come back.   I’ll phone a couple of farms to see if they have had problems.”   Marian regrets that she has upset Cadno.
Gwyneth is amazed at what she hears . . .
Diane goes to Gwyneth’s, where she reveals that Gemma made a full confession, “Dani’s electric shock, bullying you, everything!   I was wrong to take her side, but I wanted someone to fill Emma’s shoes.”
. . . and wants to call the police
Gwyneth is concerned;  “It’s why she confessed that matters.”   Diane tells her Gemma overheard them talking in the Deri, and Gwyneth insists that they call the police;  “Who knows what she’ll do to us.   She probably believes she is sorry, until something else goes wrong.   If I call the police, she might get the help she needs, professional help.”
"Let me handle it"
When Diane says she will persuade Gemma, Gwyneth warns,
"You might be the next to get hurt!"
“Be careful – if she misunderstands you, you might be the next to get hurt!”
"Your aftershave is lovely"
Gethin arrives at Cysgod y Glyn, he remarks, “Something smells nice,” and Ffion thinks it is probably his lovely aftershave.
Arwen is happy with her sweets . . .
He gives Arwen a packet of sweets, to be eaten after their meal, and when Ffion brings him a bottle, he says he will drink it later.
. . . she gets on well with Uncle Geth
“I shall have to concentrate to beat you at snakes and ladders!”
Cadno has a bright idea
Cadno reports that a dog has attacked lambs at Ty Hen;  DJ comments, “I bet Tom is out with his gun - he’s scary enough without one!”
Cadno tells him, “I might not be able to get a gun licence, but there’s nothing stopping you.   If I print the forms, we can post them tomorrow.”   DJ responds, “Whoa, Cadno!”
"Hang on, don't use that barbecue!"
Diane returns home to find Gemma about to light the barbecue, and tells her to stop, as one of the legs is loose.   Gemma has already repaired it and it is as good as new.
"Where's the lettuce, then?"
She asks for the lettuce, but Diane admits she forgot it, saying she was talking to Anita, Colin and Debbie.   Gemma comments, “Some people are unbelievable, aren’t they?”
"Come home quickly!"
As Diane walks away she phones Dai and leaves a message;  “Dai, when you get this message, come home quickly!”
Eifion's customer searches for a £10 note
Eifion gets his fare to her destination and announces the fare is £6.30;  dropping the change on the floor,
She is not impressed with a dirty old man fumbling around her legs
he feels around her legs to try and retrieve it.   She is rather put out, tells him she does not want the change
. . . and escapes without her change
and quickly exits the taxi.
"Catherine is not fit to have a gun"
As DJ puts food into the oven, Marian reveals that she is very worried;  “Catherine is not fit to have a gun,” she says, but DJ reassures her that he has no intention of signing any forms;
“A gun is the last thing we need at Penrhewl.   I’ll find a way of telling her.”
Marian admits, “I couldn’t bear living here if you weren’t around!”
Arwen likes snakes and ladders
Ffion wins the game of snakes and ladders;  Gethin kisses her and she asks him to lay the table.
"We all need time"
She says, “Arwen has lost Jinx – we don’t want to confuse her any more.   We all need time.”
"There's no rush!"
Gethin agrees that there is no rush.
Dai is in the Deri when he gets a text, asking if he received the voicemail.
"She wants me to peel the potatoes"
He tells Gwyneth, “She probably wants me to peel the potatoes or put out the washing!”   When Gwyneth mentions that Gemma is with her, he remarks that it will be company for her,
"How about we clear the air?"
so Gwyneth suggests that they have a meal and “clear the air.”   This has the desired effect and Dai leaves for home, saying, “I’d rather peel potatoes.”
The celery gets a good chopping . . .
At Bryntirion, Gemma is rather vigorously chopping celery with a large knife.   Diane comes in, asking, “Did I hear the phone ring?”
"Oh, that destroys my alibi!"
Gemma angrily enlightens her that it was Anita, phoning from Swansea, where she has been all day.
"Why did you lie to me?"
“Why did you lie to me, Diane?” demands Gemma, wielding the knife, “Who have you been talking to in the village?”   Diane pleads with her to put down the knife, and Gemma wails, “You’re scared of me!”
"You've been talking to Gwyneth!"
Diane admits she would rather Gemma put down that knife, but she continues to wave it, as she says, “You’ve been talking to Gwyneth!   I want you to like me, to love me.
"It's ruined everything!'
“I shouldn’t have told you!   I should have kept quiet, because it’s ruined everything!”
Dai discovers a knife-wielding maniac
As Dai walks into the house, Diane is pleading, “Gemma please, I want to help you, give me the knife,”
Phew – that's a relief!
and eventually she does hand it over, says “Sorry!” and bolts out of the back door.
"The girl's off her head!"
Dai exclaims, “The girl’s off her head – tell me what’s going on!” but Diane insists that they must go and warn Gwyneth that she is on the loose.
"We must find Gemma!"
“We must find Gemma before she hurts somebody!” says Diane as she hurries out of the door.
Cadno has completed the forms
Cadno presents DJ with the forms which she has already filled in, but he tells her, “You know I’m not going to sign them.”   She takes no notice, insisting he will if he wants a job, and that they do not want animals getting hurt.
"We don't want anyone getting hurt!"
DJ replies, “We don’t want anyone getting hurt!”
Cadno stresses that if he will not get a gun, she will have to buy one herself;  “I won’t get caught like Eifion did.   It’s my job to look after the stock, and I’ll do whatever it takes!”
Gwyneth has not seen her . . .
Dai and Diane arrive at Gwyneth’s, and as Dai is about to ring Ed,
. . . then she appears, across the road
they see Gemma across the road.   As they tell her that they want to help her, she walks zombie-like towards them;  there is a squeal of brakes and impatient hooting of a horn as she stands in the road.
"All I wanted was a friend!"
Dai restrains Diane, as Gemma sobs, “All I wanted was a friend – just one friend!”
"Time I was going"
Upstairs in Cysgod y Glyn, Gethin says it is time to go, as Ffion has to put Arwen to bed.   Ffion tells him she does like him, and that he should take the lager home, as it is no good to her.   He thinks the bottles should stay, for the next time he calls.
Ffion looks at the bottles . . .
After he leaves, Ffion opens the fridge, looks at the bottles,
. . . then puts a photo of Arwen on the fridge door
closes it again and puts a photo of Arwen on the door

Gemma is in a terrible state
Gemma, in a daze, looks around her, and above the sound of her heartbeat can hear muffled voices of the bystanders.
"Are you all right, Gemma?"
She sees Mark approaching, and asks him, “Please take me away from here.   Why don’t people like me?   Can I come to Maes y Deri?”
"Now you have to get help"
Mark answers, “Not right now – perhaps when you’re better.   Now you have to get help – if you don’t they might force you.   You don’t want that to happen.”
The constabulary arrive
A police car has arrived, and as Gemma tells Mark she is scared, he reassures her,
"I want you to get better"
“There are people who can help you.   You’re ill, but it’s not your fault.   I want you to get better, and I know that’s what you want, too.
"Now you have a chance to sort yourself out"
The two police officers come forward, and Gemma tells them, “I need help!”   Mark assures her that she has now got a chance to sort herself out.
Gemma is driven away from the village
As many villagers watch, Gemma is led to the police car and driven away.
