23 July 2015

"I'm sure you'll be celebrating tonight!"
As Sheryl walks up to the door of the salon, Gaynor approaches, remarking, “I’m sure you’ll be celebrating tonight!   The divorce papers arrived in the post this morning – didn’t Hywel tell you?”   Sheryl tells her that Hywel left early, before the post arrived.
"I'm on my way to the Deri"
Gaynor is on her way to the Deri, “To mark the occasion – I’m not sure ‘celebrate’ is the right word!”
"When are Iolo and PC Plod moving to London?"
Garry is asking Gethin when Iolo and “PC Plod” are moving to London, when Ffion arrives to talk to Gethin.
"He's got a job to finish!"
Garry reminds her, “He’s got a job to finish,” and then goes into the garage.   Ffion says she thought that Gethin would have called round when he got back, and he senses something is wrong.
"I want you to move in"
She reassures him, “I’ve managed not to drink – I don’t know how, but I can’t do this on my own, Geth.   I want you to move in, and I don’t mean temporarily.”
Gethin is not committing himself
She is disappointed when he replies that he will come and talk to her as soon as he can.
Just what Sheryl wanted to see . . .
Sheryl opens the post and is delighted to see the divorce papers;
. . . and she calls Hywel to come home
she immediately rings Hywel and tells him, “Come home, quick!   I have something to show you – a surprise!”
Gaynor has champagne in the Deri
As Siôn pours Gaynor a glass of champagne, she tells him, “It’s a strange feeling – everything’s changed.”   Britt suggests that she should have a holiday, somewhere sunny, but Gaynor is afraid she would get on her own nerves.
"I shall be the lonely divorcée"
“I shall be the lonely divorcée, drinking gin in the corner,” she says, but assures them she will be all right.
"You've no-one to blame but yourself!"
Siôn remarks to Britt that it is a depressing time, with everything falling apart, but gets no sympathy;  “If you’re talking about Iolo, you’ve no-one to blame but yourself!”
Iolo is searching for flats
Iolo is enthusiastically looking on the laptop at flats in London;  Hampstead – no, too expensive!   And look at the prices in Shoreditch!   How about Peckham?”
"We're not going!"
Wiliam interrupts him with, “There’s no point in looking – we’re not going.   I’ve changed my mind.”   As Iolo demands what he is talking about,
Gethin announces he is going to live with Ffion
Gethin comes in and announces that Colin will soon be living there alone, as he is moving in with Ffion.
Then the argument resumes;  “How can you change your mind?” demands Iolo, and Wiliam tells him that he has turned down the job.   “Because of Dad?   I knew he’d find a way of spoiling things again!” says Iolo.
"It's Jim's birthday!"
Jim and Eileen, Dai and Diane come into the Deri, and Jim buys the first round, as Eileen won the Garden Vegetables competition.   She points out that it is also Jim’s birthday;  “He’s my toyboy,” she tells them.
Siôn flatters her that she does not look a day older than Jim,
"Stop talking rubbish and pour a pint!"
but Dai impatiently comments, “Stop talking rubbish and pour a beer, Siôn!”   Diane warns him to behave, or he will be on lemonade.
"I'm waiting for a friend"
Colin approaches Gaynor and says, “It looks as if you’ve had good news,” so she tells him about the divorce, and that she is waiting for a friend.   He assures her that he is only a phone call away if she needs company,
Unfortunately, the friend cannot come
then she has a text to advise that her friend Heulwen will not be coming.
"I don't regret being with you"
Hywel looks at the divorce papers;  “I did a lot of things I’m not proud of with Gaynor, but I don’t regret being with you,” he tells Sheryl.   She suggests they should go out to celebrate, and insists that the Deri is the ideal place, as she is rather tired.
"Are you sure the Deri is special enough?"
“Are you sure the Deri is special enough?” he asks.
"It's too much of a risk!"
Wiliam tells Iolo, “I understand that you’re angry, but it’s too much of a risk;  I hadn’t considered the effect it might have on your health.”
"He's determined to destroy our relationship"
Iolo snaps, “Until Dad mentioned it!   He’s determined to destroy our relationship!”   Wiliam says he is lucky to have a father who cares so much about him, and considers he is really worried about Iolo this time.   “Well, he’s a good actor!” answers Iolo.
"You want to punish your father"
“If you’re really honest, the reason you’re so ready to go is to punish your father,” Wiliam continues, “I wanted to ignore it because I wanted us so much;  now I realise it would be stupid to risk what we’ve got.   We’ll stay here.”
Iolo replies, “You’ll regret it – and then blame me,”
"As long as I'm with you"
but Wiliam is adamant that it does not matter where he is, as long as he is with Iolo.
"Gethin's in and out of work like a yo-yo"
At the Deri, Garry moans to Britt about Gethin;  “He’s in and out of work like a yo-yo because of Ffion.”   Then Hywel and Sheryl come in;
"Sure you don't want to go somewhere else?"
Hywel asks if she wants to go somewhere else, as Gaynor is there, but Sheryl carefully organised this scenario.
Colin is concerned
Colin is anxious about Gaynor sitting alone.
The next stage in Sheryl's plan
With a smirk, Sheryl retrieves a small box, containing the engagement ring, from her bag.
Ffion is very glad to see Gethin . . .
Ffion is about to phone Gethin when he arrives;  she is very glad to see him, but he appears to be somewhat reticent.   “What is this?   I thought this is what you wanted,” she says.
. . . but he thinks they may be doing this for the wrong reasons
Gethin explains that they may be doing this for the wrong reasons.  “I need to be sure that you don’t want me here just because you want someone to look after you,” he tells her.
"Maybe I shouldn't have asked"
“Are you saying I’m using you?   Maybe I shouldn’t have asked – just forget about it!” she replies, but does not get the response she was expecting.   “You may be right – we don’t want to rush things,” he says, hands back the flat keys and turns to leave.
She cannot bear for him to go
She rushes forward and grabs his arm;
"That's what I want, more than anything!"
“No, Geth, I want you here, not as someone to look after me, I want more than that!   Please move in with me!   That’s what I want, more than anything!”
Ffion clings to Gethin
They embrace.
Siôn is surprised by what Wiliam tells him
In the Deri, Siôn asks Wiliam when they will be moving, and is pleasantly surprised by the answer.   “We’re not going to London, I turned it down.   I hadn’t properly thought through how it could affect Iolo – but I didn’t do it for you!”
"This is not the time or the place"
Sheryl presents Hywel with the box;  “Now you’re more or less a single man, you can offer me this again.”   Hywel thinks this is neither the time or place, but Sheryl is determined to stage-manage this opportunity.
Sheryl makes a great spectacle of this
“Oh, Hywel, is this for me?” she exclaims, unnecessarily loudly, and he hesitantly slips the ring on to her finger.   As the other customers admire the ring,
"Take no notice!"
Gaynor is, as intended, rather embarrassed, while Colin urges her not to take any notice.
Sheryl ostentatiously takes a selfie of herself and Hywel,
Sheryl gets her own back on Gaynor
and within a few seconds it has been sent to Gaynor’s phone.
"I enjoy your company"
On the sofa, Ffion admits she can understand why Gethin was worried;  “Maybe I do need you, but I enjoy your company, and would want you here anyway.   I can’t imagine life without you!”
"I'd better go and fetch my stuff"
Gethin suggests he should go and fetch his stuff, so he can move in while Ffion puts Arwen to bed.   She, however, has other ideas;
Ffion has carefully pre-planned this evening . . .
“There’s no rush – I’ve asked Elinor to have Arwen overnight, so you don’t have to go anywhere, do you?”
. . . and appears to be getting exactly what she wants
There follow several, increasingly passionate, kisses.
"You have no right to interfere!"
Iolo marches into the Deri and addresses his father;  “Just because I’m staying here doesn’t give you the right to interfere!”   Britt tells Siôn that she hopes he will listen this time.
"Look what I've got!"
As Gaynor sits, still alone, Sheryl comes across to show her the ring;  “Look what I’ve got!   I thought you’d like to see it in reality too.   Hywel is definitely in my good books now.   The point is that I don’t forgive you – the baby and I could have died!
"I'm going to make sure Hywel fights you!"
I’m going to make sure that Hywel fights you for everything you’ve got!”
Gaynor looks very concerned as Hywel and Sheryl leave, then she remarks to Siôn,
"It's only just begun"
“I thought it was all over, but it’s only just begun!” and walks out of the Deri.
"You knew Gaynor would be there"
When he gets home, Hywel tells Sheryl, “You knew Gaynor would be there, didn’t you?   It made things very difficult for me!”
"I decided when and where"
Sheryl answers, “You wanted to give me the ring – I decided when and where.”
"You want to keep it this time?"
Hywel is irritated;  “Oh, you want to keep it this time?   Do you want to marry me, or is it just revenge?”   Sheryl’s response is to remove the ring and to invite him to put it on her finger again,
He puts the ring on her finger again
“Just the two of us – we’re going to be happy, you and me!”   She looks decided triumphant, but Hywel appears rather doubtful.
Gaynor, on the other hand, is far from happy
Gaynor, meanwhile, walks down the alley in tears, stopping to lean against the wall.
