Ffion is not walking quite right

Sheryl is walking slowly towards the salon with Dani when Ffion approaches, obviously the worse for drink;  “Hi, Sher, nice to see you back in the land of the living!” she slurs, “Everyone knows Hywel is a womaniser!”

She staggers off . . .

She tells them she has to teach year 7, and staggers away.   

. . . causing Sheryl some concern

Sheryl is concerned;  “When did she start drinking again?   I can tell when someone has had a drink or three.”

Hey, Eifion!"

Sioned chases after Eifion, shouting, “You can’t avoid me for ever,” and follows him into the door of Angela’s house.   

"We're going to have a chat"

“We’re going to have a chat, and to save time I’ll do the talking.   

"You were all over her, like a rash!"

“We’ll forget driving a taxi without a licence – that girl was so young, and you were all over her, like a rash!”

"I was only picking up the change"

Eifion insists he was only picking up the change, but Sioned continues, “You do have a history – you followed me and took pictures of me!”   Eifion begs her not to mention it to anyone else, but she warns him if he does it again, she will tell Angela.

Sheryl appears to be missing Hywel

As Sheryl cuddles Hywel’s jumper, she tells Dani, “Part of me can’t forgive him, and another misses him.”   

"Can you trust him again?"

Dani asks if she can trust him again, and admits the surveillance did not go to plan, when her phone rang.   “They were only talking, I couldn’t hear what about, and when she found you’d sent me, she went nuts!”

"Maybe I'll know when I see him"

Sheryl does not know if she can forgive him;  “Maybe I’ll know when I see him.”

Hywel is in the Deri

Meanwhile Hywel is in the Deri, where he tells Ed that Sheryl is improving slowly;  then Mark appears with some flowers for Ed to take to Gemma.   

"You'll have to take them yourself"

“You’ll have to take them yourself – they will have wilted by the time I take them,” is Ed’s abrupt comment, so Mark sadly leaves.

Dani tells Gethin that Ffion is drunk

Outside the garage, Dani tells Gethin of Ffion’s inebriated state, and when Gethin speaks of her being “tipsy”, Dani points out that to an alcoholic, there is no difference.   

"This is not going to be easy!"

“Good luck with helping her – this is not going to be easy!” she says.

Mark tells Gwyneth his plan . . .

Mark goes to Gwyneth’s and tells her that Ed will not go to see Gemma,  that someone should go, and he would like some company.   

. . . but she wants nothing to do with it

Gwyneth replies, “I can’t help you, it wouldn’t do her or me any good.   She did awful things to me and other people!”   

Gethin learns that Arwen is ill

As Gethin comes out of the shop he has a phone call from Elinor, reporting that Arwen is ill, and she cannot contact Ffion.   Gethin improvises, saying the Ffion had a dental appointment, and that he will collect Arwen.

Angela makes an appointment on her iPad

In the café, Angela with her iPad makes an appointment to see someone’s mother tomorrow, and tells Sioned, 

"I keep telling Eifion he needs a job"

“It keeps the wolf from the door.   I tell Eifion he needs to get a job, and he always says he’s looking.”   When she asks Sioned if there are any taxi drivers’ jobs, she receives a definite negative response, however, Sioned thinks that she can find something for him.

Hywel comes in and orders a coffee from Gwen;  

"Sheryl – out of hospital?"

when Dani comments, “I’m not following you, now that Sheryl is back,”  

"Hywel, how about your coffee?"

he leaves again in a hurry, and Dani agrees to have the coffee.

Sheryl is pondering

Sheryl is standing at the window, stroking her bump and thinking, when Hywel comes in, fussing over her and telling her he would have collected her from the hospital.   

"Everything's over between us!"

“I thought I made myself clear – everything’s over between us!” states Sheryl.

"It's you I want!"

“I was hoping you still felt something for me – it’s you I want!” he wheedles, “Why else would you send Dani to spy on me?” but she emphasises that it is the baby he wants.

"You had the baby because you wanted me"

“But you had the baby because you wanted me,” is his reply, “I know there’s still hope for us.   I promise never to do anything like this again.   I only want you and the baby – give me another chance!”   

Hywel feels the baby kicking

She invites him to feel the baby moving;  he does so, and both of them smile broadly.

"I can't find Ffion"

Gethin tells Dani that Ffion is not at school or at a meeting, and that he had to pretend she was at the dentist.   

"Oh, you want me to babysit!"

In order to go and look for her, he needs Dani to babysit Arwen.   

Dani is more receptive to Mark's idea

After he has dashed off, Mark passes and tells Dani he is trying to get some chocolates and flowers for Gemma, to show she is not alone.   Dani gives him some money for some chocolates;  “No-one deserves to be alone,” she remarks.

Sheryl checks through Hywel's texts

Hywel has left his phone on the sofa, and Sheryl looks though his list of texts, carefully hiding it when he returns from putting on the washing machine.   

"Will you make all this fuss when the baby comes?"

She asks if he will make all this fuss when the baby comes, to which he replies, “You won’t be lifting a finger – if you still want me around.”

“I would be a fool to kick out such a good servant,” she says, and he vows never to let her down again.   

They sit down to watch a film together

As she settles down to watch a film, he puts his arm around her, and she smiles.

"Have you seen Ffion today?"

Gethin enquires in the Deri whether Britt has seen Ffion, but draws a blank there.

"That job?   You are joking!"

Sioned finds a job advertisement in the Western Post which she shows to Angela;  “You are joking?   He’d never go for that,” answers Angela, 

"We could fill in the application for him!"

but Sioned suggests they could fill in the form for him.   “You’re so naughty!” says Angela.

Gethin does not know where else to look . . .

Gethin sits disconsolately on the steps of Bethania, then walks towards Cysgod y Glyn, 

. . . but on the way to Cysgod y Glyn, he sees . . .

when he notices Ffion’s car at an angle in the alley, with the driver’s door open.   He dashes towards it, shouting, “Oh, no!”

. . . an empty vodka bottle

The engine is running, and Ffion is slumped over the wheel;  he discovers an empty vodka bottle, and phones Dani, 

An emergency call to Dani (but what about Arwen?)

“Dan, I need help, in the alley behind the shop – come quickly!”

"It's my hormones!"

At the end of the film, Sheryl is crying, and blames her hormones;  “Or is it because they lived happily ever after?” enquires Hywel.   Then he has a text, and extracts his phone from under the cushion.   

Sheryl has something to say

He wants to go, as the CwmFM CD machine is playing up again, but Sheryl stops him.

She wants to keep tabs on randy Hywel

“Hang on, if you want to stay here,” she says ominously.   “I want some new ground rules, new conditions.   I want to know where you are every hour of the day and night.   It’s not about my health – you’re not leaving here until we synch phone calendars, so I know where you’re supposed to be, when and with whom.”

As she hands him her phone, he predictably protests, “Don’t you trust me?” but she considers it is reasonable, “Under the circumstances.”

They drag their heavy burden

Dani rushes to the car, and together with Gethin drags the semiconscious Ffion from the driving seat.   Gethin sends Dani to see if the coast is clear, and they support Ffion, who mumbles incoherently.   “I can’t believe we’re doing this,” says Dani.

"Well, I did try!" says Mark

Mark takes a box filled with gifts for Gemma and puts it on the bar in the Deri, reporting to Britt that Gemma did not want to see him, “But at least I tried.”

"Gemma has to do this for herself"

Ed takes this as a dig at him, and maintains, “Gemma has to do this for herself – we can’t do it for her,” and walks out.   Britt gives Mark a pint “on the house”.

They have got her to the top of the stairs . . .

Dani and Gethin are exhausted after they have hauled the deadweight of Ffion upstairs to the flat.   

. . . and on to the sofa

They lower her on to the sofa, where she again mumbles and they cover her with a blanket to sleep it off.

"You're up to your eyeballs in it now!"

Dani stresses to Gethin, “You’re up to your eyeballs in it now!   Do you want me to bring you some clothes?”   Gethin wonders if he should stay the night, but Dani enlightens him;  

"Do you realise how serious this is?"

“You’ll have to stay longer than that!   Do you realise how serious this is?   You’ll have to look after Arwen as well now - they have no-one else.

"Things could be much worse when she wakes up!"

“Did you honestly think that going out with Ffion would be easy?   This is just the start – things could be much worse when she wakes up!   So Man Up!”
