21 July 2015

"Oh, Arwen, look at you!"
As Ffion packs a lunchbox, she notices that Arwen is in rather a mess;  “Oh Arwen, look at you!   You’ve got suncream all over you - we shall have to find some clean clothes.”
Arwen hands it over
Arwen obligingly hands back the offending sun cream, and Ffion reassures her, “Never mind – you’re a good girl for thinking of sun cream in the first place.”
"Feeling sorry for yourself won't help!"
As Siôn sits, thinking, Britt reports that the children are all off on the bus and will not be back until five.   “Sitting there, feeling sorry for yourself, won’t help.   Why did you have to stick your nose in again?”   Siôn replies that he was protecting Iolo, but Britt insists, “You must accept that it’s his life – phone to apologise!”
Britt finds his phone . . .
She goes through his jacket to find his phone, dials the number and hands it to him, ordering,
. . . dials the number, and hands it to him
“You’re going to invite them over for lunch,” but Siôn is confident they will not come.
"It's Dad – I'm not answering that!"
At number 7, Iolo sees who is calling and ignores it;  Wiliam, however, does answer,
"Oh – hello Wiliam"
much to Siôn’s surprise.   “I wanted to apologise for yesterday and invite you over to lunch,” says Siôn.
“I’ll see if Iolo’s free,” replies Wiliam, and despite Iolo being totally against the idea,
"Yes, we'll come!"
Wiliam, replies, “Yes, that’s great – thank you!”
Siôn looks at the phone in amazement, and Britt comments, “Ye of little faith!”
Iolo objects most strongly, but Wiliam argues, “I’m not your father’s biggest fan, but I know how much your family means to you.   You can’t leave for London on bad terms.   He’s obviously sorry, or he wouldn’t have invited us.”   Iolo still flatly refuses to go.
Angela spruces up Eifion . . .
As Angela does up Eifion’s tie, insisting he must be smartly dressed for his interview, he moans that he does not want the job;
. . . then tells him a thing or two
“If you don’t get it, I shall e-mail and ask them why!” she tells him.
"Can you look after Bobi for me?"
Then Cadno arrives with Bobi;  she wants Eifion to have him, as things are so busy on the farm, and Marian cannot cope with both of them.
Eifion is not very accommodating . . .
Eifion complains that he was not allowed to see them for a fortnight, and now she is dumping Bobi on him without notice;
. . . but Bobi appears pleased to see his dad
Angela agrees to look after Bobi while Eifion is out.   He refuses to tell Cadno what job he is applying for;  “It’s unlucky to say too much before the interview.”
Arwen wants out of the swing
Arwen is on the swing in the park, and wants to get off as Siôn approaches;  he tells Ffion, who is looking rather flustered,
Siôn reminisces about his sons
“Every age is a difficult one – I can remember the boys at that age.   You can only love them, no matter how hard it is at times.”
"Iolo and Wiliam are coming to lunch"
When he tells her that Iolo and Wiliam are coming to lunch, she is pleased to hear that they are back together.
"Mami would be lost without you"
Siôn tells Arwen, “Mami would be lost without you,”
Arwen has another go on the swing
then he puts Arwen back on the swing and pushes her.
"Do you really want to make amends?"
Sioned is startled to see Cadno waiting in the flat for her;  “Do you really want to make amends for stealing the quad?” she asks.   When Sioned confirms that she does, Cadno demands, “I want the money!”
"I only made £1,000!"
Sioned says that she only made £1,000 out of the theft, but Cadno is not interested;  “I want all £6,000 of it – and I want £200 right now!   Off you go to the cashpoint, like a good little girl!”
Cadno waits for her money to arrive
She settles down to await Sioned’s return.
"Why does everyone think they can tell me what to do?"
Wiliam is washing-up as Iolo castigates him for accepting the invitation on his behalf;  “Why does everyone think they can tell me what to do?”
"I'm not going to force you"
“Do you really think I want to go to lunch with someone who’s tried to sabotage our relationship?” asks Wiliam, “Everything I do is because I love you, but I’m not going to force you to do anything.   If you don’t come, I’ll go without you!”
Iolo demands, “Were you always this bossy?” to which Wiliam replies, “Yes!   Now go and get changed,” and Iolo complies.
Back from the park
Angela sees Ffion and Arwen returning from the park and invites them in;  Ffion says that Arwen loves playing with Bobi and Arthur, so they go inside.
Sioned returns with the money for Cadno;
Ed returns to find Cadno counting money
as she makes a great show of checking that it is all there, Ed comes in and Sioned reveals she has confessed about the theft.   Cadno leaves, making it clear, “This is just to tide me over – she’s not getting away with it that easily!”
Try and enjoy it""
Britt urges Siôn to try and enjoy it;  “You’re a good father most of the time,” she says.
Flowers and a bottle
Iolo and Wiliam arrive at Y Felin with flowers for Britt and a bottle of Rioja, which Siôn describes as a very good choice.
Siôn begins by apologising
Siôn starts off well, apologising for his behaviour, which he attributes to misunderstanding the situation.   Wiliam is very conciliatory;  “Why don’t we just forget it?   We’re back together, and that’s all that matters.”
Iolo is not convinced
Iolo still appears to think that coming was a mistake.
Ffion gets two mugs . . .
Ffion is in Angela’s kitchen, where she is making tea;  after getting down two mugs, she opens the fridge and sees a bottle of wine.
. . . then finds wine in the fridge
She takes out the bottle and looks longingly at it.   At that point Angela rushes in with the news that Arwen has been sick, and Ffion goes to the rescue.
"What if Garry finds out?"
Ed is worried;  “What if she goes to the police?   What if Garry finds out?”  Sioned insists she did not mention Garry, and only confessed to try and stop Cadno’s nonsense on the farm;
"Everyone is suffering!"

“Everyone is suffering,” she says.
"It's a shame you didn't think of that before"
“It’s a shame you didn’t think of that before stealing the quad,” snaps Ed, “ I don’t know what to believe – I’m going out!”
Siôn produces Osi, the fluffy donkey
Siôn reminisces about when the boys were young, and produces a fluffy donkey from Spain, which was Iolo’s favourite toy, called Osi, as Iolo could not pronounce José.   Siôn tells Wiliam that he needed plenty of patience with three boys, especially after his wife, Gwen, died.
Iolo is now much more relaxed
Iolo appears to be relaxing now.
Ffion has sorted out Arwen
After Ffion has cleaned Arwen up, they go home, and Eifion returns, giving Angela the news,
Eifion is not pleased that he has the job
“The interview went very well, unfortunately.”
"Congratulations!"
As Angela congratulates him on getting the job, he grumbles, “Deepest condolences, you mean!”
All is going cordially . . .
The meal is progressing successfully when Siôn starts pontificating again;
. . . then Siôn starts again
“You won’t get meals like this in London.   I’ve heard that rents are so high that strangers have to share rooms.   Have you considered the problems of moving there?   Iolo has to be careful with his condition – it’s easy to keep it in check here, but would be far more difficult in London.”
"Macs and Huw went – why can't I?"
He urges Iolo not to leave, but Iolo insists, “If I don’t go now, I will never leave Cwmderi!   Macs and Huw went – why shouldn’t I?”
Then he thinks Wiliam is taking Siôn's side
Wiliam tries to defuse the situation, but Iolo accuses him of being on Siôn’s side.   “I’m not in the mood to be civil or listen to you,” he tells his father,
"I'm leaving!"
“I’m leaving – sorry, Britt.”   Wiliam goes after him.
"Well, that was a success!"
As Siôn comments, “Well, that was a success!” Britt demands why he must continually provoke Iolo.
"You couldn't help yourself!"
“Everything was going well, but you couldn’t help yourself!” she shouts,
Siôn does not want to waste any lunch
but Siôn nonchalently continues eating.
Ffion puts Arwen’s clothes in the washing machine and starts it,
Ffion puts on some music . . .
then puts on some music.
. . .  and has an unsatifyingly brief talk to Gethin
Gethin phones, but she has very little time to tell him about her day before he has to go.   Then Arwen starts to cry, and, in  a stressed voice Ffion shouts to her,
She shouts irritably at Arwen . . .
“Will you be quiet, please?” but the crying continues.

As the music and crying reach a crescendo,
. . . searches the cupboards . . .
Ffion frantically looks into the cupboards;  unable to find anything resembling alcohol,
. . . but is alone and has no support
she bangs her head on the cupboard door in desperation.
