Anita is feeling frustrated at Jinx and Kelly sitting watching television all day;

| The correct parcel arrives |
when Mark calls with the expected parcel from Canada, a box of chocolates, he asks how long Jinx is staying.

| "I shall kill the pair of them!" |
Anita replies, “I don’t know, but if it goes on much longer, I will have killed the pair of them!” Mark invites her over to his house any time.

| Dai tells Colin it is on the website in black and white |
Dai is on the phone, confirming to Colin that there will be an election in two weeks – it is on the council website in black and white. Colin appears to be unsure of his chances; “She’s got more chance of winning the Eisteddfod chair!” asserts Dai.

| "Oh, it's only a work phone call!" |
He tells Diane that his call was work–related, which will not interest her as she is retired. She warns him not to expect her to cook dinner tonight, as she is going shopping with Debbie, to find smart clothes, suitable for a councillor.

| "OK, come up," says Sheryl |
Sheryl’s entryphone buzzes, and she lets in someone with a parcel for Hywel;

| The man presents Hywel with an envelope |
a man in a suit and tie asks, “Hywel Llywelyn?” presents him with an envelope and then leaves.

| "How could she be so underhand?" |
On opening it, Hywel realises he has been served the divorce papers by a bailiff. “How could she be so underhand?” he demands, to which Sheryl replies,

| "She must be getting fed up with waiting" |
“She must be getting fed up with waiting – you have to sign them.”
![]() |
| "I'm not signing them!" |
Hywel is adamant; “I’m not signing them, bailiff or not! She has gone too far this time – these papers are going in the bin!”

| Ffion clears out Jinx's things |
Ffion is busy, packing Jinx’s belongings into black sacks;

| She finds a shopping list |
she sees a note he has written, to buy “Milk, onions, food for Arwen”, then picks up the sacks and leaves the flat with them.

| "Where exactly does this leave us?" |
Sheryl asks Hywel, “Where exactly does this leave us?” but he still insists that a piece of paper makes no difference. “Are you still in love with her? Is that what it is? What other reason is there for not signing?” Sheryl demands.

| "Gaynor is trying to control me!" |
Hywel is becoming irritated; “Gaynor is trying to control my life – now you are too. Don’t push me – this is a matter of principle.” He refuses to eat the rest of his breakfast.
As Kelly gives Jinx a cup of tea,

| "Collect the rest of your stuff, or it goes in the bin!" |
Ffion arrives and dumps the two black sacks, warning him to collect the rest of his stuff or it will go in the bin. “You have no right to live there after you took Arwen, but don’t worry, that won’t happen again!” she says.

| Kelly assures Jinx that she will help him |
After she has gone, Jinx turns to Kelly; “She thinks she’s won! I have to work on my case now, I can’t sit back and let her take Arwen.” Kelly reassures him that she will help, and that they can do this together.
In the café, Debbie tells Diane that wearing a suit will make her look old, and in any case she has no opponent.

| "I'm a candidate!" |
Colin, standing nearby, comments, “It’s a bit early to be planning your wardrobe – we don’t know who’ll win! I’m a candidate – Dai was very helpful.”

| Dai is dragged in by Diane |
This infuriates Diane, who sees Dai passing outside and drags him in; in the face of all her anger, he explains,

| "They call it democracy!" |
“They call it democracy!” and Colin adds, “You women want a level playing field – here it is.” Debbie and Colin inform each other that they are looking forward to the contest.

| "Have you reconsidered your job?" |
Hywel asks Jinx if he has reconsidered his job,
![]() |
| He reveals a similar thing happened to him |
and is sympathetic as a similar situation happened after Lleucu was taken away from him, and he thought his world had ended.

| "I can't imagine life without Arwen!" |
Jinx is insistent; “I can’t imagine life without Arwen – I’ll do anything to get her back! I’ve got all the evidence against Ffion – she’ll be in pieces.”

| "You could make things worse" |
Hywel wonders whether this is the best way, or if it could make things worse.
Jinx tells him, “It’s all right for you – you have a child on the way and a future with Sheryl. Do you know how lucky you are? All I want is what you’ve got.”

| "You think you've won, don't you?" |
Jinx goes back to Ffion’s; “Think you’ve got rid of me? You think you’ve won, don’t you? But you haven’t! There you go, it’s all in there,”

| He puts down the green file |
he says, throwing down a file on the table. “All the lies, the drinking, all the reasons you’re not fit to be a mother to Arwen.”

| Ffion reacts furiously |
Ffion replies, “Do you think a court will give Arwen to you after what you’ve done?” but he argues he was only protecting the child from an alcoholic mother.

| Kelly provides support for Jinx |
Seeing Kelly standing with him, Ffion stresses, “You know I’ve not had a drink for two years! You’ve both wanted this for years, but you’re too much of a coward to do anything.

| "Do everyone a favour and run away together!" |
“Why not do everyone a favour, and run away together? You’re obviously desperate to, so now’s your chance.”
Jinx emphasises that he is not going anywhere, and this is just the start; “I hope you’re ready!”

| Anita complains about her lodgers |
Anita has escaped to Mark’s; “Every time Jinx gets off the sofa, Kelly entices him back again,” she says,

| "They're just like they were in the old days" |
“They’re just like they were in the old days. It’s not wise to rekindle old flames – I should know better than anyone.”

| Diane is railing against men in general . . . |
Diane is having her hair done at the salon; she tells Sheryl that men cannot be trusted.

| . . . when Sheryl looks across the road . . . |
Sheryl sees Hywel across the road and mentions that she feels rather light-headed;

| . . . suddenly feels faint . . . |
just as Hywel approaches, she pretends to faint

| . . . and collapses in a heap |
and collapses to the floor.
He rushes in, insisting that an ambulance be summoned,

| "No, Hywel, I'm all right" |
but Sheryl tells him that she is all right.
![]() |
| "It's the stress caused by the divorce!" |
Diane warns him that this is a result of the stress caused by this divorce. Hywel is full of apologies.

| Ricky arrives back from school |
When Ricky comes home and finds his father and Anita watching a film, Mark suggests that Anita could cook them some dinner;

| "We're no good at healthy cooking!" |
“We’re no good at healthy cooking – we have fish and chips.”

| Jinx is doubtful of his case . . . |
Kelly tells Jinx she was so proud of him for standing up to Ffion, but he is doubtful of his case against her. She suggests that having a partner might increase his chance of success;

| . . . but Kelly suggests a way to improve his chances |
“You could say we’re an item – you’d get brownie points with the court.”

| "Of course, I'll do anything for you" |
Jinx is amazed that she should offer to do that, but she confirms that she will, and then he blurts out,

| "Marry me!" |
“Marry me! We’re great together – always have been – marry me! I wouldn’t have said it if I didn’t mean it!”

| That is just what Kelly wanted to hear |
Kelly replies, “Yeah, OK, I’ll marry you,” and they kiss.

| Colin is getting into this campaigning business . . . |
Colin has been doing some research, and says he needs to plan his campaigning and speeches; “There’s no point doing half a job,” he tells Dai.

| . . . then gets into a slanging match with the other candidate |
When Diane and Debbie come in, more arguing between the candidates takes place.

| "It was just the shock of the bailiff" |
Hywel still wants to call the doctor, but Sheryl dissuades him; “I’m fine – it was just the shock of the bailiff turning up.”

| "I have signed the papers" |
Hywel assures her that he has signed the papers, and says that he was on his way to tell her he had done so when she fainted.

| She looks as if she is pleased with the outcome |
“I was going to do it sooner or later. You should trust me to do the right thing in the end.”

| "Right, when are we going to do it?" |
Kelly is rather insistent; “Right, when are we going to do it? There’s no point in waiting. Where, here or Swansea? Chapel or church?”
Jinx is thinking more in terms of register office; “You’re not religious, are you?” he asks.

| "We're getting married, Auntie Anita!" |
When Anita returns, she is shocked to hear the news that they are getting married; “I’m so happy, Auntie Anita!” Kelly tells her,

| Anita is definitely not happy |
but Anita has serious doubts.
