"People are doing everything online"
As Mark delivers to Gethin, he complains that the post is getting less with everyone doing things online, and adds,
"Have you heard the news?"
“Have you heard the news?   Kelly and Jinx are engaged.   Now’s your chance!”   Gethin’s response is that they are just friends, but he does look somewhat encouraged.
Gwyneth does not want pancakes for breakfast
Gwyneth comes home to find that Gemma has made pancakes for breakfast and has put the washing out, while Gwyneth was taking Gwern to school.
"Do you prefer lemon or syrup?"
Gemma encourages her;  “Sit down, it’s all ready;  do you prefer lemon or syrup?”   Gwyneth looks suspicious.
Ffion looks in the file . . .
Ffion, wearing her dressing gown, looks inside the green file which Jinx left;
. . . which lists her shortcomings . . .
she reads, “Alcoholic mother, no self-control, unfaithful, left Arwen in the car.”
. . . and is downcast
She looks disheartened.
Diane cannot stand loud music in her fragile state
Dai is cooking himself a generous breakfast, accompanied by loud music;  Diane, looking rather fragile after last night, turns it off.
Dai enjoys his breakfast . . .
“You were happy to have it on full blast last night!” he comments, “Did you work out your strategy – you and Hillary Clinton?”
Diane grumbles, “Stick to working with Colin.   I don’t interfere with you and Gwyneth – in your leathers!”
“At least we were sober,” retorts Dai, “You’re lucky no-one saw you, that’s all!” and he smiles wryly.
. . . but the sight of him sends her back to bed
The sight of Dai tucking into a large chunk of fried sausage drives Diane back to bed.
"Have you seen CnocCnoc?"
Then he phones Colin;  “Have you seen CnocCnoc this morning?”
Kelly is looking for a dress
Anita is disgusted to see Kelly looking at wedding dresses online and comments that they are rushing into things;
Anita is of the opinion that things are happening too quickly
“You and Daf have only just divorced.”
"You don't get it, do you?"
Kelly replies, “You don’t get it, do you?   Jinx and I have known each other for years, and we love each other – it’s the best thing that’s happened to me in ages!”
The inebriated candidate . . .
At APD, Gwyneth finds Dai chuckling over the laptop screen,
. . . which amuses Gwyneth
and she  reckons that it does not show Debbie at her best.   Dai pleads ignorance as to who took the photo, but Gwyneth recognises his sofa.
Dai is doing the village a public service
People should know what sort of candidate they’re getting!” he tells her.   Gwyneth believes that she has sorted out Gemma at last.
Gethin gives Ffion a microwave
Gethin brings a gift, a new Russell Hobbs microwave, to Ffion, saying that the old one is past it.   Ffion is reluctant to accept, but he tells her, “It’s a microwave, not a ring!”
Ffion is too tired to argue
“I’m too tired to argue,” she admits, “Arwen has hardly slept the last few nights – and I had a visit from Jinx, shouting at me and telling me I’m not fit to be a mother.”
Gethin breaks the news to her
Then Gethin breaks the news that Jinx and Kelly are engaged;  “It didn’t take him long, did it?” rages Ffion.   Gethin urges her to go for a walk to clear her head, while he looks after Arwen.
Gemma is doing some cooking
Gemma is busy, making a chocolate cake and looking conspiratorial.
Diane tackles a black coffee
Diane, wearing dark glasses in the Deri, is greeted by Mark with,
"You had a good time last night!"
“A little bird tells me that you had a good time last night!”
She does not like the sound of "a photo on CnocCnoc"!
Diane adds that she may have had a few, and Mark adds, “That’s not what the photo on CnocCnoc looks like to me.”
"I'm much too busy to look at that!"
Diane asks Anita if she has looked at CnocCnoc this morning, but Anita is too busy for that sort of thing.
Anita sympathises with Ffion
Ffion comes in and Anita tells her that Jinx is now staying with her;  “Kelly must be over the moon, now they’re engaged,” says Ffion bitterly, “She’s welcome to him – the only person who’s important now is Arwen.”
Anita tells her that Jinx believes he is in a stronger position, now he is in a stable relationship.
Jinx announces he is celebrating his engagement
Just then Jinx arrives in the Deri, buys a bottle of champagne and announces, “I’m celebrating my engagement, and getting my little girl back!”
"There's no point in you trying!"
his way out he tells Ffion, “There’s no point in you trying!”
Kelly's jubilation is short-lived
When he gets back to Anita’s, he only has time to pour out the champagne before Ffion bursts in and shouts,
"You'll never, ever, get Arwen!"
“Happy now you’ve found someone else to look after you?   Let me tell you one thing– You’ll never, ever, get Arwen!   I’m her mother!”
"You're deceiving yourself!"
Jinx again insists at she is not fit to be a mother, and that the court will see that.   “Is that why you’ve got yourself another mother to fill the gap?” she demands.   “It won’t work, like it didn’t work last time – you’re deceiving yourself, like you’ve always done!”
"Get out!"
Kelly hisses vindictively in Ffion’s ear, “Get out!”
They drink, "to us!"
and then they resume their toast, “To us!”
If they are not dolly mixtures on the shelf, what are they?
In APD, as Dai arranges some packets on the shelf, Gemma arrives,
Dai is presented with a cake . . .
bringing her chocolate cake, and announces, “This is my birthday cake, and strangely Gwyneth didn’t want any of it.   You enjoyed the last cake I made.”
. . . but he was under the impression that Gwyneth made the cakes
Dai insists that Gwyneth made the last one, but Gemma continues, “No, I make the cakes and all the meals – and the housework.
"I have to do what Gwyneth tells me!"
I have to do what Gwyneth tells me – you know what she’s like.   She gets angry with me.   I’d better go before she loses her temper with me!”
Gwyneth is immediately suspicious of the cake . . .
As she leaves by the back way, Gwyneth comes in and finds Dai cutting himself a slice, but when she hears where the cake came from,
. . . and flings it on to the floor
she throws it to the floor and strides out, leaving Dai puzzled.
"What was in that cake?"
When she gets home, she demands what was in the cake.   After prevaricating that it was just a birthday cake, Gemma adds,
"It was only what he deserved!"
“It was only what he deserved.   Don’t you see, he’s trying to come between us.   That’s why he invited you out on my birthday – he saw how important you are to me, and he didn’t like it!   He didn’t realise we’re like sisters!”
"We're not even friends!"
Gwyneth is incredulous;  “We’re not sisters – we’re not even friends!   The only reason we’re together is that no-one else wants us!   Who wants to be friends with two murderers?”
Gethin has made a few alterations
When Ffion returns, Gethin has prepared some soup and sorted the place out;  Arwen is sleeping peacefully.   Ffion is offended that he has moved the furniture, and has been through her cupboards.
"Did you think you'd find alcohol?"
“Did you expect to find alcohol?   Why did you come here?   You don’t even think I’m fit to look after Arwen on my own!”
"You're a fantastic mother!"
When Gethin insists that she is a fantastic mother, Ffion continues,
"You men are all the same!"
“That’s what Jinx used to say – before he looked for another mother.   You men are all the same;  I can’t trust you an inch!   The last thing I need is another man telling me how to live my life!   Get out, please!”
"Any sane person would have thrown you out!"
Gwyneth furiously tells Gemma, “You’re lucky I let you stay here at all!   Any sane person would have thrown you out!”
Gemma replies, in her usual wheedling manner, “You don’t mean that.   Dai and the rest have poisoned your mind.”
As Gwyneth is about to wallop her, Dai arrives . . .
“The only one poisoned is you!” rages Gwyneth, “Understand?   I’ll make you understand!” and lunges toward Gemma with the intention of hitting her.   At that moment Dai arrives through the open door.
. . . and Gemma continues her fantasy
Gemma runs to him, saying, “She was going to hit me – like before!   She forces me to look after the house and everything!”
Despite Gwyneth’s assertion that Gemma is off her head,
"Don't turn up at APD tomorrow!"
Dai is convinced by the performance, and takes Gemma home with him, warning Gwyneth, “Don’t turn up at APD tomorrow, or I’ll call the police!”
"Ffion's been stirring things"
Kelly tells Anita that Ffion has been stirring things, but Anita replies,
"I'm not surprised!"
“I’m not surprised, after what Jinx said in the Deri.   You should be ashamed of yourself – I thought you were a man of principle!   You’ll do anything to get what you want!”
"He's using you!"
Then she addresses Kelly;  “He’s using you – he only wants to marry you because he thinks it will help him get Arwen!   I won’t stand back and watch you being used.”
“I can’t stay here,” says Jinx, and walks out, warning Kelly not to follow him.
"I hate you!"
“I hate you!” Kelly screams at Anita, and flounces off upstairs.
"That underhanded swine!"
At home at Bryntirion, Diane catches up with the latest on CnocCnoc;  “That underhanded swine!” she mutters, and on hearing Dai come in, shouts, “You’ve gone too far this time, Dai Ashurst!”
She is disturbed to see Gemma there
Then she turns to find he is accompanied by Gemma,
Dai explains she is in danger of physical assault
and he tells her that she is in danger of physical attack by Gwyneth.   Diane is far from happy at her presence there, but agrees she can stay “for now”.
Everything is working according to plan
Gemma herself appears quite satisfied with the way thing have turned out.
Jinx looks around the flat
Jinx arrives at Ffion’s flat in the darkness, stands and looks around.
