Hywel's latest ruse
A small packet is delivered to Hywel – the ring he ordered on Friday;  he hides it in a drawer.
"Ooh!   Can I have it now?"
Gaynor asks what was delivered, and he tells her that St Dwynwen’s day is approaching.
Obviously, Sheryl is full of eager anticipation
Then he has another text:  “Can’t wait to see you.”
She has shut the salon, with talk of someone's birthday
Sheryl closes the salon for the day, telling Dani and Garry that it is a friend’s birthday.   Dani enthuses, “I love being married!”
Jim reports that work is progressing well
Dai, still living at Angela’s, hears from Jim that the work is almost done at Bryntirion, with only the plastering left.
"You can't even ice a cake!"
Dai says he will be doing that, as Jim, “Can’t ice a cake!”
"Well, walls you plastered look like a lemon meringue"
whereupon Jim likens Dai’s plastering to, “A lemon meringue!”
Dai demonstrates how to use a plasterer's float
Dai demonstrates the moves used in plastering, then collapses in pain, so Jim says that Eifion will have to do it.
Britt has definite ideas where the £1,500 should go
Siôn tells Britt that a Premium Bond inherited from his Uncle Sid has won £1,500, which will help with the mortgage;  Britt is of the opinion it should start repaying the debt to Bethania.
Britt reacts badly to the wedding photo
When Dani and Garry come in and give Britt a black and white photo of the low-key wedding, she angrily remarks, “Just to rub my nose in the fact I wasn’t there!”
Hywel fabricates a meeting in Cardiff
Hywel tells Gaynor that he has to go to a meeting in Cardiff tonight, about local radio, and they have offered to pay for a hotel for him.
She is all excited about the ring . . .
“It’s nice for some,” she remarks, and as soon as he leaves, she searches the drawers to find the surprise.   She tries on the ring, and is very excited, but he has left his phone and returns to collect it.
. . . and insists they go to lunch
“Oh Hywel!” she squeals, “It’s perfect!   Can we go for lunch now, before you go to Cardiff?”   She is not expected at school until after lunch, so he can hardly refuse.
"I know where they keep the spare key . . . on one condition"
Siôn is looking for Anita, as Meic has asked him to bring him a book;  Debbie says she knows where they keep the spare key, on one condition – that Siôn takes Debbie with him to visit Meic.
"The least you can do is have a party!"
Garry is anxious to see what a state the garage is in, but Britt insists that they must at least have a party.
"Well, you pay for it, then!"
Dani tries to explain that they do not want any fuss, and Garry tells Britt if she wants a party, she must put up the money.
They admire Gaynor's ring
Hywel and Gaynor come in for their lunch, with Gaynor flashing her ring;   Britt says that Hywel has a “good eye”
"Or a guilty conscience," says Garry, knowingly
and Garry comments, “Or a guilty conscience!”   Hywel is fiddling with his phone and is admonished by Gaynor.
Sheryl is like an excited little schoolgirl
Meanwhile, Sheryl arrives in a hotel room, and scatters rose petals over the double bed in anticipation of an evening’s romance.
Meic has an unwelcome visitor
At the hospice, Meic is not happy to see Debbie;  she tells him, “I just wanted to say sorry!”   “Well, you’ve said it now, so go!” is Meic’s response.   He does not want to see her again, but she assures him she is going to find Gabriella for him.
"Every decision is a hasty one"
When Debbie has gone, Meic tells Siôn that he wants him to take the funeral.   When Siôn advises against a hasty decision, Meic replies. “I’m in a hospice – every decision is a hasty one!”
Eifion is about to get plastering
Dai is supervising Eifion with some practice plastering at APD;  Jim is dubious, “A tenner says he won’t pass the test!”   Eifion urges them to show a bit of faith and make it twenty.
She is not so excited now . . .
Sheryl sits on the bed alone with the candles and soft lights;
. . . and cannot contact lover boy
she rings Hywel’s number and listens to a recorded message.
Meic sees that Siôn is uneasy
Meic asks, “Is this the first time you’ve discussed a funeral with someone who’s still alive?”   Siôn recalls how he cheated Meic and the co-operative out of the Deri,
Siôn at last admits his wrongdoings
and adds, “I borrowed money, thousands, from Bethany’s coffers!”
Meic replies, “You mean you stole it!” but Siôn insists that it will be paid back as soon as he can.
"Saint Siôn is as human as the rest of us!"
Meic laughs, “Saint Siôn is as human as the rest of us!”
“I couldn’t have bought the Deri without that money – if I hadn’t, the co-operative would be running it.   Aren’t you angry?” asks Siôn.
Meic replies, “You’ve been in trouble over the years for standing by your principles;  do you expect a lecture from me?  or forgiveness?   Maybe I’ll meet the Almighty before you, but you’ll have to do your own begging for forgiveness.
"Are you going to bury me, or not?"
Now then, are you going to bury me, or not?”
Jim is dumbstruck by the quality of the plastering
Eifion has made a perfect job of the plastering, which he learned while in prison, and Dai demands his £20 from Jim, who protests that this is not fair.   “That’s the last time I bet with you two, you’re devious cheats!”
"We can put all this nonsense behind us"
Eifion offers to do the plastering at Bryntirion for nothing, and adds, “Surely we can put all this nonsense behind us.”   Dai agrees, as it will keep Diane happy.
Sheryl appears definitely not happy
Gaynor is about to go to school and show off her new ring to the staff  when Sheryl arrives in the Deri.   Gaynor enthuses, “Hywel’s certainly in my good books now!”
"I can get out of attending this meeting!"
Hywel tells her that he can get out of tonight’s meeting and spend time with her.
At least part of the money has been repaid
Siôn is back from the hospice, and tells Britt that the £1,500 has been paid into the Bethania account;  he is not happy when he hears that the customers are drinking free to celebrate Dani and Garry’s wedding.
Sheryl grumbles to Dani, “I don’t like marriage – you can’t put a dog on a lead!”
"Sheryl has some 'issues' of her own"
and Garry explains that she has some issues of her own.
Sheryl leaves, closely followed as usual by Hywel, but when he follows her into her front door, she is emphatic;
"I mean it this time!"
“I don’t want you any more, and I mean it this time!”
Hywel goes on about not wanting to lose her, but she continues, “After today’s antics?   You abandoned me without a word, to make a fuss of your wife!   Go to hell, Hywel!”
But is she permanently showing him the door?
She opens the door and pushes him out.
