Later, Sheryl and Dani arrive from the salon, and are surprised to find the wake has finished. Dani reproves Gerry for not ringing her when Kevin had gone, so that Sheryl could come and see Meic.
“She can see him tomorrow, it’s no big deal!” he replies.

Then Sheryl’s phone rings; it is Meic, telling her he could not leave without saying goodbye; “What do you mean, leave?” asks Sheryl, and he tells her that he is going to Patagonia with Gabriella. “I wanted you to be the first to know, and you can tell everyone now.”

Sheryl says, “You’ve been like a father to me.”

| Waiting until the coast is clear . . . |
Gemma is lurking round the corner as Gwen and Llinos leave the Deri; when the coast is clear, then she slips into Garry’s flat.

Anita and Diane arrive at Cardiff Airport; just as Gabriella is telling Meic, “There’s no turning back now,”

they hear Anita’s voice, shouting, “Meic! What are you doing? Have you completely lost it?

| "How could you be so cruel?" |
“I thought you had a heart, Meic Pierce! How could you be so cruel?” She accuses Gabriella of turning up and taking Meic from her, but Diane urges her to calm down.
“I can’t believe that I’m never going to see him again,” laments Sheryl in the Deri, looking at a photo of Meic and Denzil, and she tells Debbie what has happened.

“You’re lying! He can’t do that without telling me!” she insists, “He’s sly and selfish – how could he go without saying?”

Dani has decided to go home for a bath, and Garry puts an arm round Debbie to comfort her.

Sheryl asks Garry what Kevin had to say, and he tells it looks as if Kevin and Meic have made up.

| Gwyneth gets a shock |
Gwyneth has been dozing on the sofa and wakes with a start to find Gemma standing over her. Gwyneth reminds her she should not be there as Gwern is upstairs; “What if someone turns up?” she asks, but Gemma assures her that no-one will.
“After tonight you’ll be left alone in peace,” says Gemma and produces a bottle and some chocolate.

Sheryl tells Garry that Dani has been keeping her calm at the salon, and Garry replies, “I had better go home and see what the ‘calming influence’ wants for dinner.”

Siôn commiserates with Debbie, knowing how much he meant to her; she snaps, “Means – he’s not dead yet! He was never going to stay with me, Anita was the one for him. I couldn’t have meant much to him, as he left without saying,” but Siôn refutes this, and tells them he will show them later.

Meic points out to Anita that Gabriella wanted him to tell her days ago, but he did not want to hurt her.

“I deserved a chance to persuade you to stay,” she insists, “Or don’t I mean anything to you? Have you thought of Gabriella? A young girl having to attend to you day and night. She had that experience with her mother, and you’re putting her through it again? You’re going to fly away to spend your last days in a perfect dream?

As Dani gets out the Brace’s Extra Thick white bread, Garry asks, “What is it with you and toast?” She tells him that she likes toast and is starving,

but replaces the slices in the packet when he says he will go to Cwm Delhi for some chapattis; “I fancy spoiling you tonight,” he promises Dani.

However, as soon as he has gone, she gets out the bread again, and drops two slices into the toaster.

Meic’s commentary tells them he wants to die in the way he chooses, and is adamant that he does not want any long faces,

“Especially you, Debbie! I might see you on the other side. Bye now!”

At the Airport, Meic explains that it may seem crazy to other people, but this is his life – it belongs to him. “I know exactly what would happen if I came back to Cwmderi – I would deteriorate, and become more and more of a burden on you.” Anita pleads that he would be with people who love him, but he continues,

“What good would it do to have people seeing me die in front of them?
Anita assures him she is willing to care for him, and says he is choosing Gabriella over her. Meic replies that he is choosing not to ruin her life, and reminisces about when they met and fell in love.

“I’m glad you came after me – at least we’ve had the chance to say goodbye,” says Meic, as both of them are in tears.

Gwyneth is puzzled; “What did you mean when you said I’d get some peace after tonight?” Gemma assures her that it is best she knows as little as possible;

“I’m going to make you very happy,” she says cryptically. When Gemma goes upstairs,

Gwyneth looks in her bag, finding the diary, which now bears the name, DANI, scrawled six times.

Garry returns from Cwm Delhi, only to find Dani sprawled on the floor,

apparently lifeless, and the table and chairs knocked over.

| "Tell me what's going on!" |
Gwyneth is insistent; “Tell me what’s going on!” and brandishes the diary.

| "You wanted Dani to leave you alone – now she will!" |
Gemma replies, “I did it for you. This is what you wanted all along – for Dani to leave you alone –now she will!”

| "This was your idea, and I just did what you wanted to do!" |
As Gwyneth puts on her coat, Gemma calmly tells her, “You can’t call the police – this was your idea, and I just did what you wanted to do. You would have set her on fire at some point, probably; I saved you the trouble!”

Gwyneth rushes out of the door, only to see an ambulance along the road; as she approaches, Dani is wheeled towards it.

Gemma stands behind her, and states, “You’re the alibi for me, and I’m the alibi for you. No-one can prove anything. Now, are we going to watch the end of that film?”
Anita hugs Gabriella, urging her, “Look after him!”

Then she embraces Meic, saying, “Safe journey, my love!”
Meic tells her, “Thank you for everything – I love you!”

After a final kiss,
