2 March 2015

Gaynor cannot adjust to life on her own
Gaynor takes out two mugs from the cupboard, then puts one back;
She appears lonely . . .
she appears lost,
. . . and cannot face school
and phones school to tell them she has “a bug” and will not be in today.
The postman acquires some juicy gossip
Meanwhile, Hywel is leaving Sheryl’s and kisses her at the door, witnessed by Mark;  “Everyone will know now!” says Hywel, but Sheryl tells him they will have to face everyone sometime.
"We should go to the Deri – as a couple"
“We should go to the Deri at lunchtime as a couple,” she suggests.
Hywel does not want to make it any more difficult for Gaynor, but Sheryl insists, “We can’t hide away in the flat for ever – it’s time to be open and honest.   Don’t forget to phone Rhys!”
As she goes back inside, she looks jubilant.
Anita will not even let him put the washing in the machine
Anita will not allow Meic to put the washing into the machine, and when there is a knock at the door he asks, “Do you want to answer that as well?”
Meic asks Diane for help
It is Diane, and he tells her that Anita has been insisting on doing everything;  “Can you take her out somewhere to give her a break?”
Gethin is again looking for somewhere to live . . .
Gethin goes to the salon to tell Dani he will be out on the street, as it did not work out at Jinx’s and there is no room at Gwynfor’s.
. . . but does not seem to be getting anywhere . . .
“Garry would go nuts if you stayed with us,” she tells him,
. . . until he points out the reason
but he emphasises that this is Garry’s fault and relates the tale of the thousands of Garry’s “dodgy money” being stolen by Sioned.
At last Dani gives in and hands him the flat key;
"Garry is going to be delighted!"
Sheryl comments, “Garry is going to be delighted!” and adds, “Mind if I go out at lunchtime?   I’m meeting Hywel at the Deri.   There’s no turning back now!”
"I wouldn't mind a bit of company," says Diane
Diane tells Anita, “I’ve got the day off – what are you doing today?   I wouldn’t mind a bit of company.”   Of course Anita has many reasons not to leave Meic on his own,
Gabriella is back, much to Meic's relief
but in the nick of time, Gabriella returns from Llaneuchllyn, and Meic convinces Anita that he will be all right now that she is back.   “Anyone would think you’re trying to get rid of me,” says Anita.
As Gaynor sits morosely, Rhys arrives unexpectedly, as he has to do an essay on Welsh Rugby in the 70s and 80s, and needs his father’s help.
"There's no easy way to say this . . ."
Gaynor tells him to sit down;  “There’s no easy way to tell you this – he won’t be coming home this lunchtime – or any other lunchtime.   I’ve thrown him out!   He’s been having an affair for months, with Sheryl, and she’s pregnant.   So you’ll be having a little brother or sister before long.   Nice, eh?”
"What's wrong with him?"
Rhys is furious;  “What’s wrong with him?   He’s destroyed every family I ever had!” and he storms out of the house.
"He's back to his dirty old tricks!"
Mark tells Debbie what he saw earlier, and remarks, “He’s back to his dirty old tricks!”
Debbie asks them straight
Hywel and Sheryl enter the Deri;  in her usual sensitive manner, Debbie asks, “Are you two together, or what?”
Sheryl replies, “Yes, not that it’s any of your business,” and Hywel mumbles selfconsciously.
Rhys comes in and disturbs the equilibrium, as Garry watches
At this point Rhys bursts in, shouting, “You’ve got a nerve, flaunting her in here!   Gaynor told me everything – how could you do this to her?”
"How can you sleep with her husband?"
Facing Sheryl, he demands, “How can you sleep with her husband?”   By this time, all the other customers are taking a keen interest in the proceedings.
Hywel does not appear happy when told, "Tie a knot in it!"
Hywel suggests they should discuss this somewhere else, but Rhys will not be deterred:  “Why?   Are you ashamed?   You should be!   Tie a knot in it!”
Sheryl intervenes;  “Don’t talk to your dad like that!” but Rhys tells her he will talk to him how he likes.   “Why are you such a dog?   You’ve got a wife at home, and you’re out with your slut!”
Sheryl becomes a victim of the confrontation . . .
This description infuriates Hywel, who lunges at his son;  Sheryl tries to break them up, but is thrown against the bar,
. . . and cries, "The baby!"
and as she sinks slowly to the floor, exclaims, “The baby!”
Hywel and Garry help her to her feet, and, as he takes Sheryl to the hospital, Hywel threatens Rhys, “If anything happens to this baby . . .”   Never slow on the uptake, Debbie whispers, “She’s pregnant!”
Some light relief for Meic in the café
In the café, Gabriella tells Meic of her visit, and Meic confides that it is nice to laugh, especially after the last few days.
"The stress is getting the better of her!"
“I’m coping fine, unlike Anita.   The stress is getting the better of her, she fusses over everything and I’m worried she is overdoing it.”   He asks Gabriella to help with the housework.
"Fingers crossed that the baby's all right"
Debbie comes in with Mark, commenting, “Who’d have thought that was going on under our noses?   Fingers crossed that the baby’s all right.”
"It's all my fault!"
Back at Llwyncelyn, Rhys tells Gaynor that he should not have “lost it” like that;  he will blame himself if anything happens to the baby.
They try to console each other
He tells Gaynor, “You’re a better parent to me than he ever was,” and they hug.
The waiting is over . . .
At the hospital, Hywel is impatient, but at last they are taken to a room where Sheryl is given a scan.
. . . but the baby's heartbeat is difficult to detect
Owing to her early stage of pregnancy, it is difficult to find the baby’s heartbeat, and Sheryl is convinced she has lost the child.
Garry hurls Gethin's bags down the stairs
Garry returns to Dani in his flat, and is appalled when he sees Gethin there;  “He’s not staying here!” Garry insists, and throws Gethin’s bags down the stairs.
Dani takes charge and puts Garry in his place
Dani addresses  Garry;  “He’s here because he cannot afford anywhere else, and that’s your fault, after that business with Sioned.   I won’t see my brother on the streets.   He either stays here or goes back to number 7!”
Garry gives in — anything to get Gethin out of his flat
Garry gives in to her and hands number 7’s key to Gethin;  “You can pay rent next month!” he says, but Gethin protests he cannot pay rent as Garry does not pay him.
"What?   You're not paying him?"
Dani is amazed;  “If he gets no wages, he’ll never pay you back!   This stops today!” she orders.   She tells Garry to pay his wages, and Gethin to repay the money by regular payments.  “I don’t want details – just sort it out!   Is that clear?”
Then she warns Garry to sort things out with Sioned;  “We don’t want her getting one up on you!”
"I'm going to the hospital"
Rhys has been unable to contact his father, so tells Gaynor he is going to the hospital.
Some housework is going on
When Anita returns from her day out with Diane, Gabriella has been vacuuming and Meic doing the dusting, but Anita is displeased.
"It's my job to clean!"
“It’s my job to clean,” she protests, “The menial chores like dusting and cleaning keep my mind off everything else that’s going on.”
"You can get the washing in, and iron it"
Meic reassures her by replying, “Someone needs to get the washing in and do the ironing.”
They are anticipating the worst . . .
Sheryl and Hywel are standing in a hospital corridor, in tears, when Rhys arrives;
. . . and so does Rhys when he sees them . . .
he sees them from a distance and assumes the worst.
. . . but actually the news is good . . .
As he hides round a corner, the nurse tells Sheryl that the baby is fine, much to their relief.
. . . however, Rhys is unaware of this
They leave, much happier, but Rhys is still wracked with guilt.
