Gemma appears on Gwyneth’s doorstep, bringing her breakfast, to say thanks for finding her the lodgings with Megan.

| "Anchovies and jam?" |
As she goes inside, Hywel and Sheryl come out of the shop, having bought anchovies and jam, to appease Sheryl’s craving. “I was just like this with Wil, but it’s a shame Eileen doesn’t have any gherkins!” she tells Hywel.

| Colin resents being dragged from his bed |
Wiliam knocks on the door of number 7, and Colin is not happy at having his lie-in disturbed; he tells Wiliam, “You’ve been a naughty boy! That’s all that Iolo talked about last night – he’s angry, let down and upset.”

“I’ve been such a fool,” replies Wiliam, “And I’m worried that he’ll end the relationship.” Colin points out that it is his own fault, but does inform Wiliam that Iolo has stayed the night in Garry’s flat (but does not explain why).

At Gwyneth’s, Gemma is playing with Gwern while Gwyneth finishes an alteration job. “I could take Gwern for a walk to the park this afternoon,” suggests Gemma,

but Garry will be collecting him, so they agree to meet in the Deri.

| "The place looks as if a bomb hit it!" says Colin |
When Colin calls at Llwyncelyn, Gaynor has put all Hywel’s belongings in bags and boxes; Colin advises she could make quite a lot by selling them on the internet, but Gaynor has already planned what she will do with them.

She catches Colin pocketing Hywel’s watch, and asks for it back, but then relents,

“Actually you may as well keep it!”

| "I want to go to Patagonia . . . and not come back" |
Meic arrives at the consultant’s, and gets straight to the point; “I haven’t got much time left, and I want to go to Patagonia.” The consultant asks, “On holiday?” but Meic assures her he does not intend to return.
“My daughter lives there, and she would fly over with me. Will I be able to make the journey?”

She points out the strain which would be caused by the long journey and concludes that it is not a good idea.

| "What is that Wiliam playing at?" |
Iolo looks from the window of Garry’s flat to see Wiliam in the process of deploying a huge banner across the front of Tomos ac Ellis; it reads, “I’m an idiot. Another chance please?”
The locals view this with amusement, and soon Iolo strides up,

grabs the bucket of water which Gwynfor has been using to clean the windows of the chippy, and throws it over Wiliam.

He orders, “Take it down, and don’t make a scene! When you’ve done that, come up.” Hywel and DJ laugh, but Wiliam is wet, bedraggled and embarrassed.

| Further reasons not to go to Patagonia . . . |
The consultant continues to warn that there many considerations, like oxygen on the plane, and the necessary drugs. She is unaware how the health service works in Patagonia. “Your condition will deteriorate, and you should be given the best possible care.”

| . . . "But she can't actually stop me!" |
Meic is certain that his daughter will look after him, and is simply seeking the “go-ahead”, but the consultant says it must be his decision – she can only advise. She does not recommend travelling.

| "You weren't honest with me!" |
Iolo throws Wiliam a towel, and tells him, “This scene does not alter the fact that you weren’t honest with me.” Wiliam insists he will not make the same mistake again, and that he does not want to lose Iolo.

“Non will adore you – she’s got good taste, like her father,” he says.

| "You will not get another chance!" |
Iolo stresses that there will not be another chance.

| Difficult to imagine Sheryl massaging DJ |
As he has been told to rest, DJ goes to see Sheryl to book a massage, but suddenly Gaynor marches in and deposits two bulging black sacks in the salon.

| Hywel's possessions are thrown on to the road |
Sheryl objects, and follows Gaynor out to her car, as she unloads several more bags and boxes on to the road.
Gaynor states, “I don’t want Hywel’s stuff, and I don’t want him either! You’re a fool, taking him in, he doesn’t love you!”
“Then why did he move in?” responds Sheryl, and looks rather discomfited when Gaynor informs her that she threw him out.

“Has he started lying to you already?” asks Gaynor, “He begged to stay with me, and said he loved me – he was even willing to turn his back on the baby – ask him yourself!”

Colin is watching this exchange, as Gaynor thrusts a model aircraft into Sheryl’s hand, then drives away.

Meic tells Gabriella that he has checked that he would not be prevented from leaving, and has found some bargains on the internet; “It’s all systems go! I’ll ask you once again – will you take me to Patagonia?”
Gabriella still does not think this is a good plan; “The whole idea frightens me! It is only a year since my mother died after I cared for her for a long time.”

Meic realises that he is being selfish, thinking Gabriella could handle things better than Anita, but he is simply transferring the burden to her.

“I’m a fool. I need to accept that I’m going to die in that,” he says, looking at the bed.

As Gemma and Gwyneth play darts at the Deri, Ed reappears after a long absence; he warns Gwyneth that Gemma is vulnerable.

“So you think I’m a bad influence?” Gywneth replies, and Ed urges her not to take advantage. Gemma leaps to her defence;

“Gwyneth has been there for me since I came back, and found me a home! She’s worth ten of you!”

| DJ reluctantly trusts Wiliam |
DJ finds Iolo and Wiliam together in the Deri and accepts that if Iolo trusts him, he should too; he shakes Wiliam’s hand, warning him, “Don’t mess my friend about!”

Gabriella tells Meic, who is sitting morosely, that if he really wants to go, they will go, but there is one condition – that he does not leave the party without saying goodbye, especially to Anita. “It’s cruel to go without telling her. You must change your mind, or I won’t go with you!”

Hywel arrives at the salon with a jar of gherkins, which he has travelled to Llanarthur to buy; Sheryl asks him, “Why are you with me, Hywel?” Puzzled, he replies, “I love you.”

“According to what I heard, you said the same to Gaynor two weeks ago,” says Sheryl, accusingly, “She told me you did not walk out – she threw you out, you begged to stay and would have turned your back on the baby! Don’t you want me, Hywel? I’d rather know now.”

| "Don't tell me you believed that!" |
Hywel is caught rather off guard; “Don’t tell me you believed that! She’s trying to turn you against me, like she did with Rhys. She wants to hurt us like we hurt her. Do you doubt my word? I thought better of you, Sher!”

Sheryl demands, “Do you swear to me that you walked out, and weren’t thrown out?”
“Yes,” he lies, “She’s going to try this time after time, we should be prepared. Gaynor bringing all my stuff over saved me a journey.”

He opens the jar, and Sheryl takes out a gherkin, crunching it with obvious relish.
