Dani has arranged to pick up Gwern from school, and is making some dough for him to play with before she takes him home to Gwyneth. “You know I’m working tonight?” says Garry,

then receives a text from Steve, advising, “Time has changed tonight to 5.30.”

| Dai is slaving over a hot iron . . . |
When Diane comes downstairs in her pyjamas, Dai is hard at work with the iron; she notices that one of the shirts is not clean, as he forgot the stain remover.

| . . . and Diane simply finds fault |
“They will have to be done again!” she tells him, then settles down for her breakfast.

| "Don't forget the cleaning at Megan's shop" |
“I’ll probably ring Jason and Emma, and go to see Glenys,” she tells him, “And don’t forget one of you has to go and clean at Megan’s shop today – at midday, she’s very fussy.”

| Ed is afraid of finding out the truth . . . |
Ed arrives to see Dani, and she is worried that Garry might come back. Ed pleads with her to cancel the arrangement to follow Garry and Sioned;

he is scared that he will find them in each other’s arms. “I’ve thought about nothing else all night!”

Dani will not be deterred though; “They’re scamming, and they can’t deny it if we follow them. All we have to do is find out what they’re doing. I’m relying on you – just go home and calm down. I’ll meet you at 4:45.”

When Dai takes the completed washing to APD, Rhys greets him with, “The afternoon shift’s arrived!” Dai says that actually he has just finished the night shift, and Diane will not lift a finger to help; “But soon she’ll be begging for her job back!”

Rhys has sent out all the invoices and updated the antivirus on the laptop; “It’s already blocked six trojans this morning!” Dai send Rhys to the café for his breakfast and then details him for the Maenan Appeal shop cleaning, saying that his back and knees are playing up.

Gemma is in Megan’s shop, looking at some beads; Megan hopes that she is not coming between Gwyneth and Gwern by living there.

“There’s nothing as special as the bond between a parent and child,” she preaches.

| Diane tells Megan what she has heard |
Diane comes in with the news that she has been told by Jason and Emma that Rhian Haf, Megan’s daughter, is flying back for a conference in London.

| "You haven't argued, have you?" |
Megan appears to be unaware of this, and Gemma starts interfering; “Surely she can’t be too busy to tell her mother. Odd she hasn’t contacted you – you haven’t argued, have you?”
Changing the subject, Megan snaps, “Are you going to buy those beads?” Gemma declines and leaves.

Garry goes to the taxi office and tells Sioned that tonight’s job is cancelled; “I don’t like last-minute changes – that’s when mistakes happen!”

| Megan begins a text to Rhian |
Megan is in the process of composing a text to Rhian, “Hello Rhian, how are you? I hear you’re coming over,” when Dai arrives to do the cleaning.
She complains that he is late, and he blames Diane for being, “As stubborn as a mule!” Megan advises that they should make up, but Dai is in no mood to listen;

“I don’t want your advice – you argue with everyone! Stick to your charity work!”

Megan then sets about deleting the text.
Ed compliments Sioned on her black dress; “Before you ask, it’s not new!” she snaps at him.

| "Please, stay with me tonight!" |
He entreats her, “Please don’t go out tonight – stay with me!” Sioned assures him she will not be late, and then they can watch a film together.

When Dai arrives back at APD, Rhys has rigged up a makeshift table tennis table and challenges Dai to a game to decide who makes a start on the footings at Tumble.

“Right, game on!” says Dai, enthusiastically.

| Gemma is interfering again |
Gemma continues her stirring when Diane arrives at the café; “It’s lucky you told Megan that her daughter was coming, or she wouldn’t have known.” Diane whispers that Rhian obviously does not want to know her mother.

Then Megan joins them, reporting to Diane that Dai was not happy and did not do a very good job; Diane suggests she makes an official complaint to APD.

Then Gemma continues, “Did you phone Rhian? You don’t have much time to organise a party. Having your daughter back from Australia for the first time in years is a cause for celebration. I can help you, as you’re so busy with your good causes.”

Diane tries to intervene; “I expect she’s too busy with her work,” but Gemma is adamant,

| The Ping Pong champion is triumphant |
Although we do not see any of the play, Dai apparently beats Rhys, “Game, set and match!” and reveals he used to be West Wales Ping Pong Champion.

He instructs Rhys, “Right, off you go to Tumble to dig that trench. Just try to look busy, and if anyone asks, say I’m on another job.”

Diane goes to the shop for magazines and chocolates, as she is now a lady of leisure; Eileen tells her Jim does not know when he will be back, and Diane replies that being on his own will serve Dai right after the way he treated her.

“Jim is worried that you’re putting the business in danger by expecting Dai to do everything,” says Eileen, but Diane answers, “Well, phone him then, and tell him to come home! It won’t be long before Dai apologises – I’ll get more respect then.”

Ed is sitting with Dani in the car outside the hotel, and wondering, “Why doesn’t she just finish with me, instead of telling all these lies? They may be in a room, while we’re out here like fools. Garry always wants what someone else has.”

Dani orders him to stop it; they will wait another half hour, and then go home.

At the Deri, Gemma boasts to Megan that she has been clever and looked up Rhian on Facebook; “It’s amazing what you can find out about a person! She was in London a few months ago. She posted stuff about this visit too, and she has plenty of time to visit Cwmderi. I’ve organised a buffet here – do you want me to contact her?”

Megan meekly insists that she will do that.

Diane is at the bar when Dai comes in; “Got no ironing to do?” she comments. Rhys says he has thought of a way for APD to save some money, and of course Dai is eager to learn more.

“You could pay someone else much less to do Diane’s work,” he suggests, but Dai is quite convinced that Diane will come crawling back,

“When things get tight, and she can’t afford to buy handbags.”

Just as Dani says, “Let’s go!” they catch sight of Garry and then Sioned;

they are puzzled to see her wearing glasses. Sioned tells Garry that their mark, “Kept rambling on about his portfolio,” but she purloined his keys and hands them over to Garry.

He hugs her, saying, “You were great!”

Seeing this, Ed loses control, starts the car and accelerates through the car park, while Dani shouts at him to stop.

Garry and Sioned are horrified to see the approaching car, and throw themselves out of its path.

The car squeals to a halt and Ed looks at the motionless bodies on the ground.
