Dai is shouting into the phone at APD, trying to find out where Jim is, and leaves a message; “Hey, scarlet pimpernel, I don’t care if you’ve been up lambing all night, and two cows have died –you’re supposed to be at APD with me!”

Rhys comments, “You do have a way with words!” but says that he will mind the shop while Dai calls to price a job on the way to jury service.

As Dai tries to contact Diane, who also does not answer her phone,

| "Jim will be away for a few days" |
Angela comes in with the news that Jim is in Aberdeen, where his brother has fallen off scaffolding and is in a coma. Dai’s less than sympathetic response is, “Typical – I have to do everything myself!”

| Planning the girls' night out |
In the cafĂ©, Debbie advises Dani and Kelly that they should not have something to eat first; “Then we’ll have more to spend on cocktails!” When Angela comes in, she is persuaded to join the girls’ night out.

| "When's the next job?" |
In the garage, Garry welcomes Sioned with, “It’s the hostess with the mostest!” She wants to know when the next job will be, but Garry is inclined to wait until he is sure that Dani is all right.

| "We're in the clear!" |
“There has been no reaction to the job, so we’re in the clear,” insists Sioned, “They would have taken revenge by now, if they were going to. Someone else must have hurt Dani, and it’s nothing to do with the cars.”

| "You're addicted to the thrill!" |
Garry tells her that she is obviously addicted to the thrill, but she admits she has never been so scared. “I’m ready to take the risk. I’m fed up of going without things I want, and being skint all the time. I won’t let you down!” Garry tells her he will phone tonight to start planning.
Just then, Dani’s voice can be heard, approaching the garage, shouting for Garry, so Sioned hides, while Garry goes to see her.

Dani says that Eileen saw Sioned coming to the garage, but Garry insists Eileen needs to visit an optician, as Sioned is not there, as she can see. When Dani leaves,

Garry wonders where Sioned has managed to hide herself,

| " . . .Out of sight down the inspection pit!" |
then notices her in the pit underneath a car.

| Bad news about Eileen's birthday |
Angela has bad news for Eileen – both she and Sioned thought the other was organising a birthday present for their Mam, so Eileen resigns herself to forgetting about her 50th. Angela has the idea that if Eileen chooses what she wants to do, she will sell it to the rest of the family so they do not know Eileen suggested it.

Rhys, appearing to be running APD single-handed quite successfully,

grabs his coat and locks the door as he rushes out on an errand.

| Sioned comes up with suggestions |
Angela tells Sioned they must organise something for Eileen, but dismisses Sioned’s suggestion of London as being too far, Cardiff as being too busy, and a cottage in St David’s as too claustrophobic.

Then she admits that Mam wants a spa weekend, but Sioned is doubtful; “Ed is not a fan of fluffy robes, and Eifion doesn’t know how to behave in a spa.” She is not keen on sitting round a pool, half-naked, with them.
However she finally agrees that if that is what Mam wants, Angela should arrange it, but moans at Angela for, “Wanting your own way all the time! I thought having a big sister would be fun.”

As Courtney and Ricky come out of school, Rhys is waiting in his new car to take Courtney home, much to Ricky’s disappointment.

Jim asked him to collect her, as she has two boxes of cakes, and after tasting one, Rhys calls it, “Fantastic!”

As Ricky watches, and Courtney looks adoringly at Rhys, the car zooms off.

When Angela takes Debbie a dress she wanted to borrow, Debbie is having second thoughts; “Even if it fits, it will be too young for me. I’m going to be a grandmother – look at all these white hairs.”

Angela comments that sort of thing has not worried her in the past, and tries to encourage her.

Eileen goes to the Deri, and Ows looks quite taken aback when she orders Camomile tea;

Garry asks if he can join her, and presents her with the menu, telling her, “Choose what you want, birthday girl – I’m paying!”

She selects Monkfish and Scallops, and he orders medium rare steak. Garry is sympathetic that Jim is away on her birthday, and admits he does not like being alone in the flat.

Debbie is already staggering when she brings the cocktails from the bar, and then wants to dance;

Kelly describes her as, “Acting like an eighteen-year-old.”

She, Angela and Sioned go with Debbie, mainly, it appears, to stop her falling down.

As they talk over their meal, Eileen says, “You’re a big softie, really,” but Garry describes himself as,

As Eileen tells Garry, “But your heart’s in the right place!” her phone rings;

it is Angela, telling her that Debbie is very drunk, and none of the taxis will bring them home.

Of course, Eileen agrees to drive her Micra up to Swansea to collect them from O’Grady’s. “You’re a star,” says Garry.

When she has left, he receives a call from someone, worrying about the next job; he reassures them (in English), “Like I said, it will disappear through the usual channels. There’s nothing to worry about, we’re partners now – business partners, that is.”

Then he receives a text from Dani; “Everyone is OK here. Eileen’s on the way. Love you, Mr Monk xxx”

When Eileen’s car arrives back in the village, they try to get Debbie out of it quickly;
