Meilyr goes to see his Mam
Hywel and Meilyr visit Sheryl;  she is suprised how much he has grown in a few days.
"The doctor thinks I'll be home next week"
“The doctor thinks I’ll be home next week,” she announces, and Hywel predicts they will be back to normal in no time.
A strong little lad
He also thinks that Meilyr is so strong, he will be a ‘prop’, but he will not allow Sheryl to hold him, as she is too weak;  “Maybe tomorrow,” he says.
Sheryl loves the picture
He presents her with a framed photo of the three of them, which she loves,
"We should set a date for the wedding"
and she suggests, “We should set a date for the wedding, and start making arrangements.   We could have the baptism the same day.   Hywel, Sheryl and Meilyr Llywelyn – it sounds good, doesn’t it?”   She kisses them, and they leave.
Kelly's article which outrages Siôn
In the shop, Siôn is incensed when he sees the Western Post article by Kelly and wants to start protesting;
"We're having a phone-in on CwmFM"
Gwyneth tells him there will be a phone-in on the subject on CwmFM.
Eileen adds a dissenting voice
Eileen ruffles Siôn’s feathers by insisting that more houses are needed;  “Some of them will be ‘affordable’, and it would be nice to have new people around here,” she says.
“To fill your coffers?” retorts Siôn, but Eileen points out it would mean more money for everyone, and asks whether money grows on trees at the Deri.
"I'm surprised at you, Eileen!"
As he leaves, Siôn comments, “I’m surprised at you, Eileen – I thought I could rely on your support!”
"Should I go to Llwyncelyn?"
As it is her lunchbreak, Gaynor calls at the shop, wondering whether she ought to go to Llwyncelyn to collect her post, as Sheryl is in hospital.   Colin fantasises, “You might have won the pools!
"We don't want another baby!"
You could take a present if you’re looking for an excuse – but watch out when you’re together – we don’t want another baby!”
"Thanks for looking after Arwen"
Britt is so grateful to Iolo and Wiliam for babysitting that she invites them to dinner.
"Arwen is comical!"
Iolo calls Arwen “comical”, and adds, “It made me think what fun it would be having children of our own.   It will be nice when she’s back with Ffion, but I’m so glad she’s with you.   It gives Dad a chance to see his grand-daughter.”
Britt grumbles, “He never sees her – his nose is always in his laptop these days!”
Siôn has a good moan . . .
At that moment Siôn strides up, moaning at length about Eileen’s opinion being the opposite of his, and hardly acknowledges Iolo’s presence.
. . . and is not happy that Britt does not agree
When Britt tells him she is in favour of the new houses, Siôn’s mood is not improved, and he insists he is too busy with a translation deadline to have guests for dinner.   Britt of course overrules him.
"Mam's coming along well, isn't she?"
At Llwyncelyn, Hywel tells Gaynor that Sheryl is coming along well, and that Meilyr only woke twice last night.   He thanks her for coming and bringing some food for his dinner;
Gaynor takes her post
he hands her the few items of post and she leaves.
Siôn would rather be getting on with his translation
At Y Felin, Siôn’s attempts to work with his laptop are hampered by Anita, who is keen to get protest leaflets printed and circulated.   He invites her to dinner, much to Britt’s displeasure.
After she has gone, Britt demands, “Why invite her?   You’re being awkward because I don’t agree with you!
"I don't understand you!"
I don’t understand you – you say you want the Deri to be a community pub, then when a company brings in customers, you make placards against them!”
Siôn has more lofty aims than profit
“I don’t expect you to understand,” he replies, “Profit is more important to you than community.”
Hywel could have done with a finer point on his marker
Hywel writes the word “WEDDING” on the calendar, then phones Sheryl, saying, “Marry me – on 12 December!”
Sheryl is pleased the wedding date has been set
She is in favour of this, and he tells her he will arrange the baptism with Siôn;
"Yes, he's fast asleep!"
then he confirms that Meilyr is fast asleep.
Anita is taking part in the phone-in
On the CwmFM afternoon show, Anita is on the phone, protesting against the development;  “We have set up a page on CnocCnoc, and will have posters by tonight,” she informs the listeners.
Gwyneth soon gets rid of Eileen
Then there is a call from Eileen, but as she tries to put forward her opposing position, Gwyneth cuts her off, with the excuse that they are running out of time.
Colin looks at the clock and points out they still have half an hour, but Gwyneth’s answer is, “We don’t want to waste time listening to her!”
"Time for your bottle!"
Hywel has made a bottle and tells his son, “You must be starving, boy.”   He tries to wake the Meilyr,
Suddenly the realisation hits him . . .
then his face falls;
. . . and he phones for an ambulance
he grabs the phone and shouts, “Ambulance please – it’s a baby!”
The ambulance crew rapidly take Meilyr to the hospital.
"Mark the date in your diary!"
Meanwhile, Gwyneth is visiting Sheryl, and is told of the forthcoming wedding.   “12 December – I haven’t bought the dress yet.
"Things are starting to work out for me!"
Things are starting to work out for me, Gwyneth!”
Hywel is at the end of his tether
Hywel has contacted Gaynor, not knowing who else he could call, and she joins him as he waits for news at the hospital.
He tells Gaynor what happened
“He wasn’t breathing!   I tried to wake him, but he wasn’t breathing!   I did everything they told me, but he wasn’t responding at all!”
The doctor brings very bad news . . .
A doctor comes into the room, and tells him, “Please sit down, Mr Llywelyn, I have some bad news.
. . . and Hywel's worst fears are confirmed
We did everything we could, but we couldn’t revive him – Meilyr has died, I’m so sorry.”   Hywel collapses in tears.
The doctor continues, “We won’t know why until we get the results of the post mortem, which will be done in Cardiff.   He’ll be taken there tonight.   Would you like to see him?   The police will want to talk to you as well – it’s all part of procedure.”
"You've got a nerve, coming in here!"
Eileen is furious when Gwyneth comes into the shop;  “You’ve got a nerve, coming here after what you did!”   Gwyneth maintains they have a timetable to keep to, but Eileen is adamant;  “CwmFM should give everyone a voice – for or against!   I want fair play!”
"If you've nothing nice to say, shut up!"
Colin has had enough of this and tells them both, “If you’ve nothing nice to say, shut up!”
A cot contains the body of his son . . .
Hywel is led into a darkened room with a cot on the table;
. . . and a nurse hands the baby to Hywel
the nurse picks up the baby and hands him to Hywel,
He sobs uncontrollably
who takes him and sobs uncontrollably.
The atmosphere at Y Felin is somewhat hostile, with Anita siding with Siôn on the housing subject, and Britt strongly against him.
"My opinion is always wrong!"
“My opinion is always wrong,” says Britt, “Only Siôn is right in this house!”
Iolo's light-hearted comment is not appreciated
Iolo jokes to Wiliam, “He’s a criminal gang leader, who launders money through the translation company!”   Siôn is totally unamused.
Hywel is interviewed by police
Hywel gives his statement to two police officers;
He describes what happened
“There was nothing unusual, I fed him and tried to settle him, but he wouldn’t.   He was missing his mother, who’s in hospital.   He was fine half an hour earlier when I checked.”
At the end of the meal, Anita, Iolo and Wiliam seem very eager to leave.
"Well, you spoilt that dinner!"
When they have gone, Siôn complains, “Well, you spoilt that dinner!”
Britt objects to this;  “Does Anita know you’re using her to prop up your ideas?   Maybe no-one else can see through you, but I can, every day!
"You'll always be resonsible for stealing from Bethania!"
It doesn’t matter how many community campaigns you run, you’ll always be responsible for stealing from Bethania!”
An unwelcome reminder
Siôn is angry at being reminded of this.
Sheryl looks at the picture . . .
Sheryl looks at the picture by her bed
. . . and smiles
and smiles contentedly.

"The hospital don't want Sheryl to know"
Hywel has a phone call, then tells Gaynor that the hospital do not want Sheryl to know until she is stronger.
He is distraught
He sinks to the sofa and dissolves into floods of tears.
