"I don't deserve your concern"
When Gaynor goes to check up on Hywel he tells her he does not deserve her concern;  her response is, “I’ll leave then, shall I?   If that’s what you want.”
"Don't go!"
After a few seconds’ silence, he pleads with her not to go.
Ed's smart chauffeur's cap
Ed, in his chauffeur’s uniform, and the two escorts, one of whom is Vicky, report back to Diane at Bryntirion;
Ed reports a successful launch of the service
“I would say you have two very happy clients,” Ed announces.   Vicky reveals she was given a massive tip, and asks Diane where the cash is.
We should be told – who is this blonde Cwmderi inhabitant?
Diane gives the two girls £200 each, and they are about to go to Swansea to spend it when
Ed warns them, “Sioned doesn’t know about this, and I don’t want her finding out!”   Diane also admits that Dai knows nothing of the venture.   Vicky describes her as “a dark horse”.
Mark wants someone else to babysit
In the café, Mark is hoping that Dol can look after the baby, as he cannot babysit all day, and Vicky is not answering her phone.
"Oh, Vicky has gone to Swansea!"
Then Diane arrives, wanting to talk with Debbie about the proposed housing development, and advises that Vicky has gone to Swansea.
"I'm doing a sponsored silence!"
Debbie tells them she is doing a sponsored silence for Children in Need;  Mark is sceptical about this, but promises to donate if she succeeds.   He also informs them that he is against the housing, as there will be too much traffic, but Diane dismisses this as scaremongering.
"You haven't eaten for days"
Gaynor tries to persuade Hywel to eat a little, telling him he has not eaten for days.   His mind is on other things;
Hywel is convinced he is to blame
“I killed him, and no medical diagnosis will change that.
"This is a punishment!"
This is a punishment for everything I’ve done.  You know how selfish I’ve been, breaking hearts, telling one lie after another to get my own way – what happened to Meilyr is punishment!”
"It's nobody's fault"
Gaynor replies, “I know you’re trying to make sense of it, but it’s simply a tragedy, it makes no sense and never will.   There is no reason, and it’s nobody’s fault.”
The councillors discuss their strategy . . .
Diane warns Debbie that they have to be careful, or they, as two councillors, will be accused of looking after their own interests;  they have to consider what is best for the community.   Dai has come in and addresses them;
"Oi!" says Dai
“Oi!   I hope I’m not interrupting anything important.
"I'd like a cup of tea – a hot one!"
I’d like a cup of tea – a hot one – if it’s not too much trouble!”
"Get rid of the hippies!"
When Debbie goes to make it, he sits opposite Diane and tells her that they need a plan of action, to get rid of the “hippies” protesting against the development.   Diane doubts whether Mark and Cadno could be classed as “hippies.”
"Another middle-class hippie!"
Then Jim arrives, and Dai calls him, “Another middle-class hippie – in cahoots with Cadno!”
Ricky lets the cat out of the bag . . .
Ricky comes in, wanting to borrow £10 from his mother for some comics, as he cannot play his X-box games since the bailiffs took the console away.   “I thought you knew about Mam-gu being in debt,” her says;  Debbie did not and is furious.
Jim offers him some work
Jim offers him £10 if he will shift some boxes at APD and Ricky jumps at the chance.
"I don't know what I would have done without you!"
Hywel is at least eating something, and tells Gaynor he does not know what he would have done without her;  “That’s what ex-wives are for,” she replies.   He insists that he has to tell Sheryl this afternoon, as she has a right to know, and a few days will not make any difference.
Idwal is not tired of Gaynor – yet
Gaynor rejects a call from Idwal, and agrees to accompany Hywel to the hospital.
"I've had some enquiries"
Ed visits Dani in the salon asking if there is any chance of more work from Cwmni Perffaith, and Dani says that she has had some enquiries.   “It makes some money to keep the company ticking over,” he tells her,
Ed justifies not telling Sioned
“And it’s not as if Sioned never keeps secrets from me, is it?”   He stresses that the job did indeed go very well, and is keen to get some repeat business.
Gaynor comes into the salon for some shampoo for Sheryl;
"How do you get over something like that?"
“Does she know yet?” enquires Dani, and adds, “Hywel must be in a state – how do you get over something like that?”
Strange place to keep your cash
In APD, Diane stuffs a big wad of notes down the front of her blouse, as Ricky comes in and complains to Jim that he has had enough of shifting boxes.
"Well, you won't get paid then!"
Jim advises him that if he does not finish the job, he will not get paid, and Ricky leaves in a temper.
Diane remarks, “The first rule of business – don’t work your staff too hard.”
"If they only do half a job, don't pay them!"
Jim adds his second rule;  “If they only do half a job, don’t pay them!”
"Look what I just found outside!"
Dai storms in, having found half a dozen protest posters outside APD, and accuses Jim of putting them there.
"I'm in favour of the development"
“Why would I do that to my own business?” Jim demands, “If you must know, I’m in favour of the development, I just don’t go round promoting it.”
"I can't take you out until Vicky comes back"
At Maes-y-Deri, Ricky wants Mark to take him somewhere, but he cannot until Vicky returns.   “Have you been taking money from the scratchcard pot again?” asks Mark, and Ricky vehemently denies it.
Vicky presents him with a replacement console . . .
Then Vicky returns, having bought Ricky another X-box console, which pleases him no end,
. . . so he has no reason to go out
and he loses all desire to go out anywhere.
Hywel summons up his courage
Hywel and Gaynor sit disconsolately in the hospital corridor;  “Are you sure about this?” she asks, and tells him she will be in the café.  Hywel gets up and strides towards Sheryl’s ward.
"I could strangle her!"
Debbie is at Maes-y-Deri, where she wishes she had been told about the bailiffs when it happened.   “I could strangle her!   But she’s gone to see a friend who keeps budgies – probably something dodgy!”
"Why can't we be an ordinary family?"
Vicky wonders why they cannot just be an ordinary family.
At this point, Debbie decides to begin her sponsored silence;
Ricky anticipates a quiet week . . .
Ricky asks, “How long is it for – a week?”
Mark tells him it is only an hour;  “You can say what you like to her, and she can’t answer back!” he laughs,  “Nows your chance!
. . . and Debbie suppresses the urge to give him a mouthful
Ricky suggests that she wants to pay for a takeaway for all of them, and goes to find a menu.
Sheryl's light reading
Sheryl has been looking at a wedding magazine and thinking about her dress;  “I want Meilyr to have a little suit – he’ll look so cute!”
"Think you'll be able to hack it?"
Looking at Hywel she says, “You’re not getting any younger – do you think you’ll be able to hack it – Meilyr and me?   I’ll be home soon to share the burden.”
Hywel's attempt to look normal
Hywel sits silently, with a fixed smile on his face.
"We'e got three more bookings!"
Dani goes round to APD to excitedly announce to Diane, “The good review published on CnocCnoc means we’ve got three more bookings!   This business is going places!”   Diane fishes out the money from its hidingplace and gives Dani some, telling her to buy herself something nice.
"Do you always keep your money there?"
“Do you always keep your money there?” Dani enquires, and Diane replies that it is somewhere Dai would not look.
"Jim is under Eileen's thumb"
When Dai comes in, Diane tells him, “Jim is under Eileen’s thumb – if she is in favour, so is he.”
“That’s what I like about you,” Dai confides,
"We're singing from the same hymnsheet!"
“We’re on the same wavelength, no secrets, singing from the same hymnsheet!”   She carefully zips up her APD fleece.
Hywel’s hand is shaking as he takes Sheryl’s teacup, and when she asks to see the new photos, he hesitantly begins,
"There's something you should know"
“There’s something you should know.   The doctors didn’t want me to tell you until next week, but you have a right to know.”
Sheryl panics that another operation is necessary
“No! – I don’t need another operation, do I?” she asks, but he shakes his head.   “What is it, then?”
"Meilyr has died!"
In tears, Hywel breaks the news, “Meilyr has died – he’s gone, Sher – he’s dead!   I thought he was asleep, but when I checked he wasn’t breathing, so I called the ambulance.   They told me what to do to try and revive him, but it didn’t work.
Sheryl thinks she is imagining this
They took him to hospital, but couldn’t do anything – he had a heart condition.   I thought it was something I’d done – the room too warm, too many blankets, or I’d done something while feeding him.
"A heart condition killed him!"
The Coroner said that a heart condition had killed him.”
"Meilyr!"
Sheryl is trembling as she pleads, “Please tell me it’s not true!   Meilyr!”
Suddenly she cannot breathe
She struggles for breath and clutches her chest, as Hywel calls for help.   The first nurse to arrive presses the alarm button,
They attempt to resuscitate her
and they administer oxygen to her.
"I can't lose her too!"
Outside the door, Hywel sobs to Gaynor, “What am I going to do?   I can’t lose her too!”
