16 November 2015

Miraculous recovery, since being at death's door on Friday!
Having apparently made a rapid recovery, Sheryl arrives back at Llwyncelyn, walking with a stick.   “Where was he?” she asks,
"I shouldn't have had the operation!"
“I shouldn’t have had the operation!   If I had been here, it would have been different.”
Hywel receives a phone call
Hywel receives a phone call, and tells Sheryl that Meilyr has been taken to the chapel of rest.
"I want to see him – now!"
She immediately insists that she wants to go and see him, and will not be dissuaded.
Eileen removes protest posters
The shop has been attacked by the flyposters, and Eileeen is angrily removing them;  “When I find out who is responsible, they’ll never shop here again,” she tells Siôn, “It’s vandalism, and I’ll call the police!”
Kelly arrives, wanting to interview someone who is against the development;
Siôn self-effacingly suggests Gwyneth
Siôn volunteers Gwyneth, as he says this protest movement is not all about him.
"Dirty tactics of the opposition!"
Eileen comments, “You ought to write about the dirty tactics of the opposition!”
"I'll treat you to a meal tonight"
Gaynor is hurrying to a meeting in Carmarthen when she meets Idwal outside the café, and apologises for not calling him back.   “I’ll treat you to a meal in the Deri tonight,” he tells her, then strides off with his briefcase.
Gethin comes round the corner and is greeted by Kelly;  “All right, stranger?” she says, “It feels as if you’ve been away for ages.   How’s Daniel?”
"How is Ffion?"
He replies that Daniel is fine and asks after Ffion.  Kelly smilingly announces that she is “good”.
The funeral director's office
At the funeral director’s,
Sheryl goes in, alone
Sheryl insists she wants to be alone with Meilyr’s coffin for a couple of minutes.
At CwmFM, Colin is telling the listeners, “Don’t let the cold weather bother you – there’s lots of Country and Western music to warm the cockles of your heart.”
"Where do you stand on the housing development?"
Gwyneth asks him, on air, where he stands on the housing development;  he will not commit himself.
"I don't understand politics!"
“As you know, I don’t understand politics,” he replies.
Gwyneth’s response is, “Eileen in the shop doesn’t either, but that hasn’t stopped her.   She said that people who oppose the housing are not welcome in her shop!”
Eileen is highly offended
Of course, Eileen is listening to this in the shop, and remarks to her customer that Gwyneth has gone too far this time.
"That was unacceptable!"
As Gwyneth plays another song, Colin remonstrates angrily with her, “That was unacceptable!”   She replies that it was simply banter on air, but Colin stresses, “I made it clear that I didn’t want to get involved, and neither do the listeners.”
"Only cowards sit on the fence!"
Gwyneth reminds him that only cowards sit on the fence.
Sheryl lays down her requirements . . .
Sheryl announces that she wants a private service for family only at Llwyncelyn, but Hywel tells her he has made arrangements at Bethania, and has invited a lot of people to come.   “Didn’t you think I might be too weak to attend chapel?” she scolds him.
. . . the clothes Meilyr is to wear . . .
Then she turns to the funeral director and gives him the clothes she has selected for Meilyr to wear,
. . . and his teddy
and the teddy to be placed by his side.
"She'll want to split up with me!"
Gethin tells Kelly that he would not be surprised if Ffion wanted to split up with him, which would please Natalie, who does not want them to be together.
Indeed, she does seem rather distant
At that moment, Ffion walks in and seems less than enthusiastic to see him.
He whines to Kelly, “There – she doesn’t want to know!”
"Go and talk to her!"
but Kelly advises that they are hardly likely to have a heart to heart in the café, and urges him to go and see her, and then he will know.
Initially, Eileen refuses to serve Colin . . .
Colin calls at the shop for a pint of semi-skimmed milk, but Eileen gives him the cold shoulder and refuses to serve him.   “You didn’t defend me on air!” she accuses him, and he replies that Gwyneth called him a coward earlier.
. . . but is assured this milk is not for her
After assurances that the milk is not going to be used by Gwyneth, Eileen relents.
"I still want Siôn to take the service"
Back at Llwyncelyn, Sheryl tells Hywel she still wants Siôn to take the service.
"Can I invite Gaynor?"
Hywel asks if he can invite Gaynor, although she is not family;  she says, “Do whatever you want.   You were with him – I wasnt!”
"Eileen is threatening OFCOM!"
Colin warns Gwyneth after their shift that she should be careful, as Eileen is threatening to involve OFCOM.
"The police and OFCOM in one day!"
Gwyneth laughs, “The police and OFCOM in one day!   I must be a naughty girl!”
"I want an official apology!"
Then Eileen marches in, demanding, “I want an official apology on the programme tomorrow!”   Kelly predicts some fireworks,
Kelly is ready to record this
and has her recorder at the ready, but is told by Eileen that this is a private matter.   “Why are you doing this to Hywel?   It’s a difficult enough time without you causing trouble for CwmFM.   Your lies on the radio could affect my business!”
Gwyneth is suitably humbled and agrees to apologise;  Eileen’s parting shot is, “Think before you speak!”
Sheryl's mother arrives unexpectedly
There is a knock on the door at Llwyncelyn and Julie, Sheryl’s mother arrives;  as they hug, Sheryl pleads, “Why, Mam?   Why my little baby?”
Hywel explains the change of venue
Hywel goes to the Deri to explain to Siôn that they now want the service at home, and he agrees to help in any way he can.
Gwyneth asks if Sheryl is up to receiving visitors
Then Gwyneth comes in to ask Hywel if she can go and see Sheryl.
Gaynor is informed of the changes
Next he speaks to Gaynor, who is sitting at the table with Idwal;  he invites her to be at the funeral, and says he has spoken to Rhys, who will not be able to return from America.
Gethin brings a peace offering
Gethin arrives at Cysgod y Glyn with a tub of icecream as a gift for Ffion;  he admits that he should not have gone to Swansea and left her.
"I didn't know you'd been sacked!"
“I didn’t know you’d been sacked – imagine how bad I felt,” she tells him.   He is pleased to see that she is doing well;  she reacts, “I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again!   I’ve got a doctor’s appointment and a liver scan on Thursday, to see if it’s all right.”
"Daniel is almost as good as his dad!"
He tells her that Daniel is almost as good a footballer as his dad, then asks if he can share the icecream.
"What a nerve!"
Ffion exclaims, “What a nerve!   Bringing a present and then asking to share it!”   Gethin suggests that he could cook dinner and they could have it for dessert.
Hywel finds Sheryl has visitors
Eileen visits Sheryl and tells her that all she can do is take every day as it comes.   Sheryl appreciates talking to someone who understands a mother’s suffering, then Gwyneth arrives as Eileen leaves.
Gwyneth hugs Sheryl
Gwyneth hugs Sheryl.
"It's not going to work!"
Ffion and Gethin are preparing the meal;  “It’s not going to work,” she says, “What if I get ill again?”   Gethin assures her that they will work through it together.   She asks, “What about Natalie?” and he replies that he does not care about her, and that he does not have to choose between them.
"I want to be with you for ever!"
“Not a day passed this last two weeks when I haven’t thought of you,” says Gethin, “I’m not saying it will be easy, but I want to try again – I want to be with you for ever!”
“For ever is a long time,” warns Ffion, “Let’s just enjoy dinner.”
Idwal has a surprise for Gaynor . . .
Idwal has a surprise for Gaynor;  “I’m taking you away next weekend, staying at a five-star hotel, swimming pool, jacuzzi, the works!”
. . . but she looks less than enthralled
Gaynor, looking decidedly not thrilled, replies that she cannot go.
When he offers to change the date, she explains, “It’s more than that, I’m just not sure about this relationship!”
He thinks, "It's that flaming Hywel again!"
Idwal again detects that this is about her and Hywel.   “This last week has been awful, and has taken its toll on me,” she confesses.
"One salad and one pie"
Siôn brings over the salad for Gaynor and pie for Idwal;  “I’ll bring the gravy,” he says.
Idwal jumps to his feet, grabs his coat and tells Gaynor, “See you around!” then hurriedly leaves.
Yet another meal goes to waste!
Siôn returns with the gravy, and finds his customer has vanished.
Ffion ensures she has the last spoonful
To finish their meal, Ffion and Gethin eat the icecream on the sofa;  Ffion asks if he really thinks it can work, and he answers,
"I'd move back in tomorrow!"
“If it were up to me, I’d move back in tomorrow!”   She muses on the fact that there are so many considerations that make it complicated.   “It’s not complicated if we love each other!” states Gethin.
Ffion does not know what to say, so he prompts her;  “Say ‘I love you and want to be with you, because you’re the best thing that has happened to me’!   Natalie will just have to accept it – if you still love me, we can do this.”
"OK – fine!"
“OK – fine!   You can move back in tomorrow.   If we’re doing this, let’s do it properly – we’re crazy,”
Will her happiness last this time?
Ffion says, hugging him.
"I'm off to bed – but not with you"
Sheryl is ready to go to bed, but, she tells Hywel, not with him;  her mother will sleep with her tonight.
Hywel is abandoned
Hywel is left alone and feeling rejected.
