Apparently, Arwen is not too well
In the Deri, Britt has just returned from getting cough mixture for Arwen, and Siôn is in a hurry to get to his church committee meeting.
Dani is talking to Gethin on the phone
By the bar, Dani is on the phone to Gethin, and learns that Daniel was the top goal scorer.
“Ffion?” says Dani, “I haven’t seen her since yesterday morning.   She doesn’t want help – don’t make me responsible – it’s not fair!”
"On the pop again, is she?"
At the other end of the bar, Kelly comments, “She’s on the pop again, is she?   When I saw her yesterday, she was in a crazy mood – it doesn’t take a genius to work out why Arwen is staying with Britt.”   Dani explains she is supposed to be keeping an eye on Ffion, but does not know how to handle her.
"I could serialise Jinx's life story"
Kelly recalls that is how Jinx ended up;  “I could serialise his life story – living with an addict.”   When Dani pleads with her to come and give Ffion some advice, she answers,
"I don't even like her!"
“What I went through with Jinx doesn’t qualify me to do this – I don’t even like her!”   However, she does eventually agree to accompany Dani.
Has it been that long since Brandon's death?
Garry is in the churchyard, looking at Brandon’s gravestone when Siôn passes, on his way to his ecumenical meeting.
"I could have been buried here"
Garry comments, “I was just thinking that I could have been buried here, if you had left me under the van to die.”
Siôn is soliciting for donations . . .
Siôn asks if he will contribute to Meic’s memorial fund, which will go towards activities for children and young people;  “Maybe Gwern could benefit,” says Siôn, “The raffle raised a few hundred, and Megan has donated £100.”
Garry replies, “So £200 could be a huge boost,” but when Siôn agrees it could very useful,
. . . but Garry has a different idea
Garry continues, “You misunderstand me – you would be writing the cheque.   You still owe a lot of money, and if you write a cheque, I’ll cut the debt by £200 – but I’ll still want to see my name in Cwm Ni at the top of the list!”
Garry is amused once again
As Siôn hurries away to his meeting, Garry again smiles, but then sees Julie enter the churchyard, carrying flowers.
"It looks a lot tidier than yesterday"
Dani and Kelly arrive at Cysgod y Glyn to find the place much tidier than of late and Ffion not there,
"Just come in as if you own the place!"
but she soon comes up the stairs with a carrier bag and a story about having been to see the doctor.   Kelly is understandably sceptical about this,
"Gaynor persuaded me to see the doctor"
although Ffion insists, “Gaynor knocked some sense into me, and persuaded me to see the doctor.   You’re right, Dani, I have to conquer this for Arwen’s sake.”
Cadno makes sure DJ is smart for the court
DJ prepares for his court appearance and advises that it is better that Cadno will not be there;  he assures her that he will be back today, at least.
"You're more of a man than I am!"
Eifion admits, “You’re more of a man than I am – you deserve a medal, taking the blame!”   DJ points out that Penrhewl needs Cadno more than him, but Eifion remembers prison as being the worst place he has been;  “I was there for over a year, but you’ll only get three months max, if that.”
Who is this Chris Frost, whose name appears above Brandon's?
By the graveside, as Julie lays her flowers there, Garry informs her that Brandon had an honourable funeral, with all his family and friends there, except her.
"You didn't want me turning up"
“I knew it would be a difficult day, without me turning up,” Julie replies, turning to adress the gravestone, “I had the best time of my life with you, Brand, if only I’d realised that.”
She tells Garry, “Maybe if I hadn’t left him, he wouldn’t have been killed.”
"Britt won't be so forgiving"
Garry also has regrets;  “If we had not argued, maybe he would not have been in the flat when it caught fire.”   Then he warns her, “I don’t think Britt will be so forgiving!”
"When's your next meeting with this 'doc'?"
Kelly asks, disbelievingly, “When’s your next meeting?   You and this ‘doc’?”
Dani does some detective work
Dani is looking through Ffion’s carrier bag and finds two bottles.   Ffion springs to her feet and wrestles with Dani, managing to seize one of the bottles,
She locks herself in the bedroom with a bottle
and escapes to her bedroom, locking herself in.
Hywel and Sheryl come downstairs after their painting session,
Hywel and Sheryl have a break from painting
to find Julie has returned, and is telling them she has to pack.   As she had planned, Sheryl insists that she cannot go yet;
It is obvious where Sheryl gets her manipulative nature from
Julie replies, “Well, if you’re sure!” and grabs a paintbrush to lend a hand.
"You have to come out some time"
Outside the bedroom door, Kelly tells Ffion that she has to come out some time.   Dani suggests they should contact Jinx, but Kelly argues that Gethin should be there, not watching Daniel play football.
Internet search for "rehab" . . .
Dani has to leave as she has a client at the salon;  meanwhile Kelly searches for “Rehab” on her iPad,
. . . finds the Hafan Clinic
and finds Hafan Clinic.
"How will you cope without DJ?"
Cadno worries that DJ has been gone a long time, and Eifion asks, “How will you cope if he goes to jail?   You have to consider the possibility, and I cannot give up my job.”
"It's a matter of waiting now"
DJ returns, telling them, “It’s just a matter of waiting now,”
Sentencing on 30 October
and makes an entry in the farm diary for 30 October – “Sentencing”.   Eifion says that Cadno should be advertising for a farm hand, just in case, but DJ’s response is,
"You can't wait to get rid of me?"
“So you can’t wait to get rid of me then?   If I get three months, I shall be out before Christmas.   Surely Jim and a slacker like you can fill the gap!”
"I'm not looking for a replacement"
Cadno reassures him that she is not looking for a replacement.
One bottle later, Ffion emerges . . .
At last, Ffion emerges from her bedroom, clutching the empty bottle and demanding, “Where’s Dani?”
. . . indulges in unsteady gyrations . . .
She puts on some music and starts dancing unsteadily;
. . . and looks for more alcohol
“You know what?   What you need is a drink!   Where’s my bag – Dani’s taken it, hasn’t she” – Cow!   Or have you hidden it?”
She collapses in a heap by the cupboard
As she desperately searches for more alcohol, Kelly tells her, “I’ve been looking at rehab clinics like you went to before.   Mountain Lodge, or was it Cedars Retreat?”   Ffion takes no notice, but frantically pulls things out of the cupboard.
"You have to go back there!"
Kelly grabs her and stands her up;  “You have to go back there!” she exclaims.   Ffion mumbles that she did not go to the doctor’s, and Kelly continues, “I know.   I’ll help you contact them, OK?”
Ffion is almost insensible
Ffion is by now crying.
No a very cordial welcome for Julie
Hywel, Sheryl and Julie arrive at the Deri, where Britt glowers at them;  “You landed on your feet, running the Deri!” remarks Julie.
"I couldn't bear to let her go"
Meanwhile Sheryl tells Hywel, “I couldn’t bear to let her go when she was so upset,” an opinion he obviously does not share.
Siôn looks quite friendly . . .
Siôn comes into the bar and greets Julie;  “A pint for Hywel and orange juice for Sheryl and me, and a large vodka in mine – and whatever you two want,” she says.
. . . but Britt is quite vehement
“I won’t forgive you that easily!” snarls Britt, but Julie promises she will be coming in regularly when the baby is born (much to Hywel’s disappointment).   “Brandon was heartbroken when you left him!” shouts Britt.
“But he moved on quickly – and was quite happy with Dani!” is Julie’s reply;  Britt assures her that he went to his grave hating her.
"It's not a good idea for me to be around"
Julie returns to Sheryl and tells her it is not a good idea for her to be around.   Of course Sheryl pleads with her not to go,
"Oh, if you insist, I'll stay!"
and once again she acquiesces.
Kelly has entered the clinic’s number into her phone and urges Ffion to speak to them;  “They helped you before and can do it again,” she says.
Ffion slumps back ito the chair
Dani returns, and Ffion jumps up from her chair, only to quickly subside on to it again.
"I just want to be left alone!"
Dani insists that she only wants to help, but Ffion’s answer is, “I just want to be left alone!”
Although Dani is prepared to go and leave her, Kelly is determined;  “Ffion, please – for Arwen!   Her father has left – Jinx is gone, and she’s about to lose you!   You have to phone – you can do this!”
"I can't!"
However, Ffion is adamant that she cannot.
"Ffion Llywelyn . . . needs help!"
Kelly dials the number;  “I’m calling on behalf of a friend, Ffion Llywelyn.   She’s been with you before – she needs help!”
