Breakfast time at Bryntirion
Diane (in her curlers) and Dai are eating their breakfast when there is a knock at the door.   Diane indicates that he is to answer it, and he exclaims, “Crikey Moses!   What do you want?   Look what I found on the doorstep!”
Diane tries to ignore Julie
Diane is far from welcoming;  “I heard you were back,” she says,
"Seven years with no contact!"
“Seven years, that’s how long it’s been, with no text, no phone call, not even a Christmas card!   Then you waltz in here and expect to turn the clock back.”   Julie replies that she is there to apologise, and Diane assumes, “Probably because you want something!”   Dai leaves them and goes to get ready for work.
"Leaving Cwmderi was the hardest thing I ever did"
Julie protests that she did not leave Cwmderi to enjoy herself, as it was the hardest thing she ever did.   Diane reminds her that she broke Brandon’s heart, but she answers,
"Tyrone didn't trust me!"
“Tyrone didn’t trust me – I spent years just going from the house to work and back again.   He wouldn’t let me go shopping on my own, but I was too scared to leave him.”
Angela is exasperated
Eifion is eating a leisurely breakfast when Angela comes in, after a hectic night shift, and is furious to see the house in such an untidy state.
"There's even more mess than last night!"
“There’s even more mess than there was last night!   But I’m too tired to argue with you;
"I expect the place to be spotless!"
“I’m going out for an hour, and when I come back I expect the place to be spotless!”
Gemma is using the café laptop . . .
Gemma is sitting in the café,
. . . looking up Borderline Personality Disorder
looking up Borderline Personality Disorder on the laptop, when DJ brings some “Penrhewl best potatoes”.  Gemma invites him to have a coffee with her, and he orders a bacon sandwich from Ed.
Julie admits she should have told Diane what was going on;  “I wrote lots of texts, but didn’t have the guts to send them,” she says.
"It's time we were going to work!"
Dai comes downstairs in his APD uniform, and thanks Julie for calling, “But we both have to go to work now!”   Diane announces that she is taking a day off, and Dai is incensed;  “To waste time with her?   You spend the weekend bad-mouthing her, and then . . .”
"Now we understand each other"
Diane completes his sentence;  “And now we understand each other.   I decided to retire,” she explains to Julie, but Dai calls it “sulking”.
“You may have been away for years, but you still talk nonsense,” grumbles Dai, “I’m going before I say something I regret!” and he stomps off to APD.
"Know anyone who leases posh cars?"
Angela goes to visit Sioned, wanting advice;  “A colleague is getting married and wants to hire a posh car for a day – you must know someone.”   Sioned insists that she has no contacts, and there is no demand for that sort of thing around there.
Angela suggests it may be a business opportunity, but Sioned points out that luxury cars cost a fortune.   She senses that Angela sounds fed up.   “I’m sorry, it was a tough shift last night,” Angela explains.
"I fancy going back to Cwm Delhi"
In the café, DJ tells Gemma, “I fancy going back to Cwm Delhi at the weekend.   We could get a group together, start a Curry Club.”
Gemma replies, “I’d prefer a club for two, if that’s what you want.”   DJ says he does, and they agree on Friday night.
"You been replaced already – gossiping here?"
Eifion comes in, stirring things and asks, “Has Cadno found a farm hand already to replace you?   There’s work to do while you sit and gossip!”   Then he tells Gemma, “It’s only while he’s in jail!”
Iolo and Wiliam are babysitting
As Julie and Diane walk along the street, they meet Iolo and Wiliam, who have been recruited to take Arwen to the park;  Julie fancies Wiliam.
Anita walks away
Then they encounter Anita;  “I was sorry to hear about Meic,” says Julie, but Anita simply turns and walks away.   Diane explains that Anita has a problem with her.
"Eifion is the problem"
Sioned tries to discover what it troubling Angela, and she answers that Eifion is the problem;  “The house is a mess, but he won’t lift a finger.   He expects me to do everything – I’ve told him many times, but it’s in one ear and out the other.”
"Find another way to make him listen"
Sioned advises that she must find another way to make him listen.
"Did Angela leave because of me?"
As Angela is leaving, Gemma comes in, and thinks that Angela is going because of her, but Sioned reassures her that it is because she has a lot on her mind.
"Half the village knows more than me!"
DJ returns to the farm, complaining to Cadno that Eifion knows more about what is going on than he does.   “Half the village knows more than me – they all know I’m going to lose my job!”
"You don't give a damn about me!"
Despite Cadno’s denials, he continues, “As long as you’re fine and dandy, you don’t give a damn about me!”
"I don't usually get given a menu!"
Diane turns up at APD;  “I’ve come to tell you what’s for dinner – fry some potatoes to have with cold meat, or make yourself a sandwich.   I’m going out with Julie.
"That's not right – two men raising a child!"
Dai looks out of the window and sees Iolo and Wiliam with Arwen;  “That’s not right – two men raising a child!”   Diane informs him that they are only helping out Britt and Siôn.
"A child needs a mother and a father"
“A child needs a mother and father, not two fathers!” he adds, but Diane asks where Arwen would be if she had to rely on her mother.
"Don't be so narrow-minded"
“Don’t be so narrow-minded, and be man enough to admit you’re angry that Julie is back,” Diane tells him.
"I've even cleaned the toilet!"
Angela is pleasantly surprised by the condition of the house when she returns;  Eifion boasts, “I’ve tidied up, hoovered and dusted, even cleaned the toilet!   And there are cakes to go with a cup of tea.”
"How about a weekend away?"
Angela suggests they could have a weekend break to a hotel somewhere.   “The weekend after next you’re not working,” she says,
"That clashes with my rugby trip!"
but he does not want to miss his rugby trip, and describes a weekend away as a waste of money.   “So treating me would be a waste of money?” is Angela’s reaction,
"Selfish swine!"
“I hope your money rots away – selfish swine!”
Sioned has a business idea
Sioned reveals to Ed her plan for expanding Deri Deithio;  “Not another taxi, but another target market.   Cars for special occasions – there’s plenty of business out there – I’ve checked online.”
Ed agrees that it is a good idea, but draws her attention to the one problem – money;  they have no chance of getting a bank loan.   “Why do you have to be so negative?” she demands.
Julie appears rather taken with Wiliam
Julie invites Wiliam to come and sit with her on the Deri sofa, telling him how lovely it is that he has a daughter.   Diane points out that Arwen is Ffion’s daughter, so Julie asks, “Where is Ffion?”   Diane is surprised that Hywel has not told her.
Iolo is rather concerned about . . .
When Iolo comes in, he is not exactly pleased to see
. . . her hand on Wiliam's knee
Wiliam with Julie’s hand on his leg.   Julie suggests they could all go on to Swansea;  she tells Wiliam, “You could sit in the back seat of the taxi, between me and Diane!”   Wiliam regrets that he cannot , as he has an early shift tomorrow, and when she learns he is a police officer, she adds,
"You know I love a man in uniform!"
“You know I love a man in uniform!”
Iolo is glad to see the back of her
When at last Julie and Diane leave to go to Llwyncelyn, Iolo tells Wiliam, “Thank goodness for that!   I took a day off to spend with you, not two silly chatterboxes!”
DJ brings Cadno flowers . . .
DJ brings flowers for Cadno, and apologises;  “I’m really worried about prison,
. . . and puts his hand on her shoulder
“but you’re the last person I want to upset.   I’d better get on with my work – I’ve wasted enough time today.”
Gemma tells Ed that she has been reading about depression, but does not want to talk about it.
"I just don't want you to get hurt"
“You and DJ looked close in the café,” he remarks, and when she says that they are friends, he continues, “I think you both want more than that.   I just don’t want you to get hurt,” but Gemma protests that she cannot stay single for ever.
"I hope you're not taking someone else's husband!"
Julie comments, “I hope you’re not taking someone else’s husband!” when she sees Anita putting bags into the back of a car, “You should be ashamed of yourself!”
"I'm going to scatter Meic's ashes in Anglesey!"
“I’m going with Gabriela to scatter Meic’s ashes in Anglesey;  it’s a long journey.   The trouble with you is that you open your mouth before engaging your brain!”
"You're drunk – you'd better come home"
Dai comes across and urges Diane to come back home as she is obviously drunk;  “If you hadn’t got drunk with Anita, none of this would have happened!” she retorts.
"I'm afraid DJ fancies me"
Eifion sees the flowers and asks if it is Marian’s birthday.   Cadno suspects that DJ fancies her, and Eifion concludes,
"It makes sense"
“I hadn’t thought of that – it makes sense.”
"Which bottle looks most expensive?"
At Llwyncelyn, Diane is selecting which bottle of wine they will sample first;  “Hywel will kill us!” she squeals, but Julie reassures her that she can twist Hywel round her little finger.
“Anita has never forgiven me for going out with Dwayne, although I was old enough to be his mother!” recalls Julie.
"What's-her-name? – Nansi Furlong!"
Then she says, “Anita is going to Anglesey – do you have the number of what’s-her-name?   Nansi Furlong?   I bet she could give Anita a welcoming party!”
She dials the number, hands the phone to Diane, who says,
"Hello, Nansi!"
“Hello, Nansi, Diane Ashurst here.”
