25 August 2015

The café is up for sale
Tomos ac Ellis employees have erected a “For Sale” sign on the café, and Debbie looks up at it;
"You haven't thought this through"
when Mark sees the sign, he tells Debbie that she has not thought this through.   “Once my mind is made up, I go for it!” she insists, “I’m moving nearer to Vicky – there’s plenty of work in London, and I’ll have plenty of money when I sell this place.
"There's nothing here for me"
“There’s nothing here for me – no-one will miss me.”
Mark asks her, “What about Ricky?   You’re turning your back on him, after saying you want to see more of him.   He needs his mother.”
"How could you?"
Anita comes into the café with Kelly;  “How could you?” demands Anita, “Meic’s ashes aren’t even scattered, and you’re out to fill your pockets!”   When Debbie says it is for “personal reasons, Anita blames Mark for putting the idea into her head.
Kelly loudly puts her case
Then Kelly has her four-penn’orth;  “She’s trying to come to terms with Meic’s death, and you slap her across the face!”   Anita points out that Meic gave Debbie the café out of kindness, and that she should be ashamed of herself.
"Don't come pointing the finger at me!"
Debbie counters with, “Meic wouldn’t be thrilled about the way you treated Gabriella!   So don’t come pointing the finger at me!”
Dani tells them of Garry's fantasy . . .
Ffion and Gethin are at breakfast as Dani tells them about Garry’s allegations of tampering, and pleads with Gethin,
. . . and asks for Gethin's help
“I need your help to prove it was an accident.   I want Garry to show you how he fixed Iolo’s van;  watch him in action and if he makes a mistake, you’ll spot it!”
Anita and Kelly go to Mark’s to see Gabriella;
"Where even the babies wear knuckle-dusters!"
Kelly explains, “I’m the bodyguard – this is Maes-y-Deri where even the babies wear knuckle-dusters!”
Meic's famous pie recipe
Anita has found an old recipe for Meic’s famous pies, which has been in the family for years.
Gabriella is delighted;  “Anglesey Pie – he said he’d show me how to make them, but never had the chance.”   Anita has brought all the ingredients and quotes Nain Gwalchmai as saying, “If your hands are too warm, you have no hope of a perfect crust.”
"Kidneys, like?"
As they make a start on the cookery, Kelly notices one of the ingredients;  “Kidneys, like?   I’m going before I’m sick!”
"They say she's got debts"
In the café, Dai speaks conspiritorially to Colin and DJ;  “They says she’s got debts – that’s why she’s selling up.”   This puzzles Colin, as Debbie was given the café by Meic.
Dai proposes stirring up trouble . . .
Dai continues, “What if Kevin, Darren and Gabriella started complaining that they want their share?”
. . . but DJ advises against it
DJ advises Uncle David to keep his nose out.
Colin does not like all this talk about death
Colin is again nervous and urges them not to talk about death;  Dai notices that the watch has stopped.
"Perhaps Meic is trying to send you a message"
A voice from behind him suggests, “Perhaps Meic is trying to send you a message.”   Dai maintains that if his ghost was going to haunt anyone, it would be Colin, who has not opened his message yet.
Colin tries to persuade himself that ghosts do no exist
Colin unconvincingly argues that there are no such things as ghosts, but Gwyneth comes over and tells them, “Don’t be scared of the dead – you can take comfort by contacting them.”
"Paranormal gibberish!"
Dai objects to her spouting paranormal gibberish, but she suggests, “Holding a séance would give you peace of mind,” and Colin looks scared.
Dani has a plan;  Siôn has Chicken Salad
Dani goes to the Deri, where Siôn is adding Chicken Salad to the specials board;  Britt says that she has been expecting Garry to come and apologise, but Dani advises they keep out of his way, as she is handling this.   She asks Siôn, “Make sure that Iolo’s van is in the garage in an hour,”
"Just do as I say!"
and when he asks why, she replies, “Just do as I say!”
"Meic's death is troubling you all"
In a darkened café flat, with the obligatory candles, Dai, Gwyneth, Colin and Debbie are seated around the table.   Gwyneth tells them, “Meic’s death is troubling you all, but there is no need to worry.”
Colin asks, “Why did he have to die so far from home?”
“Perhaps that is why his spirit is restless – he wants to come home,” says Gwyneth,
"I hope he'll come and wind up this watch!"
and Dai comments that he hopes he will wind up his watch.
Gwyneth tells them, “Let’s all meditate and focus on Meic,” but Debbie has had enough and accuses Gwyneth of enjoying scaring them;  she walks out.
"I'm only here to see Lampeter fill his pants!"
Dai describes the whole thing as, “Poppycock!   I’m only here to see Lampeter fill his pants!”   Colin would like to tell Meic how much he misses him.   They hold hands and start again.
The Anglesey Pie goes into the oven
When Anita bemoans the fact that she cannot imagine the place where Meic was, Gabriella shows her pictures on her iPad.
"He liked relaxing under this tree"
“He liked relaxing under that tree – that will always be Meic’s tree to me,” she says.
"I'd love to go and sit under it!"
When Anita says she would love to go and sit under it, Gabriella tells her that there is nothing stopping her now.
"People think I'm disrespecting Meic"
Outside, looking up at the sign, Debbie tells Mark, “People think I’m disrespecting Meic,” and he answers that she should not do anything hasty.
DJ, who is just getting on his bike, suggests they should go to the séance upstairs and ask for Meic’s opinion – and also next week’s lottery numbers.
DJ waves to Mark
He rides off, and waves to Mark.
The séance is deathly quiet, so Dai silently reaches under the table and gives two loud knocks.
The séance breaks up and Debbie ejects them
Colin is startled, then Debbie marches in and tells them to get out;  “Not a word to anyone – I’m ashamed of myself!”
When Gwyneth states that Meic is not angry with anyone, but content, Dai protests, “I didn’t hear him say that!”
Debbie demands, “Have you contacted Brandon, then?”
"Yes – and Brandon's forgiven me"
Gwyneth replies, “Yes, if you must know, and he’s forgiven me – it’s a shame other people won’t!”   As Debbie ushers them out, Dai comments, “Yes, Colin needs to change his nappy!”
Garry has a welcoming committee
Garry arrives at the garage to find Iolo’s van there, together with Dani and Gethin, who asks,
"Show us what you did"
“Show us what you did on the day of the accident.”   After first refusing, and being admonished by Dani, who tells him his stupid paranoia has to stop, he repeats his accusation, “I know Siôn is to blame!”
Gethin insists, “We have to find out once and for all whether this was your mistake, or if a nutter tried to kill you!”
"I put the van up on ramps . . ."
Garry recounts, “I put the van up on ramps, used the jack to hold the engine, and went under the van.   There’s nothing wrong with my memory!”
"No wonder it fell on top of you!"
Gethin replies, “Why was the jack holding the engine when you loosened the gearbox?   No wonder it fell on top of you!”
"Health and Safety say you were negligent!"
Dani, who has just taken a phone call from Health and Safety, gives their verdict;  “You were negligent, that’s the only explanation - you’re no mechanic!   You’re lucky to be alive – from now on, stick to selling cars and leave the dirty work to the mechanics.”
Garry does not like being wrong
Garry sheepishly realises she is correct, and is speechless.
"This is Meic's room"
Gabriella shows Anita more pictures, one of Meic’s room, and Anita is eager to go to Patagonia as soon as possible,
Anita does not want to go with Gabriella
but seems reluctant to go with Gabriella.
"I've got orders to apologise!"
Garry comes into the Deri with Dani and Gethin, and tells Siôn and Britt, “I’ve got orders to apologise!”
Gethin explains what happened
Gethin explains how he propped up the engine instead of the gearbox, and Britt wonders how he could be so careless.
"Thank you, Siôn, for calling the ambulance"
Dani is pleased that it is all over, and again thanks Siôn for calling the ambulance;  “Anyone would have done the same,” he replies.
Garry addresses Siôn;  “I hope we understand each other,” and they shake hands,
Siôn does not look relieved . . .
but Siôn is far from relieved.
. . . but instead rather troubled
He goes out from the bar and bangs his head on the staircase.
"It's complicated!"
He tells Britt, “It’s complicated!”
"You didn't try to kill him, did you?"
She is puzzled, and asks, “You didn’t try to kill him, did you?   Answer me!”
"It would have solved our financial problems"
Siôn admits that he was tempted not to save him – to leave him to die and to solve their financial problems.
“You’ve got every right to be angry with me.   I’ve led us into a very dark place, and I don’t know if there’s a way out.”   Britt stresses that he did save Garry, and that is what really matters.
"Not a word to Garry, mind!"
Siôn hugs her, saying, “I don’t deserve you!”   Britt warns him not to let Garry know what went through his mind.
A picnic sounds good to Ffion
Ffion has arrived, and Gethin suggests going for a picnic, by the bridge at Cwrtmynach;  she will go and collect Arwen, while he makes the food.
"A good picnic needs pork pies!"
“The best way not to think of alcohol is to enjoy myself, and I can do that with you, smiles Ffion, adding, “Don’t forget, a good picnic needs pork pies!”
The Anglesey Pie comes out of the oven
As Anita gets the Anglesey Pie out of the oven, Gabriella has planned an itinerary, via Madrid and Buenos Aires.   Anita does not want Gabriella accompanying her, and says,
"I like making my own arrangements"
“The fact is, I like making my own arrangements, then I can’t blame anyone else if things go wrong.   There’s no need to buy the tickets now.”
She pretends to look at the iPad . . .
She takes the iPad to look at the flights,
. . . but, unnoticed, removes Gabriella's passport
and while her back is turned, removes Gabriella’s passport from her bag, secreting it in her own.
