| Is this new addition to the menu going to catch on? |
Then Siôn heads to the café, where Debbie is promoting her latest delicacy, inspired by Vicky’s pregnant cravings; she asks Siôn what “syrup” is in Welsh. Having just returned from visiting Vicky in London, she enquires about, “The latest gossip.”
![]() |
| "You think what has happened is gossip?" |
Siôn angrily retorts, “You think what has happened is gossip? You have no idea how much we’re suffering! It was an accident, and no-one could have prevented it!” Debbie looks rather taken aback by this outburst.

| Dani is fearing the worst . . . |
Meanwhile, Dani is by the bedside of Garry,

![]() |
| The doctor cannot promise anything |
“We’re trying to wake Garry up from the coma today. Things are not black and white, but tests show there is no permanent damage. We hope that he will be able to talk, but there is no certainty, as he has suffered a serious accident.”
He urges Dani to go home and get some rest, but she insists that she is staying; as he leaves, she mutters, “Years in college, but he couldn’t give me a straight answer to one question!”

| "They're trying to wake Garry" |
Britt is very worried, despite hearing from Dani that the hospital are trying to wake Garry,
![]() |
| "We have to be positive" |
and Siôn tries to encourage her to be positive. She says, “It will be a lot better when I can go and see him, but I have to go to the garage for the Health and Safety Inspection.”
Mark delivers the Deri post, and enquires about Garry, adding,
![]() |
| "If it were not for Siôn, who knows where he'd be?" |
“If it were not for Siôn phoning for the ambulance, who knows where he’d be?” It is obvious that Siôn does not share this sentiment.

| The holidaymakers are back from Cardigan |
Ffion, Gethin and Arwen are back from their holiday, and are in a very good humour, until they hear the message left by Dani on the answering machine. “Gethin, why won’t you answer! I tried your mobile – and Ffion’s. There’s been an accident – Garry’s in hospital, in a coma! Phone me back!”
Gethin needs to go and find Dani, and asks Ffion if she will be all right on her own.
![]() |
| "You take my purse" |
She insists that she will be, and hands over her purse; “Now I can’t get a drink even if I want to,” she tells him.
![]() |

In the café, Debbie is going on about her visit to London to anyone who will listen, and Eileen, who does not want to.
![]() |
| . . . and Mark does not want to stop and chat |
When Mark delivers there, she wants to tell him all about it, but he is in a hurry to finish his round; however he does agree to a quick cuppa.
![]() |
| "Are you praying?" |
When Britt and Dani come into the Deri, they see Siôn behind the bar with his head bowed; “Are you praying?” asks Dani, “Can I join you?” Britt dismisses this and leaves them.
![]() |
| "We are praying today for our brother Garry" |
“God our Father,” intones Siôn, “We are praying today for our brother Garry,” but he gets no further as Gethin bursts in, full of apologies that he only just received Dani’s message.
![]() |
| "It's your fault he's in hospital!" |
“It’s your fault he’s in hospital!” Dani tells him, and when he insists that Ffion had to get away for some peace, she continues, “I needed you, and you chose Ffion before your own family!”
![]() |
| Gethin has problems |
She turns away from Gethin as Siôn resumes, “Lord, we asks that You forgive our sins, and see the good in us.”
After putting clothes into the washing machine, Ffion asks Arwen, “What do you want for lunch today? Spaghetti hoops?”
![]() |
| Spaghetti Hoops? "Yeah!" |
Arwen enthusiastically replies, “Yeah!” and

| Desperate search for alcohol |
Ffion looks longingly into the cupboards,

| "I've got my eye on you!" |
while Arwen keeps a careful eye on her.
![]() |
| Just what she needs – Chester fighting! |
Before she can leave for the hospital, Britt has a phone call, reporting that Chester has been in a fight at the football club; as Dani is eager to get back to Garry, Siôn says he will sort the matter out.
![]() |
| Good news from the hospital |
As they are about to go, Dani has a call from the hospital; “He’s awake!” she shouts jubilantly.
Ffion has put Arwen in her room and is methodically searching through drawers and cupboards; her mobile rings,

| Ffion ignores Gethin's call |
but when she sees it is Gethin, she rejects the call and continues her search.

Ricky has been summoned to the café by text,
![]() |
| "What's so important, then?" |

![]() |
| Gwen is more than capable of running the café |
When he has gone, Debbie tells Gwen, “You’ll have to cope on your own – I’ve got a cake to make.”
![]() |
| Garry's eyes open |
Garry mumbles incoherently, and the doctor tells him that he is in hospital, having had an accident, but everything is fine.
![]() |
| He does not appear to recognise Dani |
He advises those standing round the bed, “This is natural – he’ll be very sleepy, but there is no permanent damage. He has been through a traumatic experience and will need a lot of care.”
![]() |
| "Aargh!" He is in a lot of pain |
Garry tries to move and winces in pain.
![]() |
| "Sorry, Arwen" |
Ffion is sitting on the floor with Arwen, and with tears in her eyes, says, “Sorry!”
![]() |
| "Is this anything to do with Garry?" |
Chester arrives home with Siôn, who asks, “Is this anything to do with Garry? I know you’re worried, but you can’t blame your friends.”
![]() |
| "What if Garry dies?" |
“Who am I supposed to blame?” demands Chester, “What if Garry dies? That’s what happened to Dad, and Brandon.” Siôn explains that Garry has woken from the coma, but might not be the same Garry, after physical and mental injuries. “Who would look after his family if he can’t?” asks Chester, and when Siôn assures him that he will,
![]() |
| The Monks and Whites behave differently |
Chester continues, “The Monks and the Whites don’t deal with things in the same way! I’m going to phone Mam.”
Ricky is lounging on the sofa at Maes-y-Deri when he remembers that he is supposed to be at Mam’s.
![]() |
| "She's in one of her bonkers moods!" |
“She’s in one of her bonkers moods! How does it feel to have a normal mother?” Mark tells him she wants to show him photos of her visit to London, but Ricky is less than keen; “I know what Vicky and Big Ben look like!” Mark warns him to text his mother, as he does not want her shouting and screaming.
![]() |
| Debbie's culinary triumph |
Meanwhile, Debbie has made a rather impressive cake and is waiting impatiently for Ricky’s arrival.

| Ffion reads Cinderella to Arwen |
Ffion reads to Arwen, “The ugly sisters said, ‘You can’t come to the party – you have to stay at home and clean the house’,” as Gethin returns to them. He tells Ffion, “You look . . .”
![]() |
| "Sober?" |
and Ffion suggests, “Sober?” to which he replies, “No, lovely!” and kisses her. He tells her that Garry is recovering, and she announces there is a casserole for dinner. As he hands back her purse, she says she would prefer him to keep it, just for now.
Debbie paces up and down, is unable to contact Ricky,
![]() |
| Debbie chats to Vicky |
so phones Vicky to tell her everyone was pleased to see her back in Cwmderi, and that she has put the unconventional pancakes on the café menu.
Britt arrives home and emotionally announces that Garry is going to be all right;

| Chester's mind is put at rest |
this is a great relief to Chester, who hugs Siôn and promises to apologise to the boy whom he hit.
![]() |
| "We're so lucky to have you!" |
Thank you for saving Garry’s life!” Britt tells Siôn, “We’re so lucky to have you! Garry wants you to go and see him – he wouldn’t be here without you.”
![]() |
| "Ooh-er! Garry wants to see me?" |
Now Siôn looks decidedly worried.
