Gwyneth thought she did not stand a chance

Gwyneth is surprised when Dai comes to tell her she has the APD job, and delivers her uniform.   

"Keep it quiet!"

She is to start at 8:00am on Monday, but is warned to keep quiet about it, as Diane has not been told the good news.  

Gethin hesitates outside the door . . .

Gethin hesitates at the door of number 10, then knocks;  when Kelly sees him, she tries to slam the door, but he admits, 

. . . then admits everything to Kelly

“I was me – I phoned!   I wanted to ruin their chances.   I did have an affair with Ffion just after Christmas.”

He had unrealistic expectations . . .

Kelly is furious to hear this, but he continues, “I thought we’d be together, that she’d leave Jinx and run away with me, but what did she do?   She stuck with him and went ahead with the adoption!”

. . . and Kelly wastes no time in giving her opinion

Kelly shouts at him, “You can’t think much of Ffion if you did this to her and Jinx!   He deserves a chance, after the life he’s had!   Most of us move on instead of becoming bitter and twisted!   If Ffion means anything to you, you’ll phone the people and tell them you made a mistake.”   She picks up the phone, but Gethin grabs it and throws it to the floor.

Sheryl window-cleaning

As Sheryl is cleaning the salon windows, Hywel stands nearby and tells Gaynor, “I won’t sign these papers if there is a mention of Sheryl in them!”   

"Well, you had the affair!"

Gaynor insists that his affair came between them, but he is of the opinion that it was “on a downward spiral” before then.   Sheryl interrupts to say, “I don’t mind being named if we can be together as soon as possible,” and Gaynor is eager to be free, so she can start again.

"Ooh, my stomach is in knots!"

Just then, Dani arrives and announces that she will not be at the salon, as she is ill;  “My stomach is in knots, and I don’t want you to catch anything.”   

"Get those papers in the post tonight!"

As Gaynor walks away, she instructs Hywel, “Make sure the papers are in the post tonight!”

Ed and Sioned come out of the Deri, on the way to the café, but Sioned is selfconscious about the state of her nose;  

"Your nose looks exactly the same!"

this is not improved when Colin, delivering vegetables for Anita, remarks, “I can’t believe you spent so much – it looks exactly the same!”   At this, she stalks back into the Deri.

"Sioned is not working for you again!"

Ed sees Garry come out of his flat, and goes across the road;  Garry comments, “Give Sioned a couple of weeks and she’ll be able to start working again.”   Ed insists that she will never be working for him again, and adds, “If I hear you’re still stealing, I’ll phone the police!”

"I'm shaking in my boots!"

“I’m shaking in my boots!” says Garry, and gets into his car, laughing.

Sione says she is off to Carmarthen

When Ed gets back inside the Deri, Sioned has fetched her coat and announces that she is off to Carmarthen.   Ed is about to follow her, but meets Hywel, who wants to talk Rugby;

by the time he gets outside, he sees the passenger door of Garry’s car close, and its drives away.   Ed rushes to his car to follow.

Kelly is not receptive to Gethin's tale of woe

Gethin tells Kelly, “You have no idea of the hell I’ve been through, and how much Ffion helped me.”   Kelly is unimpressed;  “Put away the violin – it doesn’t work with me!” she says.   

"My own father abused me!"

He tells her that he was abused by his own father, but she replies, 

"So you want to destroy another child's life?"

“Is that why you want to destroy another child’s life?   That’s what you’re doing – stopping a child being happy with Jinx and Ffion.   Can you live with that?”

Handing him the phone, she tells him, “Now be a good boy, phone and tell them you made a mistake.”   

Kelly keeps a careful eye on him

With Kelly standing over him, he dials, and says, “Hello, Mali Rees?   I want to withdraw the accusation made against Ffion Llywelyn.”

Gwyneth models her APD uniform

Gemma arrives at Gwyneth’s, and is concerned to see her wearing the APD fleece.   Gemma immediately asks, “What about Gwern while you’re working?”

“Don’t pretend you care – you’re only jealous,” replies Gwyneth, “It’s better than your job, and I shall meet people.”

"My company's not good enough now?"

Gemma moans, “My company is not good enough now, is it?   Make the most of your new found confidence – it won’t last!”

My guess is somewhere around Llanelli or the Gower

Two cars drive along a seafront (possible the Gower) and park outside a pub, with Ed keeping his distance.   

Dani is an old hand at this stealing lark

Dani puts on sunglasses, and Garry tells her she can call it off now, but she insists, “I have stolen before, all right?” before leaving the car and walking to the pub.

Ed watches her go.

When Colin next sees Sioned in the Deri, he asks where the bruises have gone;  she answers, “It’s called makeup.   I’m not hiding from you or anyone else!”   

"Come on, Hywel, get these filled in!"

Hywel, hoping for a quiet drink, is discovered by Sheryl, who brings the papers to be signed;  “Not in the pub!” he says angrily, “If you’ve any sense, you’ll come home with me now.”

"I can't see any future there"

When he has left, Colin remarks to Sheryl, “Well, well, that’s the second time this week I’ve heard you bickering,” and tells Gaynor that he does not see any future there.   

"Hywel is like a flea!"

Dai’s perspicacious comment is, “Hywel is like a flea – doesn’t stay with anyone long!”  

Gemma gets at Gwyneth, again

Gemma tells Gwyneth, “It’s a shame when things fall apart, but that’s what happens when people stop being honest with each other.”   Gwyneth replies that she is not turning down the job offer, 

"You're supposed to be keeping quiet!"

and Dai admonishes her for not keeping quiet about it.

Dani, the con-artist, at work

Dani is chatting up her target at the pub, and when he goes to fetch some drinks, she feels in his jacket pockets;  then Ed joins her, asking, “Looking for the keys?   I followed you and I know what’s going on.   Can’t you see what Garry’s doing to you?   You could end up in prison!”

Her target returns to find Ed there

Dani begs him to go, and when her target returns, Ed tells Dani, “Nice to see you again!”

He returns to his car and looks very pointedly across at Garry.

Kelly has diagnosed Gethin's problem

Kelly goes to see Gethin at number 7, and tells him that she can see that because of his history with his father, he is looking for a “surrogate parent”.   “You see Ffion as a strong person who has her life sorted, and you want that.   You’re a typical ‘little boy lost’ and you want a comforting cwtch.   Well, that’s not going to happen here!   You’re not going to wreck Jinx’s and Arwen’s lives for a cwtch!”   

"Get out of my house and my life!"

Gethin orders her out of the house, but then relents;  

Then he changes his mind

“I don’t want to be on my own,” he whines.

"There you are – job done"

Dani returns to Garry’s car and hands over the keys to the target vehicle, but he is not sure about continuing;  “Ed could ruin it for us,” he says.   Dani assures him that if Ed was going to do anything, we would have done so by now, and she goes back to her “mark”.   “See you later,” she tells him.

At the salon, Sheryl is starting to think Hywel does not want a divorce, 

Hywel is afraid he will lose money

but he explains, “If I sign the papers, I admit it’s my fault – and all the money I’ve earned goes to her!”

Unsettling news for Sheryl

Then Sheryl has a phone call, asking her to attend an appointment with a consultant on Tuesday;  “It must be something serious,” she concludes, “You don’t get called to see a consultant for minor problems.”   

Hywel tries to reassure her

Hywel hugs her.

So this is the car that all the fuss is about – a Maserati!

As Garry heads for the target car, SS55ALL, Ed joins him;  “Steal that car and I phone the police!” he threatens.   Garry is not to be swayed;  

"I shall tell them about Sioned"

“You had better phone Sioned and tell her to run away and hide.   If I’m arrested, I shall tell them about the rôle she played.   Now be a good boy and get out of the way!”   

Garry accelerates away in the stolen car

Ed moves aside as Garry drives the car from the car park.

Gethin tells Kelly that he needs to stand up like a man;  

Gethin has resolved what he will do

“I’m going to do what I planned to do last week – go to Cysgod y Glyn and tell Jinx everything.   I’m not going to sit back and do nothing!   I know how to make Ffion happy, not Jinx!”

"Your brain is seriously warped!"

Kelly protests, “Your brain is seriously warped!   Grow up!”   Gethin has worked out that when Jinx’s heart is broken, he will turn to Kelly for comfort.

"It's the ideal opportunity for both of us!"

“It’s the ideal opportunity for both of us to be with who we want.   There will be tears, but it will be worth it;  we will both have a fresh start with the people we love.   I get a cwtch, you get your man!”
