14 May 2015

Opening time at the café
Debbie comes downstairs in the café, turns round the “OPEN” sign on the door and picks up the post;
A card from Meic, featuring penguins
she is disappointed to find that there is only one card, from Meic.
Gwen says, "Happy Birthday, Debs!"
Then Gwen arrives and wishes her, “Happy Birthday, Debs!”
In the salon, Hywel asks Sheryl, “Are you sure you should be working?   You ought to stop until the baby arrives.”
"I have to consider what's best for me"
“If it arrives,” replies Sheryl, “I have to consider what’s best for me,” but Hywel tells her this is more than just her.   When Dani comes in and Hywel leaves, Sheryl tells her that things are getting worse.
Oh dear, burnt to a cinder . . .
Angela is most put out when she finds that the birthday cake is burnt,  but Eifion cannot understand why all the fuss about being 45.
. . . so hard you cannot get a knife into it
Angela tells Courtney she cannot give her a lift to the cinema after school, and  Eifion agrees to do it instead.
Gaynor says she is enjoying being single
Gaynor tells Eileen in the shop, “I’m beginning to enjoy being single again, but fed up with asking Hywel to sign the papers.”
Ffion tells her of Sheryl's problems
Ffion points out that he has a lot on his mind, with things not looking good for Sheryl;  “There are problems with her heart, and I think it’s serious.”
Angela comes in and invites the three of them to Debbie’s party, as she is afraid that hardly anyone will be there.
"Why haven't you signed the papers?"
When Gaynor gets home, Hywel follows her in;  she is rather abrupt with him, asking, “Is there any reason you haven’t signed the papers?”
"I had some bad news yesterday"
“Don’t give me the third degree now!   I had some bad news yesterday.”   Gaynor tells him she is too busy to sit and discuss it with him;  if he has anything to talk about, he should talk about it with Sheryl.   He reluctantly leaves.
"A change of plan"
In the Deri, Mark is on his phone, telling someone that there is a change of plan and that Debbie is having a party.   On hearing about the party, Kelly is not keen,
Sioned is in favour of free drinks
but Sioned insists that there will be free drinks.   Anita reports that the buffet is all ready, and Gethin tells Mark that he was told the party was “women-only”,
"We'll see about that!"
but Mark replies, “We’ll see about that!”
Sheryl, doing some cleaning
When Hywel finds Sheryl cleaning, he maintains that Dani ought to be doing that.   Sheryl tells him she let Dani go early, as she has a night out.
Rhys thinks he is responsible
Then Rhys comes in, having been told by Gaynor that Sheryl was ill, and worrying that he was responsible, as he hit her weeks ago.
“Gaynor didn’t tell me she knew when I called at Llwyncelyn earlier,” says Hywel,
"Have you been to Llwyncelyn again?"
and Sheryl expresses displeasure that he has been there again.   “It’s nice to talk to someone – you won’t talk to me!” he says, and she walks out in disgust, as Rhys shakes his head.
"The children have forgotten"
Angela is hanging up photos of Debbie around the café flat, while Debbie bemoans the fact that even her own children have forgotten her birthday.
Sioned is in an argumentative mood
But soon the guests begin to arrive – Diane, Anita, Ffion, Gwen, Sioned, Dani and Kelly.   Debbie reckons that these last three are only there for the free drinks.
There is only one reason why Gethin is here . . .
Next, Gethin arrives, ostensibly to complain about the noise, so Debbie gives him a bottle and tells him to sit quietly in the corner;  “The stripper can’t come, so you can entertain us later,” she jokes.
. . . but Kelly stops him getting to Ffion
When Gethin heads across the room towards Ffion, he is intercepted by Kelly;  “Don’t you dare!” she snarls.
Courtney arrives at the Showcase Cinema at Nantgarw
Eifion’s red car pulls up outside the Showcase Cinema (at Nantgarw) and Courtney gets out;
Look who Eifion sees arriving
as he drives away, he sees Rhys arriving in his new car, and looks very disapproving.
"You got a date as well?"
Later, as Courtney waits for her friend to arrive, Rhys sees her
He has found a rather well-built girlfriend
and then meets a rather buxom blonde, who accompanies him into the cinema.
"Ricky, I'm standing here like a lemon!"
Courtney gets out her phone;  “Ricky, where are you?   I’m standing here like a lemon, waiting for you!”
Debbie tells her troubles to Diane, who is knocking them back
At the party, Debbie is complaining that the children have forgotten about her,
"Is Jinx babysitting?"
and Kelly comments to Ffion, “Is Jinx babysitting?” to which Ffion replies, “A father doesn’t babysit!”
When Mark arrives, Debbie rudely tells him he is not invited,
Debbie cheers up when Vicky arrives
but she changes her tune when Vicky, her pregnant daughter, comes into the room.
Sioned, who has been making rude remarks about the photos and other things, is ordered out by Debbie;  Sioned is unconcerned, saying, “Our taxi to Swansea will be here in a minute.”
Gethin has a one-track mind
Again, Gethin looks meaningfully across at Ffion.
"Why should I feel sorry for her?"
As Hywel drinks alone in the Deri, Gaynor comes in;  “Why didn’t you tell me you knew about Sheryl?” he asks her.   Gaynor replies that it is not her business, and why should she feel sorry for the woman who stole her husband.
"I'm not having an abortion"
Sheryl is the next to arrive, and when she informs Hywel that she has decided not to have an abortion, he is overjoyed and hugs her.
Vicky tells Debbie that she is just scared of becoming a grandmother, and Eileen assures her that she will enjoy every minute with the little one, “Just as I do with Courtney.”
Diane cannot hold her drink these days
Diane, who is becoming more and more drunk, moans that she never sees Anita these days.
"I don't have a husband to keep me"
“That’s because I’m busy working all day – I don’t have a husband to keep me!” Anita tells her.
"I heard the good news about the adoption"
Gethin manages to “bump into” Ffion, and tells her, “I heard the good news about the adoption – I’m pleased for you both.”   Ffion simply walks away from him.
"What about Rhys?   Was he cool too?"
At home, Eifion hears Courtney come in, and asks how it went.   When Courtney describes the film as “cool”, he asks, “What about Rhys?   Was he cool too?   I saw him get out of his car as I left – no wonder you didn’t want a lift home!”
"You're worse than Mam!"
Courtney is angry;  “You’re worse than Mam!   Pretending to be a friend and doing this to me!”   Angela has returned by this time, and Eifion tells her the same story, about Courtney meeting Rhys at the cinema and telling lies.
"No, she was with Ricky!"
“No, she was with Ricky!” answers Angela, “Mark left early to fetch them.”   When Eifion insists that he saw Rhys in the car park, Angela points out, “I saw you having a pint with Diane the other day – that doesn’t mean you’re sleeping together, does it?”
"That's you told!"
Courtney looks rather pleased at Eifion’s discomfiture.
Diane is in a inebriated state, and is desperate for a loo!
Anita returns home, together with Ffion supporting Diane, who can hardly walk, but who insists, “I’ve got to go upstairs – I’m bursting!”
"Sorry for coming over here like a mad woman!"
As she staggers up the stairs, Ffion apologises for, “Coming over here like a mad woman last week.”
"Just friends, nothing more"
She states that she and Gethin are friends and nothing more.
Anita give Ffion the benefit of her experience
Anita’s advice is, “I’ve been friends with several men, laughed with them, cried with them, made a fool of myself with Moc and wasted precious time with Meic.   Don’t get tempted to make the same mistakes I did!”
"You're too young to have a baby"
Debbie asks Vicky, “Are you sure you’re not too young to have a baby?” but Vicky replies she is not as young as Debbie was when she had Liam.
“Ryan has a good job, we’ve been together for ages, and we’re going to get married after this little one is born.”
Ricky and Mark return from the cinema
Mark and Ricky come in and Mark announces that Ricky has been on a date with Courtney.   “We could have a double wedding,” suggests Vicky.
Birthday greetings from Liam
Ricky remembers he had a text on his phone for Debbie;  “Happy Birthday Mam!” from Liam, and Debbie declares it the best birthday she ever had.
Nearly closing time at the Deri
As Ows rings the bell at the Deri and customers start to leave,
Ffion arrives, says nothing and is about to go . . .
Ffion comes in and finds Gethin at the bar;  after looking at him, she turns to go,
. . . but Gethin grabs her arm
but he grabs her arm.
"You hate me — or love me!"
“This is the second time you’ve run away from me tonight!” he says, “I’m starting to think you hate me . . . or love me, of course!”
"This has to stop!"
Ffion is adamant;  “This has to stop!”
He replies, “Yes.”   She turns and walks out of the Deri, while Gethin appears downcast.
