12 May 2015

"Don't forget, the appointment is at twelve!"
Hywel leaves for CwmFM and Sheryl reminds him that the appointment is for 12:00.   Dani and Garry come out of the café, and Dani tells him,
"Right, where's my money?"
“I’m still waiting for the money for helping you last week.   I’ve seen a designer handbag on the internet, and what’s the point of making money if you can’t spend it?   See you later – we can discuss the next job.”
"Enjoying your retirement?"
Diane, browsing in Megan’s shop, is asked how she is enjoying her retirement;  “I’m jealous of you,” says Megan, “but I don’t know what I would do with the spare time.   I work here to fill the lonely hours.”
Diane replies that she should get out more and enjoy herself;  “Go out for lunch,” she suggests, which Megan takes to be an invitation to lunch with Diane, much to Diane’s chagrin.
Megan mentions cheap meals for pensioners
“The Bull at Llanarthur does good meals for pensioners,” Megan tells her,
"I'm not that old!"
but Diane protests that she is not old enough for that.
"The adoption is back on track"
Hywel visits Jinx, who agrees to do his shift, and tells him that the adoption is back on track.   “It was a nightmare last week – I couldn’t have handled it without Ffion.   Just one more interview and we’ll have a child!”
"Somewhere I'd rather not go!"
When Jinx asks where he is going this afternoon, Hywel replies, “Somewhere I’d rather not go!”
Sheryl fears the worst
In the salon, Dani is telling Sheryl that doctors can work miracles, but Sheryl is less confident;  “There’s a lot they can’t do!”   Dani reminds her that she has Hywel, but Sheryl wonders, “Sometimes I think this is punishment for aborting the baby before,” but Dani assures her she had a very good reason.
Then Megan comes in for her appointment, and is surprised that Dani is to do her hair, as Sheryl is “ill”.
"A mohican haircut?"
Dani asks, “What style do you want – mohican?”
"I'm having an exclusive party!"
In the café, Debbie tells Colin she is having an exclusive party, and Angela is compiling the guest list, so he goes to chat her up.   When Diane comes in, she is dismissive of Debbie’s birthday;  “It’s not a big one!” but Colin reckons that every birthday is big when you pass 40.
"Isn't that the jailbird's job?"
Dai comes in for coffees, and Diane comments, “Isn’t that the jailbird’s job?”   When told that Gwyneth is busy on the computer with Jim, she adds, “Not doing the accounts, I hope!   I could come over and show you how to do it.”
"I don't want to spoil your retirement!"
Dai thanks her for the offer, but does not want to spoil her retirement.
"Won't you want these for the new child?"
Ffion takes some of Arwen’s outgrown clothes to Megan’s shop, and is dismayed that Megan has been told by Jinx about the adoption.
Ffion smiles, but is furious with Jinx
She tries to play down the whole thing;  “We don’t know when it will happen, and there may be more obstacles.”
Megan recalls when she adopted, years ago
“Are you getting cold feet?” asks Megan, and goes on about admiring her for giving a small child a home.   “I remember when my husband, Cliff, and I adopted Gareth Wyn, we worried that we would do everything wrong;  we had a lot of pleasure and some worries too.”
They sit, waiting . . .
Sheryl and Hywel are in the waiting room while her ECG results are evaluated,
. . . and Hywel's patience runs out
and Hywel is becoming impatient.
"It looks like Aortic Stenosis"
Then they are called in to the Consultant’s Office, where they are informed, “It looks like Aortic Stenosis, a pretty serious condition which puts pressure on the heart, especially as pregnancy progresses.”
"Will this affect the baby?"
Hywel’s concern is, “Will this affect the baby?” and the answer is that the situation needs to be watched carefully, and possibly the baby delivered early to avoid complications.   The Consultant tells them, “There is always a risk with this condition – a Valvoplasty operation is a short-term option, and there are others after the baby is born.”
"Could it kill me?"
Sheryl asks bluntly, “Could it kill me?”   They are told that with care and regular appointments, things should be fine,
Not what they wanted to hear
but both Sheryl and Hywel are stunned by the news.
Jinx gets a telling-off
Ffion tells Jinx, “I didn’t know where to look or what to say!   She’s the biggest gossip around – why did you share our secrets and tells her I’m having cold feet?”
"I only wanted to share my joy!"
Jinx insists he did not say that, he only wanted to share his joy, but Ffion is adamant, “It’s our business!”
“When the child arrives, are you going to hide it in the bedroom?” demands Jinx.
“You’re telling everyone to force me into it!” concludes Ffion, and when he promises not to tell anyone else, she adds, “It won’t make any difference now!”
A poor, half-hearted kiss
She kisses him, very half-heartedly, and returns to school.
"Should I have an abortion?"
As Sheryl leaves the consulting room, she turns and asks, “Should I have an abortion?”   The Consultant advises her not to do anything in haste, to read the literature and take her time before deciding anything.
"You weren't serious, were you?"
As soon as they shut the door behind them, Hywel bursts out, “You weren’t serious, were you?” and Sheryl nods her head.
"I envy you, lady of leisure"
In the Deri, Britt envies Diane’s situation, enjoying herself with no work and no rules.
"I can't wait to get to your age!"
Colin remarks, “I can’t wait to get to your age, Diane!” but she rebukes him, “Watch it!   I’m not much older than you.”   She does however think that she needs to start enjoying herself – with APD’s profits.
Sheryl sits alone
Sheryl returns alone to her flat, looks at the papers and sighs.
As Colin says that Debbie should not be concerned about her age, she reveals that there is something else;  “I’m going to be a grandmother!”
"I hope Ricky hasn't been a naughty boy!"
“I hope Ricky hasn’t been a naughty boy!” comments Colin, but she informs him that it is Vicky who is pregnant, and again complains that she is too young to be a grandmother.
"How did things go at the hospital?"
Garry comes in and joins Hywel, buying him a pint;  “How did things go at the hospital?   Dani said there are problems.”   Hywel is angry;  “So you buy me a pint to ask about Sheryl?   It’s none of your business – stuff your pint!”
Hywel broods about the situation
and he goes to sit and brood on the sofa.
"Hello, Diane!"
Dai arrives home, looking forward to his meal, and cannot find Diane;
"Eh?   Nothing cooking?"
there is no food in the oven either.
"It's chips or nothing!"
He is rather put out when Diane comes in with a box of chips and announces that is his dinner, as she has not had time to cook.   “Too busy boozing, judging by the smell,” says Dai,
"I've been slogging my guts out!"
“I’ve been slogging my guts out all day – the least you could do is cook dinner!”
"Let's get things straight!"
Diane lays down the law;  “Let’s get things straight!   I stopped working because my work was not good enough for you.   If you want more than chips, cook it yourself!   I’m not your maid!”
Ffion goes over to Hywel;  “You look as if you could do with some company,” she says,
Hywel tells Ffion his tale of woe
and he tells her about the complication with Sheryl’s heart.  “I’m worried she’ll get rid of the baby.   Why can’t things go right for us, like they have for you?   You have a child on the way, a child you both want.”
"I don't," admits Ffion
Ffion quietly says, “I don’t!” but Hywel reminds her that she has always wanted a houseful of children.   When Jinx joins them, Hywel comments, “It’s nice to discuss things sometimes,” and Ffion, under her breath, mutters, “Yes, it is.”
"It's not Hywel's decision!"
Sheryl explains her predicament to Dani;  “If I have an abortion, Hywel will never forgive me!”    Dani insists that it is not his decision,
"He's made so many sacrifices for this baby"
but Sheryl maintains that he has made so many sacrifices for this baby.

“I hope he is making the sacrifices for you!” Dani tells her, but Sheryl is unsure whether he wants her or the baby.
"If I want Hywel, I have to keep the baby!"
“I want Hywel – and if I want Hywel, I have to keep the baby!” she says;
Dani hugs her
Dani advises her not to do anything hasty, and hugs her.
