| With the adoption papers on the table, Ffion is in turmoil |
When Jinx gets up, Ffion is already sitting on the sofa,

| She cuddles Arwen's toy |
cuddling one of Arwen’s toys; she tells him, “My mind is in a tizzy – I was babbling nonsense at Debbie’s party.” Jinx tells her that she was late back last night, and that Arwen wondered where she was.

| As soon as Jinx sits down, she gets up |
He senses that she is troubled, but as soon as he sits down by her, she jumps up to get Arwen ready. “I’ll do that,” he assures her,

| "You don't know what you'd do without me, do you?" |
“You don’t know what you’d do without me, do you?”

| "I hope you behaved yourself!" |
As Kelly comes out of the café, she meets Gethin; “I hope you behaved after gatecrashing the party,” she tells him. He insists that he did not know that Ffion would be there, which does not convince Kelly; “Do you think I have ‘stupid’ tattooed on my forehead?”

| "You have a lot to gain if those two break up" |
“Why are you so desperate for me not to say anything?” Gethin demands, You have a lot to gain if those two break up.”

| "If Jinx found out I was part of your scheme . . ." |
Kelly emphasises, “If Jinx found out that I was part of your scheme, he would never forgive me!” She would rather have Jinx as a friend than nothing at all, and if Gethin feels anything for Ffion, he will do the same.

| "Little Miss Perfect" |
Then Kelly sees Ffion, and accuses her of, “Pretending to be Little Miss Perfect, while having an affair with Gethin? He told me all about it – don’t deny it, because I know too much. I won’t tell Jinx, as I don’t want to break his heart.”

| "I want Jinx to be happy" |
Ffion is adamant that all she wants is for Jinx to be happy. “You could have fooled me!” remarks Kelly.

| "Dad will have to eat it all!" |
Jinx gives Arwen her breakfast; “If you don’t want it, Dad will have to eat it all,” he tells her.
Then Ffion returns home unexpectedly, and as she stands in the doorway,

| "What's wrong? Tell me!" |
Jinx asks, “What’s the matter? Won’t the car start again? What’s wrong? Tell me!”

| "I'm so sorry, I can't do this! |
She says, apologetically, “I’m so sorry, I can’t do this! The closer we get, the more I realise it’s a mistake! I can’t have another child! I don’t want to adopt.” Jinx suspects she has been drinking, but she confesses she wants to adopt for all the wrong reasons.

Jinx picks up Arwen to take her to her room, as they must not talk in front of her, and Ffion says that they must talk – that is something they have needed to do for a long time.

She phones Gaynor to say she will not be at school, as she has, “A bug or something.”

| Gethin tries to make up his mind . . . |
Meanwhile, Gethin is debating with himself whether to phone Jinx, and looking out of the window;

he scrolls down to Jinx’s name, then changes his mind.

| "I've told you that I've changed my mind!" |
Ffion urges Jinx to stop behaving as if nothing is wrong; “I just told you that I’ve changed my mind about adoption!

| "I don't love you, Jinx!" |
“I know this is going to hurt you, but I don’t love you, Jinx!”

| Jinx cannot believe what he is hearing |
“Of course you do!” he protests, “You’re here for me each day, you’re my help and support!” Ffion tells him that is because she thinks the world of him, but that is not enough;

| "You're more like a brother to me" |
“You’re more like a brother to me than anything else, and that’s not what I want. My heart never skips a beat when you walk into the room.”

| "Why now?" |
Jinx is very troubled; “Why now – if you’ve always felt like this? We’re about to give a home to a child, something we’ve wanted for months!”

| "I trapped you!" |
Ffion pleads, “Don’t you see? I trapped you and made you believe you were Arwen’s father, when I knew that wasn’t true!” Jinx replies that when he found out, he stayed with her; “Doesn’t that count for anything?”
“It means that you’re more of a man than anyone I know, but you’re not the man I want. I was so afraid of losing what I have – family, love, security, but I’ve realised that honesty between us is more important.

“I’ve realised that I don’t love you, because I’ve fallen for someone else.”

| "Gethin!" |
Reluctantly, Jinx says, “Gethin! I asked you for a straight answer last week, but you denied it.” Ffion insists that she tried to stop it, that she did not want to hurt him, but she could not help it.

| "What has he got that I haven't?" |
When Jinx demands what is special about Gethin, she still admits,

| "You mean the world to me" |
“You mean the world to me, honestly; you’ve saved me so many times from the bottle and myself. If it weren’t for you, I would have ended up in the gutter - or worse. But I can’t stay with you out of gratitude – it’s not fair to you or me.”

| "Let's forget about this morning" |
Jinx begs her to simply forget about this morning and to pretend that all this never happened. “Do you expect me to just give up? You’ve just had a silly idea! People have stayed together through worse – we fought to save our relationship after we found we are related.

| "You just had a fling – I forgive you!" |
“You just had a fling – I forgive you! I’ve forgiven all sorts of other sins!”
However, Jinx admits that he knew that today was coming, and that he ends up with nothing. When told he has Arwen, he concludes,

| "The man who used to be with her mother" |
“The child I was tricked into bringing up! I shall be ‘the man who used to be with her mother’!”

| "I'll sleep in the spare room" |
Ffion does not want Arwen to be unsettled by anything sudden and suggests she will sleep in the spare room. “You want to live as brother and sister?” asks Jinx, “Well, we are cousins! You want a babysitter while you’re with Gethin?”

| "Hold me, and tell me you understand!" |
Ffion, in tears, begs him, “Hold me and tell me you understand!”

| A last hug |
They hug, and Jinx answers,

| "I think I understand" |
“I understand, at least I think I do; you want your own child – one with Gethin.” She denies this, maintaining that she only wants him to be happy. “I was happy,” sobs Jinx.

| "You can't go to work after what just happened!" |
Ffion picks up her coat, saying she is going to school, and she will phone at break time. “Don’t bother to phone – I’ll be all right,” Jinx tells her.

As Ffion walks round the corner, she looks back at the house.

Meanwhile, Jinx picks up the “Teulu” photo frame, then strides into the other room.

| Gethin is relaxing . . . |
As Gethin reclines on the sofa, he hears someone coming in through the back door;

| . . . when Ffion appears . . . |
he stands, open-mouthed, when he discovers it is Ffion.

| . . . this is too good to be true |
She tells him, “I’ve told Jinx that it’s all over; he said he’s known about it all along – but it doesn’t matter, because I’m free now.”
“To be with me?” enquires Gethin, and she agrees, if that is what he wants.

They kiss.
Jinx packs a few items into a bag, removes the photograph and throws the frame to the floor.

Outside, as he loads the car, Kelly comes to talk to him, but he has little to say, except, “Bye, Kel!”

He puts on his seatbelt, turns and looks at Arwen, who is smiling at him,

| Jinx and Arwen leave the village |
and drives away from the village.
