11 August 2015

Siôn has been on the sofa all night
Britt comes downstairs to find Siôn has been on the sofa all night, and assumes he is worried about Garry.
"It was such a relief"
“It was such a relief when Garry woke up, but I had always thought that Garry in hospital would be the result of someone getting revenge for drugs or money – not an accident in his own garage.”
Siôn assures her that there is no need to worry, and she hopes he will be out soon.
Garry has made up his mind . . .
Meanwhile, Garry is struggling into his own clothes, while a nurse and doctor try to persuade him that it is a bad idea.   “I’ve got every right to discharge myself,” insists Garry,
. . . and nothing will dissuade him
but the doctor urges him to stay another night, as he has has been under tremendous physical and emotional pressure.
“I’ll be more comfortable at home,” continues Garry,
"I have things to do"
and when a friend arrives to take him home, he shakes the doctor’s hand;  “It’s nice to meet you, and thanks for everything you’ve done, but I have things to do!”
"I haven't seen her since last week"
In the café, Diane and Mark are talking;  “I haven’t seen her since last week,” says Diane, but Mark insists she must go and check that Anita has finally decided not to go to Patagonia.
"It is Meic's last wish"
“It is Meic’s last wish, and in time Anita will be grateful,” he tells her.   Then Colin comes in, wearing one of his trademark gaudy shirts, and tells Debbie he cannot afford to go to the Deri with her tonight, as he is skint.
Mark reveals to Diane that he has heard from Gabriella that Meic has deteriorated, and can no longer get out of bed.
They clam up when Debbie approaches
Debbie comes over, asking what they are speaking about so secretively, and tells Mark that he must come over later, to talk about Ricky.   When he replies that he is busy, she snaps, “It’s important!”
"Why does he want to see me?"
When Siôn meets Dani in the street, he asks her why Garry wants to see him.
A car arrives . . .
Then they see a car pull up and Dani rushes over when she sees Garry getting out.
. . . and Dani shouts at Garry
“What are you doing here?” she demands, “You’re going back to hospital now!”
Garry appreciates what Siôn did
Garry emphasises that he is not going back, and shakes Siôn’s hand;  “Thank for everything you did – I don’t think everyone here would want to save me!”   He turns to Dani and tells her, “Come on, missus – you always wanted to be a nurse!” but she reminds him that was when she was five.   Siôn insists on carrying Garry’s bag.
"Paris?   That's a bit expensive!"
Wiliam is looking at the laptop;  “Paris?   That’s a bit expensive!”   Iolo, who has the laundry basket, tells him he wants to do it right, with posh hotel and snails in a Michelin restaurant.   Wiliam suggests Center Parcs or Bluestone, where children are welcome, and they could take Non with them.
"I'm happy with that"
“I’m happy with that,” replies Iolo, adding, “I’d be even happier if Colin emptied the washing machine,” as he removes the washing.   There is a coloured scarf amid the other garments;
"Has Colin got a girlfriend?"
“Has Colin got a girlfriend?   Whoever she is, she has no taste in scarves!” comments Iolo.
Debbie is being paranoid
When Mark goes to see Debbie, she demands, “What were you and Diane talking about in the café?   You stopped when I came over.”   Mark dismisses this as Debbie being paranoid.
She wants to change Ricky's arrangements
She continues, “I want Ricky’s arrangements to be more official – he’s always with you!   I want him here four days a week.”
Mark argues that he is old enough to make his own decisions, but this does not go down well with Debbie.
"What's wrong with you?"
“What’s wrong with you?   You’ve been behaving oddly since you got back from London,” he says.
Debbie insists that she wants to do Ricky’s washing too;  “His clothes are in a right state – do you iron them?   Let’s discuss it with him over a meal in the Deri tonight.”
Mark has had enough of this
When Mark says he is busy tonight, she moans, “You don’t want anything to do with me these days,” so he gives up and leaves.
"What you need is fruit tea"
Siôn advises Garry that what he needs is fruit tea, but Garry has other idea;
"I'm not drinking pink tea!"
“I’m not drinking pink tea!   I want normal tea with two sugars.”
Garry looks confused
Then he suddenly looks rather confused, struggles to his feet and says he is going for a nap;  “I just want a bit of peace and quiet.”
He heads for the bedroom, and appears to be suffering a panic attack, with rapid shallow breathing.
Diane heads to Anita's . . .
Diane comes out of the door of APD, crosses the road to Anita’s door
. . . before changing her mind and retreating
and is about to knock, when she changes her mind and scurries back across the road.
"Garry could be in trouble"
While Garry is supposedly in bed, Dani tells Siôn that the Health and Safety people are investigating;  she is worried that Garry could be in trouble as he is not a mechanic and was working on a car.   “Should I tell him?” she ask Siôn;  he considers Garry is not strong enough, and they do not want to make matters worse.
Garry is eavesdropping
Of course Garry has been listening to their conversation.
He comes into the room and is telling Siôn that he can go now,
Chester's rather over-enthusiastic welcome
when Chester arrives, and is overjoyed to see Garry back.
"Want some Spag Bol?"
When Colin returns home, Iolo offers him some surplus Spag Bol, and adds, “I’ve dried your washing too;”  when Colin tells him he will make someone a good wife, Iolo adds, “Maybe your new girlfriend can take over.”
"I've never seen this before"
This puzzles Colin, who says he has never seen that scarf before;  “If I had a girlfriend, I wouldn’t hide her – I’d love to have one, for company and a bit of fun!
Colin becomes sorrowful about his love life . . .
“I haven’t had a honest and loving relationship since Gaynor – and maybe never will again!
. . . and wallows in self-pity . . .
Everyone sees the Colin who likes a laugh and joke, but it can be tiring sometimes,” he laments,
. . . so Iolo promises him a pint
so Iolo promises to buy him a pint at the Deri.
"This one's useless at darts!"
“You’ll be doing me a favour – this one’s useless at darts,” says Iolo, pointing at Wiliam.   He has a bag of stuff to go to Maenan, so Colin adds the scarf to it.
"You don't think he dresses in women's clothes?"
When Colin has gone, Wiliam wonders whether it might have been his scarf, and whether Colin likes to dress in women’s clothes.   “We should support him – we know what it’s like to live a lie,” he tells Iolo.
Garry says it is not very painful
Chester asks whether it was painful, and Garry winces as he answers, “No, not a lot.”
"It's time to leave Garry and Dani"
By now, Siôn has done the washing-up and thinks it is time he and Chester went home, but Garry informs him, “Chester is staying for dinner,” so Siôn leaves.
Dani is off to the Indian
Garry fancies an Indian, and Chester agrees to look after him while Dani visits Cwm Delhi.   “I’m old enough to get a job now,” says Chester, “And I want to work in the garage,”
Garry will not entertain Chester being in the garage . . .
but Garry is dead against this.   What happened to him means that he does not want to risk anyone else.
Garry finds himself feeling confused
Then, once again, Garry begins to look confused.
"I've organised a Spa Day for Anita"
Mark finds Diane in the Deri, and is told that she has organised a Spa Day for Anita on Friday;  “If Meic Pierce was here now, I’d give him the bill!” she says.
"You're not too busy for her!"
Debbie is is affronted when she walks in;  “You’re not too busy for her!   Are you having an affair?”
Diane immediately answers, “If I wanted a toyboy, I wouldn’t choose him!”   Mark asks her who she would choose, and she tells him, “Ed, maybe.”
"My company's not good enough for anyone!"
When Iolo and Wiliam arrive with Colin in tow, Debbie remarks, “My company’s not good enough for anyone these days,” tells Ows to cancel her pint and walks out, apparently leaving her jacket on the bar.   Colin says he will return it to her tomorrow;  Iolo and Wiliam look at each other.
"I was a bit scared!"
Garry admits to Chester, “It all happened so quickly – I still see it when I close my eyes.   I was a bit scared!”
"Someone else is going to die"
Chester reveals he fears that someone else is going to die, and assures Garry that they will be looking after him.   “When did you grow up?” asks Garry, surprised, and tells him that he is too young to work in the garage.
Garry hands over some money
He presses a wad of notes into Chester’s hand, and wants him to go, as what he needs is some rest;  “I haven’t had five minutes to myself all day,” so Chester leaves.
"That's not what I ordered!"
Debbie arrives home alone with a take-away, then finds it is not what she ordered;  she almost phones Vicky again, but stops herself.
Garry is in a state . . .
Garry, alone at home, starts hyperventilating, and in his hurry to get a drink from the fridge, knocks a glass to the floor.
. . . and subsides to the floor
As he suffers another panic attack, he slowly sinks to the floor, with a horrified look in his eyes.

10 August 2015

The garage is closed . . .
After we see a recap of Garry’s accident, Siôn and Geraint are seen,
. . . and the mood is sombre
looking sadly at the closed premises of Moduron Monk.
Is this new addition to the menu going to catch on?
Then Siôn heads to the café, where Debbie is promoting her latest delicacy, inspired by Vicky’s pregnant cravings;  she asks Siôn what “syrup” is in Welsh.   Having just returned from visiting Vicky in London, she enquires about, “The latest gossip.”
"You think what has happened is gossip?"
Siôn angrily retorts, “You think what has happened is gossip?   You have no idea how much we’re suffering!   It was an accident, and no-one could have prevented it!”   Debbie looks rather taken aback by this outburst.
Dani is fearing the worst . . .
Meanwhile, Dani is by the bedside of Garry,
. . . as Garry lies motionless
who is surrounded by a mass of tubes and equipment;  she demands that the doctor tell her what is going on, and he tells her,
The doctor cannot promise anything
“We’re trying to wake Garry up from the coma today.   Things are not black and white, but tests show there is no permanent damage.   We hope that he will be able to talk, but there is no certainty, as he has suffered a serious accident.”
He urges Dani to go home and get some rest, but she insists that she is staying;  as he leaves, she mutters, “Years in college, but he couldn’t give me a straight answer to one question!”
"They're trying to wake Garry"
Britt is very worried, despite hearing from Dani that the hospital are trying to wake Garry,
"We have to be positive"
and Siôn tries to encourage her to be positive.   She says, “It will be a lot better when I can go and see him, but I have to go to the garage for the Health and Safety Inspection.”
Mark delivers the Deri post, and enquires about Garry, adding,
"If it were not for Siôn, who knows where he'd be?"
“If it were not for Siôn phoning for the ambulance, who knows where he’d be?”   It is obvious that Siôn does not share this sentiment.
The holidaymakers are back from Cardigan
Ffion, Gethin and Arwen are back from their holiday, and are in a very good humour, until they hear the message left by Dani on the answering machine.   “Gethin, why won’t you answer!   I tried your mobile – and Ffion’s.   There’s been an accident – Garry’s in hospital, in a coma!   Phone me back!”
Gethin needs to go and find Dani, and asks Ffion if she will be all right on her own.
"You take my purse"
She insists that she will be, and hands over her purse;  “Now I can’t get a drink even if I want to,” she tells him.
Eileen just wants her coffee . . .
In the café, Debbie is going on about her visit to London to anyone who will listen, and Eileen, who does not want to.
. . . and Mark does not want to stop and chat
When Mark delivers there, she wants to tell him all about it, but he is in a hurry to finish his round;  however he does agree to a quick cuppa.
"Are you praying?"
When Britt and Dani come into the Deri, they see Siôn behind the bar with his head bowed;  “Are you praying?” asks Dani, “Can I join you?”    Britt dismisses this and leaves them.
"We are praying today for our brother Garry"
“God our Father,” intones Siôn, “We are praying today for our brother Garry,” but he gets no further as Gethin bursts in, full of apologies that he only just received Dani’s message.
"It's your fault he's in hospital!"
“It’s your fault he’s in hospital!” Dani tells him, and when he insists that Ffion had to get away for some peace, she continues, “I needed you, and you chose Ffion before your own family!”
Gethin has problems
She turns away from Gethin as Siôn resumes, “Lord, we asks that You forgive our sins, and see the good in us.”
After putting clothes into the washing machine, Ffion asks Arwen, “What do you want for lunch today?   Spaghetti hoops?”
Spaghetti Hoops?   "Yeah!"
Arwen enthusiastically replies, “Yeah!” and
Desperate search for alcohol
Ffion looks longingly into the cupboards,
"I've got my eye on you!"
while Arwen keeps a careful eye on her.
Just what she needs – Chester fighting!
Before she can leave for the hospital, Britt has a phone call, reporting that Chester has been in a fight at the football club;  as Dani is eager to get back to Garry, Siôn says he will sort the matter out.
Good news from the hospital
As they are about to go, Dani has a call from the hospital;  “He’s awake!” she shouts jubilantly.
Ffion has put Arwen in her room and is methodically searching through drawers and cupboards;  her mobile rings,
Ffion ignores Gethin's call
but when she sees it is Gethin, she rejects the call and continues her search.
Maldwyn is given his change
Ricky has been summoned to the café by text,
"What's so important, then?"
having been at Rheinallt’s; Debbie, impressed with Ricky having a friend with a posh name like that, wants Ricky to come to tea;  he is not keen but says in a non-committal way, “OK, probably.”
Gwen is more than capable of running the café
When he has gone, Debbie tells Gwen, “You’ll have to cope on your own – I’ve got a cake to make.”
Garry's eyes open
Garry mumbles incoherently, and the doctor tells him that he is in hospital, having had an accident, but everything is fine.
He does not appear to recognise Dani
He advises those standing round the bed, “This is natural – he’ll be very sleepy, but there is no permanent damage.   He has been through a traumatic experience and will need a lot of care.”
"Aargh!"   He is in a lot of pain
Garry tries to move and winces in pain.
"Sorry, Arwen"
Ffion is sitting on the floor with Arwen, and with tears in her eyes, says, “Sorry!”
"Is this anything to do with Garry?"
Chester arrives home with Siôn, who asks, “Is this anything to do with Garry?   I know you’re worried, but you can’t blame your friends.”
"What if Garry dies?"
“Who am I supposed to blame?” demands Chester, “What if Garry dies?   That’s what happened to Dad, and Brandon.”   Siôn explains that Garry has woken from the coma, but might not be the same Garry, after physical and mental injuries.   “Who would look after his family if he can’t?” asks Chester, and when Siôn assures him that he will,
The Monks and Whites behave differently
Chester continues, “The Monks and the Whites don’t deal with things in the same way!   I’m going to phone Mam.”
Ricky is lounging on the sofa at Maes-y-Deri when he remembers that he is supposed to be at Mam’s.
"She's in one of her bonkers moods!"
“She’s in one of her bonkers moods!   How does it feel to have a normal mother?”   Mark tells him she wants to show him photos of her visit to London, but Ricky is less than keen;  “I know what Vicky and Big Ben look like!”   Mark warns him to text his mother, as he does not want her shouting and screaming.
Debbie's culinary triumph
Meanwhile, Debbie has made a rather impressive cake and is waiting impatiently for Ricky’s arrival.
Ffion reads Cinderella to Arwen
Ffion reads to Arwen, “The ugly sisters said, ‘You can’t come to the party – you have to stay at home and clean the house’,” as Gethin returns to them.   He tells Ffion, “You look . . .”
"Sober?"
and Ffion suggests, “Sober?” to which he replies, “No, lovely!” and kisses her.   He tells her that Garry is recovering, and she announces there is a casserole for dinner.   As he hands back her purse, she says she would prefer him to keep it, just for now.
Debbie paces up and down, is unable to contact Ricky,
Debbie chats to Vicky
so phones Vicky to tell her everyone was pleased to see her back in Cwmderi, and that she has put the unconventional pancakes on the café menu.
Britt arrives home and emotionally announces that Garry is going to be all right;
Chester's mind is put at rest
this is a great relief to Chester, who hugs Siôn and promises to apologise to the boy whom he hit.
"We're so lucky to have you!"
Thank you for saving Garry’s life!” Britt tells Siôn, “We’re so lucky to have you!   Garry wants you to go and see him – he wouldn’t be here without you.”
"Ooh-er!   Garry wants to see me?"
Now Siôn looks decidedly worried.
