The car arrives in North Wales
Hywel’s car arrives at Val’s house;  he is not keen to be there, but he understands,
Neither of them want to be there
“She is your mother, and this is the only way to find Taid.”   Ffion is not expecting a welcome as they get out of the car.
Gaynor gives the impression she has a date
Gaynor books an appointment at the salon, and emphasises to Sheryl, “I’m having a meal with one of the Education advisors – he’s been very supportive, he’s intelligent and good company.   How are you?   It must be difficulty, with the pregnancy and your illness.   I can’t understand why Hywel had to go to North Wales with Ffion, but those two have always been close!
"Escaping this place must be a relief for him"
Escaping this place for a day must be a relief for him, what with the baby and divorce – it’s an opportunity to forget everything.”   Sheryl looks concerned, just as Gaynor intended.
"No, I haven't seen them"
Ffion tells Val that they were looking for Taid, but he was not home, and asks if her mother has seen Jinx or Arwen.   She tells then she has not,
Ffion has found her little Arwen
but then Ffion hears Arwen’s voice, bursts into the room and hugs her.
“Why didn’t you phone me?” demands Ffion, “I had no idea where she was!”   Val replies that Arwen is happier there, with her,
Hywel is ready to go home
but Hywel immediately picks up Arwen and is ready to leave.
“So you brought your ex-husband to help you out?” mocks Val, and Hywel insists that no-one should get hurt, especially Arwen.
"You turned your back on your own child!"
Ffion is amazed anyone would think she could leave her daughter with the woman who turned her back on her own child.   Val tells her, “It’s not right seeing her Mam go off with other men, and that Gethins not to be trusted!
Then Jinx walks in, and Ffion demands why he did not answer his phone,
"You can't take Arwen too!"
but he turns and picks up Arwen, insisting, “I’m scared she’ll be hurt if she goes with you.   You’ve already taken everything away from me, you can’t take Arwen too!”   Hywel urges Val to let them talk alone.
Gwynfor appears to be trying out the garden furniture
Gwyneth is on the phone at APD, and when Dai comes in, he asks, “Where are you sending me next?”
Dai is feeling his age, while Gwynfor tries another chair
As she makes a coffee, she tells him he has to measure up a window, but Dai, exhausted from the exertion, comments, “Measure a coffin, more like!”
Gemma arrives, bringing Gwyneth’s lunch, some of which Dai helps himself to;
Gemma grabs Gwyneth's coffee
Gemma takes Gwyneth’s coffee and sits down.
"Am I that much of a doormat?"
In the salon, Sheryl asks Dani, “Is it normal for someone to want to spend the day with their ex?   Am I that much of a doormat?”   Dani reminds her that Gaynor is jealous, as Sheryl stole her husband, and as Sheryl laments that Hywel is always letting her down, she decides they should go to the Deri to cheer her up.
"Please come to town with me!"
Gemma whines, “Please come to town with me – I hate shopping on my own,” but Gwyneth points out that she is working.
Dai, glad to see the back of Gemma
Dai is also pleased  when Gemma gives up and leaves.
They begin to talk
Jinx reports that Arwen is fast asleep, and they can talk;  Ffion begins,
"I know I'm at fault"
“I know I’m at fault, and that I’ve hurt you, but you should have told me where you were.”
Jinx tells her that she does not deserve any consideration.  “You don’t love me – I didn’t know what else to do.   Maybe I should have thought a bit, but driving for hours made sense, just the two of us, in our little bubble.
"I took the most precious thing in the world to me"
I was singing Cwm-Rhyd-y-Rhosyn, and she was smiling all the way.   I had no choice but to run away, and take the most precious thing in the world with me, to protect her.   You must understand you can’t expect me to lose Arwen as well!   Her place is with me – we don’t intend to return to Cwmderi!”
"I can't let you do that!"
“You can’t!   I can’t let you do that!” exclaims Ffion.   His answer surprises her;
"Take both of us back!   It's your choice!"
“There is only one answer then – take both of us back.   It’s your choice!”
Anita spoke to Wil last night
In the Deri, Anita tells Sheryl that she was talking to Wil on Skype last night;  “You haven’t told him about his little brother or sister – you don’t want him to hear from someone else!”
Sheryl replies that she will tell him in her own good time.
Sheryl is simply playing with her food – what a waste!
Seeing Sheryl merely toying with her meal,
"I put on three stone!"
Debbie remarks, “I put on three stone when I was expecting Liam – craving doughnuts and jammie dodgers didn’t help!”   Anita recalls the terrible pain of childbirth, and would not want to go through that again.
Dani is angry;  “She’s here for a meal, not for you to scare her!   Haven’t you got a café to run?”
No answer from Hywel
Sheryl goes outside, ostensibly for some fresh air, but actually to phone Hywel;  this again proves unsuccessful.
Diane has been to a funeral . . .
Diane comes in, dressed in black, having been to a former councillor’s funeral;  “We’re better off without him!” he tells them, “There’s no room for men like that on the council.   If I play my cards right, we might be able to have another woman on the committee,”
. . . and offers a councillor's post to Anita
and she looks at Anita.
“Don’t look at me!” says Anita, but Debbie is quick to volunteer.
"I'll do it!"
“I didn’t think you were the type,” Diane remarks, and Debbie asks what type that is.
Hywel tells Val of his latest conquest
Val is getting in the washing, and asks Hywel, “How’s Gaynor?   he explains that they are no longer together, but he is with Sheryl, and expecting a child.   Val’s reaction is, “It must be a nice feeling to do what you like, and to hell with everyone else!”
He reminds her that this business with Arwen is not a game, but she is adamant that Ffion needs to be taught a lesson.
"I shall never turn my back on my child again!"
Hywel says he has learned one thing;  “I shall never turn my back on my child again!”
Hywel will not give a straight answer
When Val enquires whether he loves Sheryl, he answers, “I know how lucky I am.
"I won't make the same mistake again"
I have been given another chance, and won’t make the same mistake again.”
"Wood varnish goes on this shelf!"
Dai finds fault with Gwyneth, putting stock on the wrong shelves, then she decides she will do the invoices, despite it being late.
"I'll stay on and deal with the invoices"
Dai leaves her to it, and goes home.   Gwyneth receives a text;
Gemma is keeping tabs on her
“When will you be home?” and continues with her work.
"Does Gethin make you happy?"
Jinx and Ffion are sitting on the floor, playing with Arwen;  “I gave you everything – does Gethin make you happy?” he asks.
"It wasn't right from the start"
Ffion maintains that things were not right from the start;  “I don’t know how we thought we could make it work, being cousins.”   Jinx is of the opinion that they did not do badly as parents to Arwen.
"Arwen needs both of us!"
“You and me are not right for each other, but Arwen needs both of us,” says Ffion.   “Come back to Cwmderi!   I don’t want her not to know her father.”
"Father – who's that?   Hywel?   Gethin?   Macs?"
Jinx asks, “Who’s that?   Hywel?   Gethin?   Macs?”   She tells him it is his name on Arwen’s birth certificate.   Then Hywel comes in, wanting to head home, as it will be dark by the time they get there.   Ffion pleads, “Well, are you coming?” and Jinx agrees.
Val will not give up
Val badgers him not to be persuaded by her, but Jinx assures her that he has a plan;  “I know what I’m doing,” he says.
Anita could be co-opted on to the council
Diane tells Anita that if there are no applications for the council vacancy, they can co-opt someone, but Anita is still not interested.
"No, I want to apply!"
Debbie, however, is determined to apply.
Gaynor is back, to rub it in
Gaynor returns to the salon, with Hywel’s mail and more of his belongings.   She begins stirring again;
"The baby is going to be a millstone round your neck!"
“I’m lucky to be walking away from all this, but the baby is going to be a millstone round your neck.”
"You've been going through my things?"
When Gwyneth eventually goes home, she finds that Gemma has been sorting through her washing and tidying her bedroom;  “I don’t want you going through my things!” she shouts,
Another casualty of Gemma
Gemma drops the washing and breaks the glass in a photo, much to Gwyneth’s annoyance.
"You can't ruin Arwen's life!"
Val is still objecting as they go to the cars for the homeward journey;  “You can’t ruin Arwen’s life like you’ve destroyed Jinx’s!”   Ffion insists she will not listen to this rubbish, and gets into the car.
Sheryl phones to make an appointment, “To discuss my options.”
"Are you doing this for the right reasons?"
Dani asks if she is doing this for the right reasons.   Sheryl explains,
"What choice do I have?"
“What choice do I have?   I’m scared!   He ran away with Ffion, and this worrying about the baby and Hywel is not doing me any good.   What if I don’t get through it?   Can I rely on Hywel to raise my child?
"No, I have to!"
No, I have to!”

18 May 2015

Gethin is becoming domesticated very quickly
Gethin, who has moved into Cysgod y Glyn, makes Ffion breakfast, and asks her if it is wise going to school, as she has hardly slept over the weekend.
Another message left for Jinx
Ffion insists that they must not tell anyone what has happened, and leaves another message for Jinx.
Hywel is also trying to contact Jinx
Sheryl is in the café when Hywel comes in, wondering why he cannot contact Jinx, who is due on air at CwmFM in half an hour.
A new employee in the café?
He says that he will have to take Jinx’s place, which angers Sheryl as he was going to accompany her on a shopping trip.   “I can’t leave CwmFM unmanned, but I’ll sort something out for this afternoon,” he tells her.
Dani is working on Garry
Dani shows Garry a brochure for an exotic holiday;  “And here I am in boring Cwmderi!   If you sorted out a couple of jobs for us, we could be on  a hot beach on the other side of the world.”   Garry tells her to be patient while he organises things, but she cannot wait;  “I want some excitement!”
"Am I not exciting enough for you?"
and Garry is disappointed to learn that he is not exciting enough for her.
"I have no idea where Jinx is"
Ffion and Gethin walk past the chippy when they are accosted by Hywel, wanting to know where Jinx is.   He thinks it odd when Ffion replies that she does not know,
"We've not seen him or Arwen since Friday"
and Gethin explains, “She’s telling the truth, she doesn’t know where he is.   We’ve not seen him or Arwen since Friday.   Ffion’s with me now, and I’ll look after her.”
Dani tells Iolo
Dani has heard this exchange, and hurries to Iolo, who is loading his van, and tells him the news.   Iolo appears very worried when he hears this.
Sioned is also badgering Garry about another job
Sioned struts into the garage, complaining that she has bills to pay, and asking whether Garry and Dani have been busy.
"Were they empty threats?"
“That’s none of your business,” Garry replies, “I thought you were complaining to Social Services about me – or were they empty threats?”
"There are plenty of jobs out there!"
She insists that they made a good team and that there are plenty of jobs out there, but Garry makes his position clear;  “I told you, I’m not taking any more risks – with you or Dani!”   Then Gethin arrives and is told to sort out an MOT for Sioned.
Iolo is brooding about Arwen's plight
In the shop, Iolo mutters, “She’s been to the house a lot, but I thought they were just friends.”   Britt is rather scathing about what has happened, but Iolo continues, “What if we never see Arwen again?”
Britt is confident that although Jinx is hasty, he would never harm Arwen.
"Maybe I should tell Wiliam"
Iolo considers, “She is my niece – maybe I should tell Wiliam.   If something happened to her, I don’t want to think our family turned their backs on her.”
"I never know what Gethin will do next"
In the salon, Dani tells Sheryl how surprised she is by Gethin’s latest exploit;  Sheryl muses, “No matter how close you are, you never know someone completely.”
"It would be easier with just the two of us"
Dani admits, “I had no idea how difficult things would be with Gwern;  sometimes I feel it would be easier with just the two of us.   A family room in Tenerife is not as romantic as a cabin!”
"Sorry about this afternoon – I'll take you tomorrow!"
Then Hywel dashes in to announce that he will not be able to take Sheryl shopping this afternoon, and promises they can go tomorrow.
"What if he's not the one for me?"
After he has gone, Sheryl wonders, “What if he’s not the one for me?   If it’s just a fling, over in a couple of months?
"I'm only keeping this baby to keep Hywel"
I don’t want to be a single mum again – I’m only keeping this baby to keep Hywel, but if there’s no future . . .”
Sioned gives Garry some tips
In the Deri, Garry has been speaking to somone on the phone, when Sioned reminds him of the first rule of business;  “You can’t afford to let an opportunity slip through your fingers.   One man’s loss is another man’s gain.”
"Thanks for the advice"
Garry thanks her for the advice.
"Have you thought about Arwen?"
Meanwhile Iolo finds Gethin, and asks if he has thought about Arwen.   Gethin is confident that they will soon be back;
Gethin appears remarkably unconcerned
“Jinx has just had a shock, that’s all,” he replies, diffidently.
Iolo is far from happy with his attitude
Iolo continues to quiz him about what happened, and whether there has been any contact over the weekend;  “You’ve spent too much time with Wiliam,” comments Gethin, “Just let Ffion deal with this in her own way;  Jinx will come to his senses.”
"He's never got time for me"
Sheryl is still wondering;  “Nothing changes the fact that it’s Hywel’s baby, my blood pressure’s high and I’m questioning his commitment – he’s never got time for me!”
"Don't make a hasty decision"
Dani reminds her that although Hywel is not a saint, nobody is, and he may make a great father.   She urges Sheryl not to make a decision while she is angry.
Ffion is not happy that the matter has been reported to the police
Iolo follows Ffion into the café;  he tells her he had a word with Wiliam and reported Arwen missing.   “They could be anywhere!   What if they’ve left the country?”   Ffion has already ascertained that they have not taken their passports.   She is adamant that she knows best how to deal with the situation;  “Now can I have my lunch in peace?”
"Get off your backside and do something!"
Iolo is getting more worked up;  “I don’t know how you can stomach anything – get off your backside and do something!”   After he has stormed off, Hywel, who has been listening from another table, comes over, and tells her that Iolo may be right.
"He might not bring Arwen back!"
Ffion has had enough and walks out, but Hywel, pausing only to pick up his iPad, follows her along the street, warning that Jinx may not bring Arwen back.   “But she belongs with me!   And she has gone without her clothes and toys!” wails Ffion.
"He must have gone to Taid!"
Hywel asks where would Jinx go when in a pickle – friends, or family?   Ffion announces that he must have gone to Taid.
"Please come with me!"
“Come with me, please!” she pleads, “I can’t face it on my own.   Jinx will listen to you.   Gethin doesn’t know me like you do!”
"First thing tomorrow morning"
Hywel agrees to take her first thing in the morning.
Dani tells Gethin in the Deri she hopes he knows what he is doing;
Gethin naïvely thinks that all is well
Gethin’s response is, “Ffion and I understand each other, and love each other.”
"Check the cupboards!"
Garry’s rather callous comment, from behind the pages of the Western Post, is, “Check the cupboards in case there’s a bottle of whisky hiding somewhere!”
"You have to scare Dani!"
When Garry goes to the bar, Sioned has the answer to his problems;  “You have to scare Dani – make her realise she’s out of her depth!   You have to be cruel sometimes!”
Sheryl brigns Hywel his lunch . . .
As a conciliatory gesture, Sheryl takes some lunch to Hywel at CwmFM;  he flatters her, “Have I told you lately how lucky I am!”   When she tells him of her intention to visit the most expensive shops in town tomorrow, he breaks the news.
. . . but she does not like his news
“There’s a bit of a problem – I’ve got to take Ffion to North Wales.   She’s convinced that’s where Jinx has taken Arwen.”
Sheryl objects that Ffion is nothing to do with him now, but he confesses, “I promised her!”
"You promised me, too!"
Sheryl reminds him that he promised her, too;  “I’ve hardly seen you recently, and we’ve got things to discuss and organise.”
He comes up with the argument that when Ffion finds Jinx, she will not need him, and he can spend more time with Sheryl.   “I’m doing this for us,” he says, but Sheryl looks distinctly unconvinced.
In the Deri, Dani shows Garry an advertisement for a Caribbean cruise;  “If we play our cards right, we can afford it!”
Dani demonstrates the Caribbean cruise
As he goes to a quiet corner to make a phone call, Sioned comments that Dani will need a second mortgage for that.
"Business is doing very well!"
Dani assures her, “Business is doing well, very well!”
"You've got to keep your nerve!"
but Sioned warns her that she needs more than luck, she needs to keep her nerve, and not everyone can.
After arranging something with Steve on the phone, and stressing that it must be kept quiet,
"Keep Thursday afternoon free!"
Garry returns to announce to Dani that she had better start packing her case.   He has a job for her on Thursday afternoon.
Ffion tries to ignore Britt
Ffion has an unwelcome visitor – Britt, who agrees that Jinx loves Arwen, but asks, “Shouldn’t you be looking for her?   You really should be looking after yourself!”
Ffion takes this to mean she is vulnerable;
"Back on the bottle, you mean!"
“Back on the bottle, you mean!   Sorry to disappoint you, but I’m fine!”   Gethin has arrived, and thinks that Ffion was rather harsh.
"Hywel is taking me to North Wales"
“By the way, I won’t be here tomorrow,” Ffion tells him, “Hywel is taking me to North Wales to visit Taid.”   When Gethin objects, saying he could take her, she tells him it is all arranged.
“You’ve arranged to go with your ex-husband?   What about me?”
"This is not about you"
She informs him that is not about him, and that he should stay out of it.
"What have I let myself in for?"
Then she returns to school, leaving Gethin wondering.
